My six year old is a super picky eater. He might eat the steak but chances are slim. We have an ADR for 11/23 an I think I have heard of kids options besides the family style meal. So my question is do they have a kids menu and if they do will I have to pay for him for the family meal and the kids options?

I believe you'll have to pay for the "family style" price but they will bring you other options for your child if they don't like what they offer. My friend just went recently with picky children and her daughter didn't like the food they had or their standard kid options so her waiter basically asked her "What will your daughter eat?" and my friend said she likes yogurt and crackers and they went and got those for her!!!

Whatever is available at kona is generally offered. Well if you ask.

Given the cost of Ohana's meal per person I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't be happy to bring you mac and cheese, a hot dog, burger, or even chicken nuggets. I'm sure somewhere on property (Kona or Capt. Cook) it can be found thus you'll be happy, and so will they.

yes you pay full price for Ohana so it becomes an expensive kids meal of nuggets or mac & cheese not the price of kids meal brought in for your child

You pay the listed kids’ price but you don’t have to pay anything extra for him to have what he likes.

Thank you all for your responses We love Ohanas so yes we will pay the crazy price for fries and chicken nuggets, not with enthusiasm but we will. At least my 7 year old will eat everything and loves Ohanas and is already talking about sweeping the coconut

I wouldn't bank on the coconut races. They didn't do them when we were there last year and several others have reported that as well. I think I've seen posts from some people that they did experience it recently as well, but overall the reports seem to be mixed.

He may or may not get to sweep that coconut. The races seem to be hit or miss lately.

Our first visit to the actual restaurant (we normally ordered the room service version in the past) was this past July and thankfully for my 9 y/o grand nephew they were still doing the coconut race; DGD who was almost 13 refused to participate in "baby games" :lmao:.

ETA: Our reservation was fairly late...around 9:00 PM and we were seated almost immediately.
The place was not at capacity and the wait and kitchen staff were in a "sweet spot" prolly because most of the toddlers and infants were gone and already in bed. We sat 4-5 rows in from the window and still were able to see the fireworks and Electric Light floating display. We paid oop since it was a split stay and our ddxp didn't start until our next hotel; worth every penny since it made our kiddos happy and their elders still enjoyed most of the food.

yes, sadly I know the games are hit or miss. I will have to remind my son that he may not be able to play. Our last meal at Ohana's was December 2016 and have great picture and video of my boys playing. We have also been when there was no live entertainment.

the kid meal food is also offered in addition to the regular food. My son only likes the steak from the regular menu and they happily brought him mac and cheese to go with it, and he loved that he got a brownie cupcake along with bread pudding. So don't be afraid to see if your little guy will eat the steak too, he can have both that and safer kid options!

When we took the kids they ate chicken fingers and fries. It was not worth the steep price for them to barely eat, but they were happy. They can do a lot of normal food for picky eaters which is great when the adults still would like to enjoy the meal
