Ohana - YUM!

The wonton "chips" were amazing - we ate the whole bowl, and it was just about the only thing that my DS2 would eat.

I'm glad you enjoyed the new menu. We are going in Dec. But I still say chips are chips...not wontons. We have been to Ohanas several times and we will still miss the "Real" Wontons. I'm looking forward to trying the other new items (potato, veggies, bread pudding).

We all loved the chicken wings (even DD5 - and I don't normally eat them) and the hot towels to clean off our hands was a nice touch.
We all LOVED the potatoes. Still don't really see how they're polynesian, but who cares - they were GOOD and we ordered seconds.

I agree, those were my two favorite things, and I rarely eat chicken wings also.

Thanks for the positive review. We have 'Ohana booked for our last night on our upcoming January trip. I was worried about that...putting it last. I'd hate to be disappointed at our last dinner.

Our dinner (7 adults) last Thursday before MNSSHP was FANTASTIC! Our servers could not have been better. All requests for "more" were met quickly and cheerfully. We went through 2 bowls of salad, 2 bowls of won ton chips 4 bowls of wings, 2 bowls of shrimp, two rounds of dipping sauces, and plenty of meat. The potatoes were awesome...wish I could have fit more than one small scoop. I was a fan of the old string beans, but the new veggies were very good...lots of variety. The bread pudding was to die for.

Yes, I mourned the loss of my beloved wontons, but since I couldn't scarf down a whole bowl of them, I was able to appreciate the rest of the meal more than usual. We had three 'Ohana vets and 4 'Ohana newbies and everyone said it was their favorite meal of the whole week.

Thank you for putting my mind at ease. Ohana's is by far our family's favorite place to dine and I was a bit put off by all the negative reviews after the menu change. We'll be doing a "first meal" and "last meal" there in July.

I don't know...If scalloped potatos and wonton chips are the standout items at the new 'Ohana, I'd be a little worried...

We had three servers taking care of our table and others, one gal and two guys. They were all terrific. Requests for refills came out quickly and the skewers began arriving as soon as the spuds & veggies were brought. We have alwqays had very good service at 'Ohana, but this was exceptional.

The only problem was the lady who does the entertaining had a bad microphone...it kept going in and out. It was pretty funny.

I am such a newbie. I was going to cancel my Ohana ressie. I forgot about the fireworks!!! I scheduled this as my very first meal at WDW!!! My kids will love it. It sounds like the menu is set...is that right?? Need to plan ahead for my dd who is allergic to everything.

2 questions.... Is poly easy to get to from POR? we will have our own car.

Which is better....Ohana or Coral Reef???

We commented on that too. Couldn't hear all the words. I looked for people dressed up, but didn't see any costumes. We got a castle/window view, which was nice.
We were given the bread pudding recipe by our waitress, after she extracted a promise that we would send her recipes as well. She used to work at 50[s prime time, and we actually had her several years ago, when we went. She carried her "mom" attitude with her to 'Ohana's

There is plenty to eat...I don't eat shrimp either. Wings, turkey, steak, sausage, pork, salad, potatoes & veggies were more than enough for me.

We drove to the Polynesian from Saratoga Springs with our car - no problem getting there whatsoever, we parked right in front. I haven't eaten at Coral Reef in many years, but based on my memory I would say this is MUCH better, and far more unique, than Coral Reef. Again, it's been 10 years so maybe Coral Reef has improved.

Don't knock 'em 'til you try 'em! The wonton chips were unique - I've never had anything like that before. And the potatoes were to die for... but I'd say just about everything on the menu was "stand-out"... loved the meats (especially the sausage and steak), shrimp and wings were good, I ate ALL of the veggies by myself, and of course the dessert was fantastic! The whole meal was a standout in my opinion...

Funny - it wasn't working right on October 8, either. They cancelled the hula hoop contest, and almost cancelled the coconut races, too! You'd think they'd have that fixed by now!!

We had dinner their on 10/20. It was my favorite meal of the week, even over Le Cellier (which was good, mind you). Our service was outstanding - attentive but not overbearing at all. The microphone was working correctly on that night too.
We had a table one back from the window and we had a wonderful view of the Castle and then Wishes. There was no audio on that night and I was a bit disappointed in that. We also saw the Electric Water Pageant from dinner.
I loved the new potatoes, (DH and DS wouldn't touch them), and my family loved the new veggies - especially the pea pods in them. The meats were very good, and additional skewers were offered frequently. I thought the appetizers and salad were excellent. All in all, a great meal and a good time.
This will now be one of our "Must Do's) in the future.

Ummmm...I have tried 'em. The chips were no replacement for the real thing and the potato's...what were they thinking? This makes me think of Polynesia how exactly?

I'm happy so many people are finding the watered down 'Ohana great, it's just sad to have everything at WDW edge toward the middle, IMO.

DH and I ate there Oct. 29. I thought the potatoes and the bread pudding were excellent, but wasn't overly impressed with anything else. DH loved all the food, but hated the rowdy atmosphere. We liked the feel of the room much better years ago when it was the Papeete Bay Veranda. Service was very good, although I can understand how working in that room could wear on anyone's nerves. We probably won't go back any time soon.

if you are allergic to shrimp, let them know when you are seated. they will make sure that you are served meat from the grill that did not touch any where near where the shrimp was cooked. my brother in law is allergic to shrimp and they brought him out some veggie egg rolls (the wontons had shrimp or crab in them)

Disney is very good with food allergies...

I think I have read that rice is not authentic South Pacific Island food either. For that we'd have to eat poi.

I have only eaten at the new O'Hana, not the old, and I liked it. I would have loved to try the pineapple and caramel sauce (although I love bread pudding - and it was good). All of the meats were very tasty, the shrimp were good, and the wings were too sweet but sort of hard to stop eating. Service was pleasant and prompt.
