We will be two adults traveling without kids and on the DDP. We have been to Kona for breakfast before and have heard really good things about dinner. I currently have an ADR at O'hanas to coincide with wishes. Which would you choose? We have never done Kona for dinner or O'hanas.

Our other TS dinner choices are
Le Cellier
Coral Reef
Bomas

I am open to other suggestions.

Here's my two cents..We've never dined at 'Ohana, in large part because we usually have a vegetarian in our group, and most of hte rest of our family doesn't really eat pork. So it seemed like a waste to spend the money when we can't eat what's offered.
We have done Kona Cafe. The first time it was awesome, if pricey. On susequent trips we've been decreasingly happy, since the menu choices have been drastically reduced. I kind of like somewhat exotic foods, but I do have to avoid a few items - like pork, so I felt my choices were pretty limited there. The food was very tasty though when it did come. Everyone has enjoyed their food there, and the desserts are still amazing (so's the coffee press coffee). I can also say, they did have a vegetarian choice on the menu and a stirfry that can be made vegetarian. On our last trip, the service was pretty marginal, but it was just our server. Most other tables around us had much faster service.

I love the decor in the Polynesian, but we're dining at the Contemporary and GF next trip.

We'll had dinner at both, in July, and enjoyed O'hana, but Kona was absoutely our favorite! In fact, I've made ressies for both breakfast and dinner there for our December trip. :) Enjoy! Honi

I can only comment on Kona for dinner, just having been there last month. We loved our dinner there and thought the place was really nice and relaxing, love the seating there, really comfy.

I eliminated O'Hana from our choice of restaurants simply because the menu didn't appeal to us at all. We did walk through the restaurant after eating at Kona just to see the atmosphere there and can see why people like it. Oh, I was looking for the castle from a distance and because of a storm outside, some of the windows were fogged up and couldn't see much.

I think you would be happy at either place.

I think it's a matter of quantity versus quality. I view 'Ohana as a mega gorge fest (which some people actually prefer--a gorge fest, that is) with decent food, whereas Kona has MUCH better food IMO.

has anyone ever eaten lunch at kona? was it as good as dinner?

Yes! We love eating lunch at Kona as well. Just as good as dinner, just a slightly different menu.

We ate dinner at Kona last week and it was wonderful. I would definitely do Kona if you don't have kids.

After going to Ohana for the 3rd time, it's off our list. The food is just not good.

We've had many good meals at Kona at all times of the day. We try to go at least once each trip.

okay, great. we couldn't fit it in for dinner but really wanted to try it so we have an adr for lunch

I have done both and Kona is just so much better. The service was great, the food great - it fact it was all great! Ohana - well for us it was just about the opposite of everything Kona was.

Cool, you'll love it! My favorite lunch entree is the Beef Teriyaki Salad (favorite app: Sticky Wings)!!

Tough choice!! Very tough. Both are must dos. Kona is wonderful, and the atmosphere and food at 'Ohana is good too, and with wishes too, tough choice. Good luck.

Just wanted to tell ya, that you can't go wrong with either place. :teeth: Sure you can't fit in both places on your trip?? :teeth:

My husband and I went in Sept. just the 2 of us. We have never been to Ohana but we absolutely LOVED Kona and are going back again in March. It was excellent and the atmosphere is so nice !! :thumbsup2

While we enjoyed 'Ohana - it is much more about quantity than quality. On the other hand, our dinner at Kona last week was excellent quality in everyway and our best meal of the week (ate at 10 spots).

We counldn't decide between the two on our May trip so we tried both. Kona was so much better. We thought O'hana was rather nasty. Way too much unremarkable food. We'll definitely go back to Kona.

Kona!!! Ohana's is very loud and rushed. I felt like they were trying to turn tables over as fast as they could. Kids are running around, etc. Kona has wonderful food, you will love it!
