O'hana... Not very good?

I hate to be the downer of this thread, but...Ohana's is horrible (IMHO) Dried out meat, yucky appies, if your waiter is even around to bring them. Just a nasty experience all three times we went. Third time was a charm. We'll never go back! But that'll just open up another seat for those that love it. :thumbsup2

I don't get what you mean. What does Ireland have to do with Ohana's? :confused3

The apostraphy was not placed correctly. O'hana is irish...'Ohana is hawaiin...me I just leave it out so I don't confuse myself ;)

That's the nice thing about Disney, something for everyone!

I also think it is a very different experience with and without children. The entertainment is geared towards children, gets them involved, lets them 'run' around the restaurant and is pretty neat.

I have eaten there numerous times over the years, including a wedding rehearsal dinner for a friend.

The last 2 times we were there (one pre and one post menu change) were lousy. The last time was in September with friends. 2 couples, no kids.

The food was not good. I wanted to like it, but it was not good. The shrimp were inedible, mealy and icky. Very hard to eat peel and eat shrimp when it is covered in sauce too, I might add.

The meat was the worst. Service was sparse, the meat was touch and grisly for some at the table, difficult to get a well done piece or a rare piece. Waited >20 minutes for server to return with check. Drink refills didn't happen, and yes, we asked multiple people. Stoppped being worth it.

We now go next door to Kona for a lovely yummy meal.

The best thing to do is if it is interesting to you, give it a shot! It may be a favorite of yours. Nobody said we all had to love the same restaurants (well, execpt for Le Cellier of course :lmao: (j/k))

Have fun planning!!:cool1:

we love o'hana!!!
when you check in , ask to sit in the main dining room so that you can watch the kids race with coconuts and join in on the hula hoop contest!
food is great! we will be there on sunday, may 20 for dinner!

It is hard for anyone to determine what your family will enjoy. I did not book 'Ohana for our first family trip, but on the only night that I did not have an ADR my DDIL asked if we could try to get in. It is one of her favorite places. They were able to accommodate us. There were 8 of us and 7 thought the meal was one of the best. I was the only one who thought that it was just okay. We went again in January and we all enjoyed it. The wings are so good, the potatoes yummy and the bread pudding at the end is to die for.

That was my opinion. There are many who don't agree because preferences are very personal choices. I would suggest that you give it a try if the menu looks like something your family would enjoy.

I think that was in reference to people spelling it O'HANA instead of the correct 'OHANA.

From our experience, the review is totally on target. 'Ohana was the single worst table service meal we've ever had at WDW -- going back more than 20 years. Very poor quality food and loud obnoxious and off-key entertainment. We only tried it due to the raves from this bulletin board. We were sorely disappointed.

We tried Ohana's for the first time last week and we absolutely loved it. The salad was great, wontons and dipping sauce we didn't really care for. The chicken wings were awesome and the shrimp were so good we ate one bowl and asked for another. They were my favorite part of the meal...enjoyed them more than the skewers of meat. The potatoes were good, stir fry vegetables were okay. The meats were really good, except the pork was quite dry. The dessert was so good and we were stuffed but we managed to eat it anyway and wished we had saved room for more of the dessert. The banana fosters sauce over the bread pudding (I think that's what is was) was great and with the vanilla bean ice cream...we were in heaven. Would definitely go there again. You should try it at least once.

This was our favorite meal too. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. The food was great! He even brought mac n cheese for our picky DD upon his suggestion. We will definitely go back.

That said, the restaurant was crowded and loud -- if you don't mind those two things -- go for it.

How old are you? 2? :snooty: :hippie:

I guess that would make me about two years older than you...:rotfl:

Would you have preferred that I call you dumb for not knowing what an apostrophe is and how it should be used?

Move on, you got your answers. I'm really the wrong person to mess with.

I went to the dinning section to check out all the places I have ADR'S for our trip. I was surprized that O'hanas was not given a better review than it was. Should I rethink my choice?:confused3 This will be our last night in the world and I wanted somethng nice for my DGD and DH. We have been to crystal palace, so I didn't want there. Can anyone give me thier opinion on O'hanas?popcorn::

P.S. It's DINING, not dinning, SURPRISED, not suprized....did that make you feel better?

I'm crawling over the little fight to add my opinion ....:goodvibes

We went to Ohana in Sep 06 after I read so many good reviews about it on this board. We loved Ohana. We also went to LeCellier based on good reviews on this board. I didn't care for it. So, just try any place you think looks interesting and decide for yourself.

I liked the salad, the wontons were okay, but the sauce was delicious. I didn't try the shrimp, but DH said it was good. I HATE chicken wings, but I was hungry, so I tried them. They were awesome! The only chicken wings I have ever liked - meaty, tasty, not greasy. The potatoes were soooo good. I liked the veggies, but I like veggies. DH didn't care about them. We didn't try the sausage; the pork was okay. The turkey was delicious, and the steak would have been good, but I like mine well done. DH loved the banana desert. I thought it was okay, but I was also stuffed.

Our waiter was good, but not great. We didn't get drink refills, but were offered seconds on skewers (too full). I was also disappointed to learn later that we could have had a N/A speciality drink; we were not offered one.

The entertainment didn't bother me, but I wouldn't go back for that. My girls were too shy to participate. My youngest was tired and just laid in her chair. My oldest chowed down on the meat.

It was one of my DH's favorite restaurants (probably tied with LTT dinner). I enjoyed it enough to go back too. I wouldn't go there as my last meal. I would prefer to be in the MK for my last meal, but that is up to you. Also, we drove there from ASMo - didn't enjoy that.

All in all, I'd give it an A-.

Really? And why is that? I just don't see why someone would point out someone's mistakes. No, I'm not a smart person anymore. Not since the MS has taken so much from me. God bless and take care.:grouphug:

I INITIALLY DID NOT POINT OUT YOUR MISTAKES. I MADE IT HUMOROUS SO I WOULDN'T OFFEND YOU, BUT YOU FELT THE URGE TO CALL ME OUT AND ASK ME IF I'M TWO YEARS OLD. YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW, HONEY. DON'T DISH IT OUT IF YOU CAN'T TAKE IT.

SORRY YOU HAVE MS, BUT WE ALL HAVE OUR ISSUES, DON'T WE? POINTING OUT YOUR MEDICAL CONDITION HERE DOES NOT MAKE ME FEEL BAD ABOUT WHAT I SAY TO YOU OR EVEN FOR YOU. IT'S A WAY TO TRY TO MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE A POOR DEAR, AND MAKE ME LOOK MEAN. VERY SAD INDEED.
