My Mom would really like to go here to eat and I wondered if you guys could give me an idea of what the food and entertainment is like. I would also like to hear what your opinions are of the whole experience.
Thanks so much
K :wave2:

We had a 5:00 ps on July 4th. We got there about 4:45 and there were already a ton of people signed in. We were seated right at 5 and had a nice table by the window at the end of the room behind the fire pit. My 6 year old (picky eater) was nearly in tears because there was nothing for him to eat.) We ended up ordering mac and cheese for him. My husband and I loved the salad, green beans, and shrimp wontons. I thought the shrimp was gread, but my husband thought the meat was tough. Soon after being seated we asked our server about activities for the kids and she said there would be coconut races in about a half hour. Nothing had happened by six and we were eating very slowly because the kids were looking forward to the activities. The server who was supposed to start the races never did, so our server got up and did it. (I know she did it for us.) After dinner they brought us pineapple with skewers and dipping sauce. It was the perfect dessert. (We also had pinapple bread with dinner, a little too much coconut for me.)

Overall this was my favorite of the trip. I really liked the ambience and the food was good. I don't know if we will go back again because of the rest of my family though.

We could eat at Ohana every night...We loved it and when we return it will be the first place we eat. All of our food was WONDERFUL and PLENTY of it. We heard them doing coconut races on the other side of the restaurant but we never saw it but I am glad because my dd4 was eating so well I would have hated for her to get distracted by that. Our fav. was the pineapple coconut bread..I think my DH ate 2 loaves all by himself...LOL

You really should give it a try I think you would like it A LOT!!!!!

I hate to be a naysayer but I think Ohana is really, really bad!! We had a PS at 7:00 and before we could have a drink our dinner was starting to arrive. The meats were overcooked and the rice was gooey. I will say that the pineapple was tasty. We were seated in the back of the restaurant so we had no view at all of the coconut races. My children were dissapointed. I think we were out of there by 8:00 and the bill was well over $100 for my family of 5. Try the Kona Cafe for a much better meal.

We are another family that LOVE this place and it is a must-do every trip. We always ask very nicely to be seated in the main dining room where all the action is. We may have to wait a few minutes extra, but we think it is worth it. And every time we have been seated right by the big window looking at the castle.
We have always been there thru a least 2 coconut races and hula hoop contests while we eat. There is also a gentleman who comes and plays a ukelele and sings.
The appetizers are great, my DD10 could fill up on the chicken wings alone, but she makes sure she has room for some shrimp. My favorite is the turkey, it has always been delicous. My husband loves the steak and pork. The dipping sauces are wonderful. I dont know what the green one is but I love it!
We will definitely be there next trip.

I had high expectations of Ohana when we ate there July 2nd. I had read many reviews of this being one of people's favorite restaurants, how fabulous the bread and pineapple dessert was, how fun the coconut races were, etc. I was really looking forward to this meal and it was a huge disappointment after expecting it to be so wonderful. It is good to read reviews and have an idea of what to expect, but everyone has different opinions. I probably would have enjoyed it more had I not been expecting it to be so great! ;)

I am also guilty of building a place up and then being dissapointed after the actual meal but..........this place delivers!! (IMO)

My DH (then boyfriend) and I ate here in November 2002 and absolutely loved it! Now anytime I talk about going back he says "We have to eat at that Polynesian place". God love him. The appetizers are wonderful and the steak and shrimp are to die for. You get so stuffed that you can't hardly eat the dessert but you have to because it is so good.

Be sure not to eat a big lunch on the day you eat here so you can get your money's worth because it is expensive. :scared1:

We loved Ohanas and make that a part of every trip. My children love the activities, and interaction with the staff.

It is a must at least once every trip. I am not a big meat eater and tell the CM at the beginning. They bring me piles of just the shrimp! We always ask for a seat in the main dining room so DD can participate in the fun stuff and we can watch ourselves. I love the wontons and the wings are delicious!!

This is a must do for family. We spent our last two New Years's Eve
here and our family loves it. Last NYE we went with another couple and
their DD age 7, they loved it too!

The food is very good, love the shrimp!!! and the kids have fun activities.
DD is usually a little shy about doing activities on her own but the first time
we came here she jumped up and was in the middle of the coconut races and
hula-hoops. We go around 8:00pm and the place is always busy. We are
going back to Disney in about 8 weeks and DD has already requested O'hana's
for dinner.

You will love it!

Our new favorite is Ohana's! My girls LOVED it! Even my picky vegetarian. We always do Bomas, Donald Duck Breakfasarous and now we have to add Ohana's to the list.
My 12yr DD ate so much shrimp I thought the hula hoop wouldn't fit around her! (LOL) My 7yr DD love the ukelee guy ( he sang tiny bubbles to her). Seeing WISHES from there was the topper for our evening. Enjoy!

We ate there last sept and it was fantastic. All the food was cookedperfect and was a little worried because of the negative reviews. My DS wa5 at the time and very picky but ate everything there and kept my plate empty as well which was a big shock. My DH who is picky as well said this is a must do on everytrip and wants to go more then once here.

Does anyone know what time the first seating is for dinner at ohana?
We plan to go to the x-mas party on Sunday,12/4/05 & would like reservations for a very early dinner, but I haven't been able to find Ohana's dinner hours listed anywhere.
Thanks for any info.

We ate there on July 4. We had a 6:40 PS but didn't get seated till nearly 7 pm. People were holding on to their window seats for the fireworks. We were seated right by the drink service window which I didn't mind because my DS1 can be loud!

The food was good. DH is a meat-and-potatoes guy, so he was not as happy as the rest of us. The beef was hit or miss...some skewers were tender while others were a bit tough. The pork and turkey were yummy. DH said the shrimp was good as well. DS1 & DS3 ordered a PB&J and Grilled Cheese from Kona Cafe. The server was a little late with those two meals but otherwise was great.

DS3 and DNeice took part in the coconut races and hula lesson. They had a lot of fun...especially since they were awarded gummy worms!

I think it is a fun dinner with lots of different foods to try.

If you like meat, you'll LOVE it. All you can eat, brought to your table in huge skewers. Absolutely a carb-free dieters dream!

The side dishes are nice, but the meat is...well, the meat of the matter!

When we ate their on July 4th, 5:00 was the first seating.

I'd like to eat there on my birthday this coming December- hopefully by the window so we can see Wishes. Anyone have a recommendation what time I should make our ADR? Should I mention my bday when I make it or wait until we get to the restaurant? Can I pre order a cake?

I am not a big meat eater at all. I just tell the CM that and they give me tons of shrimp. I LOVE the side dished as much as the shrimp.

First seating is at 5pm. We always do the first seating so we can head over to Epcot for Illuminations. Get there early because there is a line of folks without ADRs already in line waiting to sign up as soon as the CM gets to the podium.
