I finally got the Poly after trying for months and I'm thinking of making some changes to my ressies. I have a Chef Mickey's dinner booked and I've heard some bland reviews on the food. Now that I'm staying at the Poly, I was thinking of maybe booking the character breakfast there. All my DD said was that she wanted to eat with Mickey Mouse...which place would be more bang for the buck and better food? I'm on the DDP, so cost doesn't matter, just want a fun experience with good character interaction for my DD4 :)

We have done both and really enjoyed O'hana's breakfast much better. In addition, to being at your hotel, it is great to have the food brought to you family style so that you can enjoy the characters and get good pictures. My kids loved the maraca line around the restaurant led by Mickey. Mickey, Pluto, Stitch, and Lilo were there, and although my kids weren't big Lilo and Stitch fans before the breakfast., they loved his antics. It was our best meal of the trip!

I'd say Ohana. :thumbsup2

Food is really good and characters very interactive. Love the juice, love the fresh fruit plate, the pineapple sticky bread and all the eggs, sausage, bacon, Mickey waffles! Actually I'm kind of addicted to the Mickey waffles! Mickey is there and so sweet but to be honest, Lilo and Stitch stole the show! They are really funny!! The atmosphere here is soooo fun and relaxing! That's the big difference between here and Chef Mickey. We felt that CM was very loud, chaotic and rushed. The food was very good but we were starting to get sick of buffets.

So my vote is for Ohana!:goodvibes

Thanks for your responses! O'Hana's food sounds better and it seems like a more intimate atmosphere. I hear about CMs all the time and I know it is next to impossible sometimes to get a ressie there, and I was lucky enough to get one, but I'm thinking maybe O'Hana's is the place to go...

I'd go for Ohana then, especially since you're staying at the Polynesian!! Last trip there, we had breakfast TWICE at Ohana! My kids love it there. :goodvibes

We have done both and the character interaction at both was great but Ohana has better food than CM dinner...the food there was horrible

I would go with Ohana I think the food here is much better than Chef Mickey's and I like the way it is served family style as opposed to buffet. The only way I would do Chef Mickey's if I was you would be if you have never done it before , I think everyone should try it at least once :thumbsup2 Hope this helps , have a great trip princess:

Gosh what a hard decision!! We did both last fall but I would have to agree that the character interaction at Ohana's is much better and they spend ALOT of time at each individual table.. The food there is delicious so that is a positive too!

My family and I have had dinner a few times at Chef Mickey's and each time we found the food to be ok. We also had a great time with the characters because the intrection with them was amazing.

OHANA!! OHANA!! OHANA!! We were there for b-fast & it was our FAVORITE character meal the entire trip! The view is breathtaking, the character interaction was WONDERFUL, the food was excellent & the kids LOVED..and I mean LOVED....the character parade around the inside of the restaurant that they were able to participate in. They got a kick out of the "shakers" a.k.a. marachas (sp?)

The food at 'Ohana is much better than the dinner food at CM ! Also it's "family style" - not a buffet - so you don't have to worry about missing characters. We've done the breakfast at 'Ohana three times and loved it each time. Plus, since you're staying at the Poly, you can't beat the commute :)

Definitely 'Ohana!! You gotta do the whole Polynesian experience since you're staying there. :thumbsup2

well, I've been calling for two days and O'Hana is out :( I tried for every morning we are there and there was not one ressie available...I'll keep calling though and hope that someone cancels. You can always try to walk up without a reservation, right? EIther way, I still have my CM ADR and we'll keep trying for O'Hana...thanks everyone for your great responses :)

When you get to the resort, go to the Concierge desk and they'll do their best to accomodate you.

Would deffinately go with Ohana's. We have done both and Chef Mickey's is nice, but honestly the food was'nt anything great. And the character interaction was'nt as good as we have always gotten for breakfast at Ohana's. It's one of our favorites and a must do for us every trip.

Don't forget just because the Concierge desk at the Polynesian and Ohana are located in the same area, they can't do anything else if Ohana is sold out. For example a few years ago when my family and I tried to get a last minute ADR for dinner at Chef Mickey's while staying at the Contemporary, we went to the lobby Concierge and they said there were none left.
