It looks like there have been quite a few negative reviews here..... Now I'm debating switching to a different dinner somewhere... We have ADR so far at chef mickeys, hoop de doo, San angel inn... Fantasmic lunch at mama melrose, where else should I consider for a dinner spot??? We are staying at GF..... Thanks

When we went in 2010 it had some great and some not so great reviews. We ended up going and loving it so much so that we have it booked twice during our February trip.

I think you will find that very few, if any, restaurants in Disney have ever gotten more polar opposite reviews than Ohana has. You will find those that absolutely love it, and those that can't stand it.

If I have learned anything about dining in Disney over the years, it is that you should go and see for yourself.

Mama Melrose often gets horrible reviews. I have been there twice and had great meals each time.

Cali Grill usually gets rave reviews about their service, and I had one of my worst service experiences in my life there.

I couldn't agree with this more.

I heard such negative reviews about Liberty Tree Tavern dinner but we went anyway and we had a fantastic meal there last night. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious.

I say of the menu and atmosphere appeal to you go ahead and try it. Better to try it and not like it then never try it and miss out on a wonderful meal.

I agree with above posters. After reading the reviews, I almost cancelled our upcoming Ohana ADR since we have never been. After talking about it for awhile yesterday, I realized that some of our least favorites (1900 PF and The Plaza), other people LOVE. Some of our favorites that we would not miss, get a lot of bad or mixed reviews. A lot of it may have to do with crowds at a particular time or your server. All I can say is that I am keeping mine and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Good points have been made here. Everybody's taste is different and people have differing levels of tolerance for restaurant service. Add to that an inconsistent level of training of the servers and chefs and you have a situation where one persons meal will be "terrible" and another's will be "wonderful".

We also have the view to try a restaurant for yourself before you decide.

Everyone likes foods differently. I am more of a savory eater but I do have a love for a very chocolate tasting brownies and sour desserts or candy.

There are several restaurants that we really enjoy and we are glad we tried them. I say do not cancel and try it out!

Just got back. We had a 9:25pm ADR at 'Ohana. One of us is a meat eater, one is a vegan. I actually think having a vegan gave us better service.

Here's what happened. It took a while to get seated (maybe 20 minutes after checking in), and then it took a while for our drinks to come and the skewer service to start....however, in that time, we spoke to the chef, we spoke with the waitress, and were served apps and such. While I did feel like it took a long time after the final accompaniments were served to the start of skewer service, I really didn't care. If I had wanted, I had food I could eat at the time. My gf was given a tofu stir fry, and though the meats werent really that great (good not great), all the extras were worth it.

Look at it like this: It's one table service credit for AYCTE....and not a buffet. I knew not to expect Plataforma NYC $70 a person quality food. I got to eat at a highly sought after ADR, all I could eat, did not feel rushed in any way.

What are you really expecting?

I guess maybe I should just go for it and try it - my niece is a vegetarian so ill be emailing them before I get there.

Don't mind the haters, this is one of my favorite restaurants and am going back in March!

You'll never really know unless you try it. Few eateries at WDW are super-high quality, and few places are truly lousy. So many people love the Poly and the concept of 'Ohana, they'd love for the food to be good (I count myself in that group). For my group, we've given up. For us, the food just isn't that good, the service varies wildly, and it's a hassle to get an ADR at a reasonable hour. Your experience may be completely different (except for the ADR part). In any case, enjoy your trip:earsboy:

Every restaurant has their 'lovers' and 'haters', probably more so Disney than anywhere else.

We 'love' 'Ohana and it is a 'must do' every trip.

Try it for yourself, then make your own decision - otherwise, you won't go to 'any' restaurant there if you just listen to the 'nay' reviews!

We hated it. I was actually kind of depressed about it. I snagged a great adr time and I'd heard such good things but alas...

I didn't enjoy the sweet flavor everything had.

Meats were tough or rubbery.

Broccoli was just broccoli.

Noodles gummy and cold.

Potstickers were hard.

And we we seated on the racetrack where they parade the kids around so twice I was elbowed, bumped, etc while parents dragged or cajoled some unhappy campers into the fun.

On the plus side our waiter was a delight!

WE ate there last week. I was super excited, but it was only okay. Service was INCREDIBLY slow. I had to ask for the bread four times, and when it arrived it was stone cold. The waiter did apologize.

The first round of meats was prompt, but the second took us asking for it more than once and waiting a good deal of time with empty plates. The tables on either side of us had the same problem. At one point we all were sitting there with empty plates looking at each other and remarking on how none of us seemed to be getting service. When the second round of meats came, they were dry and overcooked.

The meal wasn't a disaster, but I wouldn't rush to do it again.

We are among those who love it (and we eat at a lot of signature restaurants).

That being said, we've always had a relatively early ADR (5:30 pm or earlier) and, at that time slot, have always had above average food and service.

I'll agree with the critics that the meat quality isn't as good as a top end Brazillian steakhouse chain (e.g., Fogo de Chao, etc.). On the other hand, I've always thought the meat was cooked fairly well. Add to that the pot stickers, noodles, wings, bread, and dessert:goodvibes, and I've always left a happy camper.

This sums up exactly my thoughts after eating there a couple of weeks ago!

This is one of our must do meals every single trip to Disney World. We always eat at a normal time too - usually between 6:30-7:30. We've always been served promptly, the food is always good, and we love the atmosphere. Like the others said, it's not 5 star, but we really enjoy it. Every trip there might be one thing that could be a little better - maybe the pork was slightly overcooked once, or the broccoli wasn't as great this time, but there is SO much food and most of it is always really good, so we never have complaints.

[Go and see for yourself. I had the same problem. We went for the first time this past september and LOVED it. It was my family's favorite and they were so upset we couldn't get a second ressie while there.

Next trip, I will be booking it for two nights we're there.

LOVED IT!!!

Same experience here with LTT. We loved the dinner so much we ended up going there twice in September. Once with our ressie and once as a walk up. My kids still talk about it and want to go back twice again next year.

We tried Ohana for the first time this year as well and they want to go there twice next year too, LOL

We may end up giving up some of our regulars from the past to do those two places twice LOL

I usually don't like noodles, but loved the Ohana noodles.

So really it is something everyone has to try themselves.

My Dad loved the pot stickers and normally he hates those, LOL
