Ohanas - Walk up chances??

So I've been trying religiously 3x a day to get adr's for end of October dinner....with NO luck! I will continue to try but thought I'd ask:

Who here has experience with walking up and getting a dinner table at Ohana's?? We made adr's at Kona just incase.

if you were going to possible have a chance to get in at at walk up, you would need to be there 10 mins before opening and be in line right away when the host/hostess start. We have done this before and have had great success. We also have friends who never made an adr for O'hana, before travelling with us, and this is how they did it and managed even during the busy holiday times to always get a meal at O'hana. It is definitely worth a try!

It is worth a try, but be prepared to be turned away or told it is a 2+hour wait. And the wait has to be there.

Anytime we have been there I haven't seen people get in. I have seen the line develop 30mins before opening as well. This place is crazy to get into but I understand why, it is delish!

Good luck, you are wise to have adrs at Kona but still try.

We were having drinks at the Poly Tambu Lounge on May 24, we got there around 4pm and there was already a line for Ohana but not CM at the desk yet. Around 4:45 a CM came up and made the announcement there was no availability if you didnt have a reservation...a lot of people left after that

I think 10 minutes before opening is too late. By that time the line will be at least down to Kona if not past it. And many of those guests will be in line because they do not have a reservation.

Not only were we turned away in May, but the host was very rude about it. There food isn't that good to give attitude to guests. We went over to Kona and had a great meal instead

I read on the DIS that the line would be terribly long both for those with and without reservations way before it opened but didn't find that to be the case. We were up on the second floor in June about an hour early and NO ONE was waiting. About 20 til 5, someone got in both the reservation and walk up line and we jumped in right after (we had a resevation). I never saw either line get very long at all but all the folks in the walk up line were still there when we were done eating about 90 minutes later.

I don't think there is a "good" time to try a walk up, but have experienced the 2+ hour wait....and you will wait what they tell you (or more). It is all about what you have planned if you don't mind killing some time. I would think getting there relatively late would be advanatagous, the last ADR's are the later ones and are most likely the ones that people no show for.

Don't know what dates you want but there are openings for 4 on lots of dates if you don't mind dining late.

I went to dining, put in no preference, time to seach 8:00 & party of 4...it pulled up...

Oct 27 at 9:15 p.m.
Oct 29 at 9:30 p.m. &
Oct 31 at 9:30 p.m.

We tried a couple of times as walk ups and we could be seated at 9:15 (it was opening time of the restaurant). Very difficult as a walk up.

Keep checking every day. Any time I really need an ADR I do this and except for the Chefs Table at V&A I have been able to get every meal I wanted.

My family was at Disney from 7/1-7/10. Our best meal was at Ohana and it was the Friday night before we left. We had one more night to eat and my DH wanted to go back to Ohana again. So we walked up (this was a Saturday night) around 8:30 and were seated by around 9:15. We also got the BEST seat in the house (the very first table by the window on the far left of the main room) directly in front of the castle. It was magical and we enjoyed all the food just as much as the first night! I don't know if we lucked up or what, but we waited less than an hour. I would suggest going late if you can hold off. As late as 9pm. The last seating is at 10pm so you would not wait more than an hour without knowing if you are getting a seat. Both nights we ate there, we left after 10 pm and it was getting pretty empty. At 10pm there were plenty of seats avaliable.

OP, if you want an ADR just remember everyday is someones 45 day mark where they must pay in full if their anything other than room only. Life events and budgets change their ability to make the final payment. ADR cancellations are an everyday event...

I would keep trying. October is still 3 months away. I actually didn't find out until last week that I would be able to go to WDW in October. Now that I can, I've been searching a few times a day and haven't been lucky yet. But I usually always get the reservation I want if I'm persistent enough.

Also, we had a reservation at 5:05pm I think when we went in May. We got to the Polynesian pretty early...I think around 4:45pm and the line was already insane to check in. So if you even wanted to try for a walk up, you'd have to get there much much earlier than that.

I personally would not wait more than an hour to get in when Kona is right next door. And to us...is better. Their food is fabulous. Sushi bar is outstanding. We do love O'hanas and are trying desperately to get a ressie for Nov 28-Dec 8. Only a few pop up and are after 9:30 p.m. We have a 2 yr old so that's probably not gonna work. I'm fine if we don't get there this time, but Kona is a must. Hubby is just a big MEAT eater and O'hanas is a dream ot him. We'll probably judge the crowds one day (if we can't get a ressie we like) show up at a somewhat "off" time...and go wait.. The stores and the resort itself are beautiful to look at while you wait
