Hello. Haven't been to Ohanas for dinner in forever (or since we had kids- feels like the same thing :rolleyes1). Thinking of doing it this time with our 8 year old- can anyone tell me if they still have kids entertainment ( I want to say coconut racing) and if so how often do they do it?

Yes, coconut races and the limbo. About once an hour, on the 1/2 hour Id say. We typically have a 5pm reservation and it starts around 1/2 hour after we get there.

I could totally see my daughter (20) and her friend (19) participating in limbo, maybe coconut races. Does anyone have any photos? I would love to see some.

From what I’ve seen at ‘Ohana, the games are meant for kids...from what I could tell, the kids participating appeared to be elementary/middle school age.

They are mostly for kids under 12!

I forgot too, they also have a quick hula lesson...

Oh well. That’s too bad. I guess we will be a part of the audience.

We were there in December for a full 90 minutes and they didn't do the limbo or coconut races. They did some hula lessons and acknowledged birthdays. This was a departure from past meals there and we were disappointed. If you are going for the games, I wouldn't count on them. If you want to go somewhere where you are fairly guaranteed antics, perhaps consider WCC.

We were there in March for dinner and we didn’t see any games either. We also couldn’t understand a thing the guy with the ukelele was singing.

I also was there in early March and there was no entertainment at all. My kids ere disappointed as they remembered all the fun from years prior.

That's awful. We are going with our 2 DGS next month and was looking forward to the hula lesson and games.

Did they have the guy singing?

My DH just said, yeah, disney doesn't want you to waste time watching the kids, just eat and get out.

The guy was singing when we went in March but we could barely hear him

No one singing the night we were there, or if there was we couldn't hear it. We were there for 90 minutes right around 6pm. It was disappointing !

Yes, very disappointing. If there isn't any kids stuff, I could keep the grandkids and let the rest of the family go. I could make a pack of easy mac in the room ....after all that's about all they would have eaten there. We were debating about doing this anyway. We have a 2 year old that sits for about a min and half, then meal times out is done in tag teem method. We all take turns taking him out while the others eat. Right now we don't go out a lot . LOL

'Ohana is generally late, I mean they start running behind at opening time, so factor that into the amount of thime you set aside for dinner. If you decide to go, plan on paying full price for the meal for the childen ( with the exception of the 2 YO) even if they only pick at teh food, and are offered mac and cheese. Very expensive meal if you are ambivilent in the first place.

Yes, we've been a bunch a times, which is why if there is no kids stuff, we may not go.

Last year, part of the family went to Boma and I kept the boys. I like Boma, but I don't love Boma (except for the soup...yum). I can get some soup at Mara for a lot cheaper.

We eat at 'Ohana every trip, so we've been many many times. Sometimes there has been the races, hula, etc, and other times not. It seems that when we've had later reservations (8:30 and later) there hasn't been any. The times we've gone between 5:00-7:30 or 8:00 there has been. Not sure if just a coincidence with the times or not though.

Good point. My reservations have always been right at 5 and we have always had the games...including last year.
