Ohana with a Ginger Allergy?

So my family really wants to try Ohana for our July trip. I’m allergic to ginger and know that Disney is great about accommodating allergies so I feel confident I can eat there. However, I’m concerned that I will be left with very plain and bland food if most or all of the sauces and seasonings have ginger in them. We are going to go since my hubby & son want to eat there pretty badly - I just want to be mentally prepared with my expectations. Does anyone know how many things there have ginger in them or have any experience eating there with a food allergy?

I'm sorry I don't know anything about food if its bland minus the seasonings and ingredients, but I can vouch how great they were with my shrimp allergy. In 2017 we went to Ohana for the first time and I didn't know to make an ADR at that time. We amazingly managed to get a table as a walk-in and I told them about my allergy when we were sat at a table. They had the chef come out and talk to me.

I've eaten there at least twice since and knew I didn't have to worry!

That’s good to hear, Leigh! Thank you for replying.
Has anyone had any luck calling and speaking with someone at the restaurant when dealing with an allergy? Especially one that is not as common?

Hi, there! I think it’s a somewhat less common allergy. I know I have to be very cautious around Polynesian/Thai/Asian food. I usually just try to avoid these when dining our, but I bet Disney would be different. We went to Universal last year and ate at the restaurant at Royal Pacific for my husband’s birthday (Islands Dining Room), and the chef came out and talked to me and told me he’d make me something special and asked several questions about what I liked. He also said I basically couldn’t have anything, including most desserts, on the regular menu. He made a shrimp stir fry dish for me which ended up being fantastic. I was really impressed!

You probably won't be able to speak directly to the restaurant, but special diets is really great about helping. With advanced notice, I am sure they will be able to make you something tasty. The chef will come to your table to discuss your options.

We have eaten at 'Ohana multiple times where the chef has come out personally and discussed at guest's allergies. I feel confident you'll be fine (other than the price. :) )

My SIL has a garlic allergy and was nervous for Ohanas - but they were really excellent. They prepared her own dishes and specifically told her not to eat anything unless it was delivered to her from the chef. They came out with a ton of food and my SIL said it was all very flavourful.
