Please help me decide, should we eat at O'Hanas or the Luau at the Polynesian? We will be dining with a 1 year old and a four year old, which would be more fun for the kids?

I can't comment on the luau since it's been about 25 years since I've been, but we went to dinner at 'Ohana in June and loved it. We have a six and eight eyar old and the six year old loved the activities for the kids - limbo and coconut races. My eight year old wasn't in the mood for the festivities so he passed but we were late enought to see the light show on the lagoon and he really enjoyed that (that was an 8pm ressie though).

We all enjoyed the food but there was SOOO much of it!

As a kid I loved the luau but from posts I read before our trip ot seems to not be what I remember which is why we tried 'Ohana instead.

We've never been to the luau but we LOVE Ohana, especially the bread pudding for dessert!! And our kids had fun with the activities. Can't wait to go back in December!

We were debating the same thing when we went this year and decided to do 'Ohana. I wasn't sure we'd like the food at the luau, plus I liked that 'Ohana was only one credit on the ddp.

Ohana has a lot better food and if Kaleo is there he does coconut races and sings.

Thanks everyone, think I am swaying towards Ohanas. We did eat here back in 2007 and DS was only 2, I reckon he really would enjoy it this time :) I do remember the bread and butter pudding was yummy :)

We did the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Theater last November 2008. We were not impressed with the food. It all comes at the same time and can get cold sitting on the serving tray. The show is good but it is like High School Musical Hawaiian style. If you have ever been to an authentic Hawaiian Luau you may be disappointed.
We LOVE Ohana, the food is fresh and keeps coming as long as you want it to, and YES, the bread pudding is the best.

We did the 'Spirit of Aloha' this year because it was one of the only Dinner Shows we had not attended yet. Like the PP said, the storyline for the show is a bit corny. It really did not get enjoyable until they actually started doing the dances representing the different Polynesian countires, which occurs after dessert.

The food was not what we expected. If you are thinking Luau like roasted pig, think again. It's salad, chicken, ribs, rice, vegetable, bread... It's all served family style.

We did it, it wasn't bad, but not great either. Considering all the other dining options at WDW, we probably won't go back.

Definitely Ohana's the Luau is fun but the food is so much better at Ohana and they have fun entertainment and games for the kids.

Thanks everyone for all your replies. We have decide to go with Ohanas :thumbsup2
