Looking at the Ohana menu for dinner, I'm not sure if there's much that would appeal to my 6 and 2 year old boys. What are your experiences taking kids to Ohana for dinner? Are there kid items available in addition to the typical selection? Thanks in advance.

We have eaten there twice, and our kids never complained. In fact our oldest son (9) absolutely loves that he can have as much grilled shrimp as he would like. It is a "meat" heavy menu with assorted grilled meats, which are yummy. I don't think they ate much of the beginning salads/sides, which was okay with us since that left more for us!!!

Dessert was fun for them; a huge snow cone served in a beach bucket, that they got to keep!

We sat by the window and watched the fireworks; the restaurant dims the lights when they go off. Also, they have coconut races that the kids can participate in. And now with Ohana as part of their vocabulary from Lilo and Stich, they have a better understanding of the theming.

PS - If you want some antics and adventures while dining, my sons also like Whispering Canyon (bbq). Not too often does the waiter throw around biscuits and warn the diners to beware that a customer is requesting a second serving of beans.

There is plenty of stuff for kids to eat depending on their taste-DD10 ate a little bit of all the meats and loved the pineapple and carmel sauce. DD3 ate a half a loaf of bread and a little turkey. You can also order off of the kids' menu at Kona Cafe. They have the basics--chicken fingers, burgers, grilled cheese.

I'd try not to miss it. Out of all the many restaurants we ate at last fall, my kids still talk constantly about O'Hanas and the hula hoops and coconut races. BTW, my daughter was not feeling well that night, and the wonderful waiter (who sat down to talk with us for a few minutes!) offered to bring her soup or anything at all that she wanted. She loved the food, just wasn't hungry.
I have a very picky daughter, 7, who devoured the sausage and turkey, and discovered she loved shrimp. They make it so much fun that the kids eat without worrying about what they're eating.

My husband, who leaves the planning to me and will literally cringe if I start talking about restaurants because he could care less, had one request this time: book O'Hanas for the first night!

The other neat place (although some will tell it's not the best food) for kids is 50's Prime Time. We loved it, and my daughters have called my son Sparky ever since then (much to his delight - not!). It's the whole experience and atmosphere.

Enjoy!

Never been to Ohana but have heard a lot about kid's games there. Can someone explain exactly what the games are?

My reason for asking is a bit OT-- I am having a Luau-themed party for my dd's sixth birthday a week from Saturday and I'm looking for activities.

I believe you can also order off the regular kids menu (chicken strips, fries, hotdogs, etc) at O'Hana's if you have a picky eater. I do, and we are going to try this at our upcoming trip. Took picky DD to LLT and she didn't eat a thing!!
Anyone else done this??
Thanks!

When we were there in June the kids' activities were the coconut race and hula hooping. In the coconut race the kids were given brooms and they had to sweep to coconuts around the restaurant. The older kids(12 and up)had to turn their brooms upside down--it was hilarious:p
