This year we decided to go back to Ohana. After hearing rave reviews we went there last year. We came away thinking overall it was ok, but didn't live up to the hype...except for dessert. DW LOVED the bannanas foster sauce over the bread pudding. She LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it!

So this year we decided we needed to go back...for the dessert. Of course the meal came with the dessert, and we were prepared to deal with the rushed service, dried meats, and the fact that DD10 (now a Disney adult) would be using her table service credit for a PB&J.

Our experience began by being led past many empty tables to a table that was next to the kitchen door. The worst table in the restaurant. :furious: I refused the table. The hostess said she would check to see if any other table might be available. I was prepared to leave when...heaven opened up, and shone down on our dining experience!

We were led to a table with a view of the lagoon, Cinderella Castle, and volcano pool. It was beautiful. Our server Becky, and her assistant Michael were as pleasant, and as helpful as could be. DD10 enjoyed the coconut races. DW & I enjoyed the special bread, salad, wings...and then the meats began arriving. The chicken, and pork were tender, juicy, and delicous! When our server came back to check on us I told her how much better everything was this year compared to last year. DW informed her that we were looking forward to the grilled shrimp. She told us that they normally bring those out last. Two minutes later, she brought them out herself! I'm normally not a shrimp lover, but these were delicous! Before long the assistant brought out more shrimp! Next there was more steak, chicken, and pork. Next the noodles, and broccoli were served. DW said the noodles were very good. I thought the broccoli was fine, except that I ate too much earlier, and had no room for noodles and broccoli! Then...what DW had been waiting 10 months for...bread pudding covered with bannanas foster sauce, and vanilla ice cream. It was delicous.

Ohana was one of the best meals we had last week. It was so enjoyable that I didn't even mind using DD10's TS credits for a PB&J. DW thought that in itself was a miracle!

Thanks for the review! We're eating there at the end of Sept. Can't wait! Maybe we'll get lucky and get a view like you got. Last time we stuck in the middle of the restaurant

Thanks for the review. We have been twice in the last two years and enjoyed both times.

Thanks for the review! It was good to hear about their meats! I have also heard stories. It looks like I will have to go see for myself!

Glad you liked it! DH and I went in early April and loved it, all the food was out of this world!

Glad to hear you enjoyed my favorite rest. on all of property!! I love meat!!!
Also, glad to hear of shrimp being back.....last 2 times we went they had removed it and replaced it with sausage........come on, sausage???

We wear hawaiian shirts when we go......we have been put at tables everywhere in the place...by the bar, along the center isle, along windows......been hit with coconuts, brooms, skewers, even had to sing with the Maitre'D.........we really dont care where we sit!!!! We love Ohanna!!!!

We will probably go twice on our upcoming Sept. 5 day trip without the kids!!

:cutie: We will be going to Ohana's in the end of Oct. I'm very excited, but am concerned that my daughter won't eat anything! I've heard references to alternative kids menu-Does anyone know what that means???

Hi
You can order her something like chicken fingers, (or nuggets), grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese. They get it from Kona, next door.

Yes, but be prepared to pay the full O'hana price ;) DS was extremely picky the last time we went but was considered an adult by Disney restaurant standards. So we paid $30 for a cheeseburger w/fries. But oh that Banna Foster and the view of Wishes was just spectacular :lovestruc

Now they have changed the menu (took off my potatoes :( ) and made other changes so we don't be going back :duck: Instead we'll go to Kona's and then watch Wishes from the beach :woohoo:

NO Way - The shrimp is back?

OOH they better keep it till next summer - That was the best part - I am so happy to hear that. The little shrimp were just NOT the same.

Over the years I've had good and so so meals here - we always go back. And as much as I miss the pineapple - the new dessert is to die for!

NO Way - The shrimp is back?

Yup!

When i went in March i told my server "Im here about the shrimp. You take care of me and i will take care of you"

When all was said and done i think a shrimp boat was dispatched "CODE RED" and that server and i both had a GOOD night.

I'm glad to see so many people who are happy with Ohana. DH and I have many friends who will not go there any more. I think it was my favorite meal on our last trip! Although...we did clean up almost everything we were given...and probably gained a few pounds that night ;)
