We went to O'hana's on Saturday night for dinner. We spoke with one of the head Chef's, Kim, and he said that yes the potatoes are going to be going. He did not say exactly when, but in a few weeks. They are replacing it with a pasta with peanuts and pineapple, he said almost like pad thai. Other than that the dinner was good, we all thought the potstickers were yummy, and the bread as well, though I do miss the wonton chips.

WHAHHHH!! Ok the 2 things I loved at O'Hana's were the potatoes and that banana dessert - the little slice of heaven on a plate.
No potatoes- it's off the list. I am surprised with all the peanut allergies that they would be putting an item like that on the menu?:confused3

I was thinking the exact same thing about nut allergies. Surely they would have to have an alternative to that dish. Well at least we got to try the potaoes before they get the boot. :sad2: I doubt we will go back after they are gone.

What?!! The potatoes were about the only thing me and DBF liked in 'Ohana... now we definitely won't be going back! Incidentally, we also liked the wontons

Pasta, Peanuts and Pineapple? Seriously? That sounds just gross to me!!

That stinks! We are trying it for the first time next month.

I cannot believe that they would serve a peanut noodle dish knowing how many people have allergies to peanuts, maybe you can order it without it??

Well Allright!!!!:thumbsup2

They take those stinking potato's off the list and I'm going to go back for sure (plus the shrimp skewers are back}.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Now if they can get the inconsistant service shored up...

I'm probably going to get alot of flames for this but...:scared:
I've never been a fan of the potatoes or the banana bread pudding. The potatoes just never fit in the Polynesian thing. The bread pudding is just too heavy and sweet after eating a big and heavy meal. I am hoping that I can request pineapple instead of the bread pudding for our dessert when we next go.

I know alot of people have peanut allergies, but alot of people don't. We love peanuts and we love pad thai. I hope they add it by the time we got there!!

:dance3:

I think peanut noodles sound great. I had no objection to the potatoes, but I agree they didn't quite fit the theme.

I am not a fan of pineapple in savory dishes so the combo does not appeal to me. Oh well we are going in April, so I guess I'll have to live with it. This is our first time going to O'hana so I won't know what I'm missing.

as a mom of a peanut/tree nut allergic son, i will say that when we considered making 'ohana reservations it was strongly suggested that we either come for breakfast or not at all... apparently there is peanut sauce served at all tables and it's very risky to even have it on the table (chair? splashed? dripped? wiped? etc) and in the surrounding area from the family before/nearby/etc... so, if they need to add a peanut dish somewhere, that's the best place to add it 'cause most people w/peanut allergies are staying away anyway!!!

I agree. Now if they would bring back the pineapple and carmel sauce, we'd be in business.

My DD has peanut/nut allergies... and I was just trying to find somewhere new to eat.. this has certainly clarified us on Ohana.. :sad1: Too bad, it sounded like a neat place to eat... and my children have never seen the Poly.

Pre-kids, I used to eat this dish from chinese restaurants in NYC. It was yummy. :) I'm sure some folks will love this as an addition to the menu.

But, not us... I now have an aversion to anything with nuts...! Hey, they could kill my child.. I just can't eat them.. :sad2:

SO disappointed!!!! I hardly like those new side dishes so I guess we'll be moving our wedding luncheon somewhere else. :confused3

I love the bread pudding. But I found somewhere here at home that sells apple bread pudding with whiskey sauce. So if the one from Ohana goes away, no big deal anymore.

I'm mixed about this. On one hand, I've always felt that the potatoes weren't "polynesian". But on the other hand, they were so delish! I also miss the pineapple, it was such a simplistic dessert but so satisfying. But my DH would die if they discontinued the bread pudding!

We like Chef Kim at 'Ohana. We've spoken to him several times. Once my DD noticed a couple at the table next to us get very upset about their meal and ask to see the chef. Chef Kim came to their table and offered to cook them anything they wanted to please them. My DD was so worried about Chef Kim that she asked the server if he would tell the chef that she really enjoyed the food. Chef Kim came out and thanked her and sat down at our table and visited.

Another time we had a 5 year old in our party who wasn't crazy about the food. Chef Kim came by and offered to make her anything she wanted and brought her a huge hamburger and fries. Sorry to ramble off topic, but Chef Kim is definitely an asset to Disney!

Wait now. Is the bread pudding also off the menu? If so. That without the potatoes will surely make me change my ressies. Guess. I will go to Boma' twice.

I just read another post saying the bread pudding would be staying. Hmm. I cant wait until someone confirms the change.

I second, third, fourth and fifth that the pasta sounds gross. :rotfl2:

He did not mention the bread pudding, although I did forget to ask. I did notice that they were using the bread they serve with the dinner to make it, instead of the breakfast bread they had been using. It tasted a little different, and the consistency was a little off, but overall the bread pudding was still amazing!
