I’m debating if Ohana is better early (around 5) or later (around 8)?

obciously this depends on how one wants to do the park and individual circumstances, I’m just curious on thoughts.

if we go around 8 *maybe* we can see fireworks and then be done with our day.

I will say on our trip being at Ohana for fireworks was a wonderful highlight and made for a great ending to our day. Check to see sunset times for the time of year you are going.

We are currently holding out hope for an cancellation for Ohana. We have a 5 pm, which we'll do if nothing opens, but have all the alerts for an 8 pm booking

It's a big meal, so we like to skip lunch and get the earliest dinner available.

I think fireworks from outside the parks are extremely overrated. The designers of those shows create them to be viewed from Main Street. It's neat that you CAN see them from the Poly or California Grill, but it's not a very good view in my opinion and isn't worth scheduling around.

For our trip in July, I hope to get an early-ish ADR there so that day we do early entry to MK, take a pool break back at hotel, dinner at ‘Ohana then back to MK for fireworks and deluxe extra evening hours.

I’m glad to see someone state that. Seeing park fireworks from a distance is no better than, and perhaps less than, seeing one’s local fireworks on the 4th of July. I wouldn’t let being able to see them affect my scheduling at ‘Ohana. Focus on what’s inside the restaurant, the view of the Polynesian, and what best suits your schedule, and not take your attention away to look at what’s happening way over at MK.

I’m hoping to get a reservation at ‘Ohana when my block opens up next week and will try for one that allows me to be at the Poly for fireworks. Not because the view will be better than inside the park but because it will allow us to miss the huge crowd of people in the park and the mass exodus when leaving after the fireworks end. There is value to that I think.

Most tables inside Ohana won’t have a view of the fireworks. They are also notorious for running behind. I would try for the earlier time and watch fireworks from the beach after your meal.

I also disagree that the fireworks aren’t great viewing outside the park. I think they’re still fantastic from the beach or the contemporary. I prefer watching them that way, you avoid the massive crowds and can easily leave from wherever you are. Only thing you miss out is seeing the projections on the castle
