Ohana's was horrible

Ohana's is an annual staple for us. However, this year it was the biggest disappointment. We're not on the dining plan, so we are paying full price for this.

The steak was so tough it couldn't be cut (with our butter knives) nor chewed. It was also undercooked which led to the non ability to cut through the meat. The Chicken on the skewers was undercooked too.
Finally, the shrimp was also undercooked.

I was with people other than my own family, so I didn't make a fuss, but the amount of uneaten food certainly piled up on my plate (and they don't come to give you a new plate or anything). It was very uncomfortable. I'm really grateful that I am not sick this morning.

Disney get's two thumbs down on O'hana's from me. It will NOT be on my list next year.

I agree with you. We just came home last week and thought Ohana was horrible too. We usually love it and it's a must do on every trip. This time, the steak and chicken were cold and chewy. The only saving grace of the meal was the dumplings and bread pudding for dessert. When you're not on the dining plan, it kills you to drop $150 on a bad meal.

Yes, what a horrible waste of money and time. I should have gone somewhere else to do the "big" dinner.

Funny, we tried it for the very first time last week and it was our favorite meal of the week!!! I'll agree that I didn't care for the steak. But the bread, salad, dumplings, wings, chicken, and bread pudding were all wonderful! [I don't eat shrimp, but my DS reports they were great!] I was hesitant because I do see mixed reviews from time to time. But we can't wait to go back!!!

That is disappointing to hear! Speaking of Poly restaurants, have also read a few unfavorable comments about Kona too.:sad2: Have an ADR at Kona for dinner and "rethinking" it.:confused3 Shame, had a great dinner at Kona last December.. A shame whether or not you are on a dining plan. Prices are NOT CHEAP at either of these restaurants!:scared1:

That's too bad, I would have complained to management as undercooked shrimp and chicken is a health hazard. Ohana is not on our list for our upcoming trip.

The more I read about 'Ohana, the more I am thinking of cancelling my upcoming dinner. I only eat part of the food served (the chicken, beef and bread) everything else I don't care for but I can eat a LOT of good beef and chicken to make up for what I don't eat, and I have never left hungry! This was one of the few meals that my best friend requested I get an ADR for. We have about talked ourselves into Texas de Brazil since we are staying offsite this trip, it has FAR more for us to enjoy based on the menu. The price is similar to 'Ohana, the food selections tremendous and we only sacrifice the Disney experience - I don't think we are losing in this case, and we could be finding a new favorite place to enjoy special dinners :cheer2:

We loved it last time we went BUT I thought the meat was undercooked, too and I would have eaten much more steak if it wasn't medium rare. Gag.

Sad to hear this! I definitely would've said something about the chicken and shrimp being undercooked. We had an excellent meal there in March. Myself and 2 others in our party like steak cooked well done so we asked our server for it and he brought out a skewer of well done steak to our table.

there seems to be more and more negative reviews of O'Hanas I am a member of a UK based wdw forum and there is another thread very similar to this one..although I am ages away from making any ADRs (Feb) this was one that I was going to try for...I might not anymore.

We went in March and it was my DD's BF favorite but the place was pretty disgusting. Food everywhere, I couldn't figure out the bussing system they use but the trays of uneaten food were so huge you wouldn't even think they could be lifted. The food was ok and we are going back in November, hopefully we will hit a good night. Also sad to hear about Kona, loved their old menu but not crazy about the new one and it doesn't sound like it has been executed very well. Maybe Poly needs a new GM or F&B manager.

Oh no.... hubby and I have ADR's here for our food and wine trip in 3 weeks and were considering going with the kids in December. We are paying OOP with TIW now I am nervous to try it...

We were there in July and it was better than it has been in previous years. We all loved it. Lol

We didn't do it last year because they were making menu changes and I was hearing some not so great reviews. We had never been before, so didn't want to risk it based on the negativity I was reading.

Fast forward to this summer and I heard the chicken was back, along with the salad, and figured there would be more that my pick DS would like. Still had my reservations about it, but decided to give it a shot. At worst, it would be one bad meal. But just felt compelled to try it at least once.

Unanimously the best meal of our week long trip! I'm still craving those dumplings--and I don't usually eat dumplings! Granted, my steak wasn't the best, but I LOVED the chicken. And there's so much food that not eating steak wasn't a huge deal! I had more than enough to fill up on with everything else!

Yes, I'm not one to ever complain about my food at restaurants- unless it's realllly bad. Sounds like this qualifies. Especially for the large dollar amount, I would definitely expect at least a decent meal. I may not want to "make a scene" at the table in front of other diners, may be excuse myself and go talk to the server on the side. I would definitely want to talk to the manager after the meal, they don't know there's a problem unless people say something.

With all that said, we'll be going there later this month since we've never been there before. Crossing my fingers!

We went in Aug as it's also a must-do for our family. It was horrible for us too. The chicken was so slimy and inedible. The salad is different, not the fruity salad that was soooo good but now it has peas and a pepper type dressing you can barely taste...blech. The noodles were slightly different and not as flavorful. The potstickers seemed slightly changes as well (lots of green veges inside that I don't remember before). And the service, which has been an issue the past several visits, was terrible too. It's off our must-do list now.

We have eaten at Texas de Brazil in 3 different locations, including Orlando a few years ago. Really ENJOYED it!:thumbsup2 Sign up for their e mail club a few weeks in advance and hopefully you will get some form of a discount. ENJOY!
