This is our families first trip so a meal w/ Mickey is a must...Which do you prefer - chef mickey's or Ohana?

Chef Mickey's for sure! Outstanding food and terrific service.

Never been to Ohana, but we love Chef Mickey's! We went there for breakfast in July 2008 and for dinner a few weeks ago. Both were great!

The breakfast buffet has a lot of variety, something for everyone. You can eat very healthy there, or really indulge! Character interaction is also great, and you get the see the 5 classic characters.

However, if your family is into Lilo & Stitch, then consider Ohana, as this is the only character meal where they appear, and you still get to see Mickey & Pluto.

Since this is your first trip, I think the place to see Mickey is the place named after him, Chef Mickey's.

Our family has eaten at both and enjoyed both.

Chef Mickey's has a lot more of food options on their buffet. Ohana food is brought to your table by the waitstaff. It's good, just not as much variety. I have to admit that I do enjoy being waited on at Ohana instead of going to the buffet line at Chef Mickey's. That way, I don't worry about missing a character visit.

Chef Mickey's seems to be more high energy and Ohana is a bit more laid back with the tropical theming.

Either one you choose will be a great option.

I'm undecided on this too. The Chef Mickey's reviews scare me away, but I'll really want to take DD to see the fab 5. I have both booked right now for breakfast and will decide soon which one to cancel.

We've not been to Ohanas since they switched it from buffet to family style (I don't like family style) and from Minnie to Stitch (we don't like Stitch). Chef Mickey's is not our favorite character meal, but we don't mind breakfast there (definitely won't do dinner anymore). I would go with Chef Mickey's for the Fab Five.

The Family style at Ohana's great. Always nice to be served and they do a great job. This is our favorite Character Breakfast, but Chef Mickey's used to be, so it is also good. My daughter absolutely loves Stitch, so it is a no brainer for us.

Ohana's!! They bring the food to you and the characters come to you! So much better then getting up and down to get your food. Ohana's is my favorite restaurant we eat there twice for dinner and once for breakfast every trip..lol.
I wasn't really crazy about chef mickeys.

Ohana was great! My husband and I went earlier this year. They gave us too much food! It was all good. And it was so much fun watching the interaction between Stitch and everyone dining!

Chef Mickey's was always my favorite Character Breakfast, until we had a bad time there last year. We're trying 'Ohana for the first time since 1993 this year. I'm not saying that our one bad experience is enough to discount it after so many good ones, but it definitely made us think that there may be better things out there.

Ohana is a must do for me every trip. The sausage is wonderful and I have only found it there and at Kona. I love that you can see the castle while eating breakfast. Never been to Chef Mickey's for breakfast.

Ohana is one of our very favorite character meals! The food is great. You don't have to get up and down going to a buffet. This was a huge plus for us with two young girls. Much more relaxing! And the Hawaiian bread they bring to the table when they seat you is TO DIE FOR!!!!! Our food at Chef Mickey was less than stellar. The character interaction was good, but we were positioned very far away from the buffet and the service wasn't great. I had high expectations and was disappointed.

I think it really depends on what characters they would rather see. My girls are Stitch and any Pixar crazy. If it's Stitch, they would rather do that than anything.

As for food? Well one a buffet and the other is family style. To me it's really hard to kill breakfast.

We love both Ohana & Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Ohana is a bit more "laid-back" because you don't have to go to the buffet. Mickey is at both. Chef Mickey's is a bit more classic Disney since it has the classic characters. My kids love Stitch too.

We did Chef Mickey's and Ohana (and 1900 Park fare) last time and as a group we didn't enjoy CM that much. It was loud and noisy and the characters just rushed around and wouldn't stay long. Other kids kept running up and getting pics while I was trying to get my kids and it was awful. We felt rushed and the sound was a bit overwhelming. I did enjoy the meal but the rest of the atmosphere ruined it.

At Ohana it is a bit darker and the sound is muffled better. The ceiling at CM is high so the noise travels and the ceiling at Ohana is much lower. The food is brought to you so you have little chance of missing someone. Every twenty minutes or so they have a parade where all the kids join up and they zig zag though the restaurant. It was fun, our waitress was really pleasent (she was from england and had a very cheery accent).

If I wanted to see MIckey again it would be Ohana, but we are doing 1900 again, much better food and the service was excellent.

Hope it helps.
