Ok I know alot of you love this place but OMG it was horrible!!! The salad and dessert were the best things on the menu. The waiter serving the next table asked if we wanted some steak so we all said yes. Let me just say gross, this meat was so red and fatty and I am not lying. I wouldn't have served this to my worst enemy, it could have been used for bait for crabbing :sad2: . When our waitress finally came back to our table we asked to have some steak well done which she did. The shrimp was in the shell and not even cleaned so you had to peel it and clean it no thanks. The entertainer lady I think she was drunk (seriously), I was embarrassed for her :rolleyes1 Sorry but I definately won't be going back.

Sorry you had a less than stellar experience...we went in April and it was one of the best meals we ever had at WDW.

Our server was so attentive, we had med steak for me and well done for DH and both pieces were perfect and juicy and tender.

I dont like to take the shell off the shrimp either but it was worth the work, awesome plump and tender shrimp with a bit of a kick

We did not have an entertainment lady, we had a guy singing and playing the uke and having the kids parade around the place. It was alot of fun

Did you love the dessert??

We ate there last week and (again) found it to be one of the best overall meals of our trip. The salad is refreshing and crisp, the shrimp(now as an appetizer) is amazingly seasoned, and the noodles (replaced the cheezy potatoes) had a hint of lemon and come beautifully al dente. The fresh veggies were crisp and not overcooked and the steak and turkey were wonderful off the skewers. The pork was very dry at our seating though. The banana dessert with vanilla bean ice cream and hot butter/caramel sauce is addicting:goodvibes since DH and I were celebrating our 25th, the man who was leading the entertainment gave us leis for the family and we did an anniversary dance with another couple who was celebrating #7. Too bad you didn't enjoy the overall meal and entertainment, but there's plenty of other spots to choose from:banana: thank heavens we all don't like the same place:wizard:

We ate there last wek- its our favorite restaurant! Everything was wonderful when we were there and the entertainer lady was great with the kids, my daughter had a great time doing the parade, coconut race and limbo! We have eaten there about 6 times over the years and it was always A+

We ate there last year for the character breakfast - the food and service were excellent - we have an adr for this year as well.

'Ohana is my favorite place to eat in Disney! It does get mixed reviews though. Everyone has different tastes. The shrimp are advertised as "peel and eat" so this should not have been a surprise to you. I do know what you mean about the "entertainer lady". I believe she goes by Lipoa. She is a bit "over the top" to say the least. :rotfl2: I don't mind her, just think it's all part of the fun, but I honestly do prefer any of the other performers. We are leaving for Disney today and actually have ADR's for 2 seperate evenings there. Sorry you did not have a better experience.

We ate at Ohana for the first time last week and really, really liked it ... a couple of MaiTai's at the bar prior to our reservation time probably helped, but the food was great. The only problem we had was with the POLY resort itself ... the common areas were as crowded as the parks, the restrooms were gross (messy, wet, dirty) and there were lines at every one! Will do Ohana again but skip the drinks at the bar and proceed to our table post haste!

OMG, Ohana's was our favorite meal of the our entire trip (followed very closely by Le Cellier). We loved everything - the food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere, etc.

Ok it looks as though we are the only people to ever feel this way about O'hanas? There were 5 people in our group and we all thought it was horrible, I guess it was just an off night for us :confused3
We also ate at:
Califonia Grill - Loved it
Whispering Canyon - Not Good
Hoop dee doo - Loved It
Liberty Tree Tavern - Loved It
Teppan Edo - Loved it
So thankfully we did have some really good meals :)

I guess it is all in your taste buds ;) . We loved O'Hanas (probably our favorite), we liked Whispering Canyon, Loved Hoop Dee Doo, and did not like LTT. We have never been to TE, or CG.

Like every other restaurant at Disney World..."inconsistant". One day its the best; the next day its the worst. Mix that with people's expectations and you get some great experiences and some not so great.

Try it for yourself and take everyone's opinions with a grain of salt.

..first tried Ohana Jan 2008..then again in March and then again last week...I must say all 3 times were different...We ALMOST DID NOT GO DUE TO THE MIXED REVIEWS ON THESE BOARDS...and we love it ....we went last time without a reservation ....they graciously found room for us at a window no less and the food and service were very good....the noodles are better than the potatoes ...ours were a bit overcooked but its hard to serve noodles to masses...our meats were fine....for the price I don't think you can beat it..the beach is a beautiful walk after...
no doubt the lady entertainer is a bit wacky....I was kind of sorry she wasn't there last time as I wanted my daughter to see how crazy she is....it's all fun... I did bring the bathroom situation to the attention of housekeeping ( flooded)...they seemed to be going to take care of it quickly...MY ADVISE don't skip anything you really want to try because of what you read on the boards...and don't go to something just because everyone says its great if you really don't think you will like it ...We have made and almost made both of those errors...!! HAVE FUN!!

LOL----
California Grill- just ok
Whispering Canyon- LOVED IT!
Hoop Dee Doo-great show, ok food
Liberty Tree Tavern-good
Ohana- Loved it!
Teppan Edo-never tried it....

So, moral is- if anyone wants to try a restaurant then try it, don't go by others reviews because if I only went to the places louey loved I would have been in trouble since those were just ok for me- the ones he didn't like I loved!

That is excellent advice!:thumbsup2

We were just there last week, too and had a completely opposite experience. This place sounds very inconsistant.

Our shrimp was not served as an appetizer. It came on the skewers along with the meats.

The noodles were bland.

The turkey and pork were very dry.

The dessert was bread pudding with a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream that came with a small pitcher of warm bananas foster sauce to pour over the bread pudding. It was just OK.

Our service was beyond slow.

We will not go back.

I guess it just depends on which night you go, and if you get lucky enough to have a good CM serving.

Wow... may have eaten with some of you folk and not even known it. Our Grand Gathering also tried Ohana for the first time last week and it was awesome. The dumplings were great. Everything that came off the skewers was very flavorful. And I'm nota big banana fan... but the desert was terrific. I would certainly return to Ohana again. :thumbsup2

I have never eaten at OHANA but go to the Kona Cafe religiously. For real, I refuse to leave WDW without grabbing dinner or lunch (both are good but there's a noodle bowl on the dinner menu I am in love w/)

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Maybe you could try the Cafe next time.

...t.
