I know everybody much prefers O'hana to the Luau dinner show. Problem is that my husband insists on doing spirt of Aloha one night while we're there. (we've never been to wdw before, but he's got this in his head for some reason). Anyhoo.....I sort of want to go to o'hana because everybody raves about it so much. Here's the thing: We are staying at the Poly so I'm wondering if we eat at both Kona and Luau and probably several times at Cook's and even Kona during our stay....will we be eating alot of repeat foods? I mean, does the luau and O'hana serve the same breads, side dishes etc? Or...completely different items and meat for that matter? Since these are all in the same resort that we're staying I'm a little afraid of getting burn out of the same items over and over even though they are technically different restaurants. Thoughts?? I CAN'T dump the spirit show because hubster will throw a fit since this entire trip I've masterminded and he has literally had only one request and it was for that:lmao: So....also book O'hana one night? Or....too similar of food items to be worth the cost (we are staying 7 nights in Nov and I'd like to organize our meals to have variety throughout the week but I'm just so curious about O'hana because of how everybody raves about it!)
Thanx

DH and I have stayed at the Poly a couple of times. We have never even thought of going to O'Hana--we have seen the lineups to get in, they always appear too noisy to us.

That said, we have found the food at the Kona Cafe to be quite good, the menu is reasonably varied--I especially recommend the French Press coffee in the morning.

The food at the Luau is not very authentic, but was OK--I would avoid the chocolate dessert at all costs though--it is a kind of chocolate pudding with a sweet red berry sauce. I didn't notice any huge overlap with Kona, the Luau is more a kind of barbecue meal. The food is served family-style, a huge amount at each table.

I believe those who are very fond of sushi like the sushi served from the coffee bar area next to the Kona Cafe.

Captain Cook's was a madhouse anytime I was there, so I always grabbed stuff and got out of there. They do have some menu items in common with the Kona Cafe, notably the Tonga Toast at breakfast. They do serve Dole Whips.

Our trip is Nov as well, I actually had to make all ressies this morning, Ohanas and the Luau we have done numerous times same trip, and again this year. Food is nothing the same, bread and salad would be the closest. Meats are different, sides and desserts. Ohana's has the best dessert ever. So if you guys have never been give them all a try. They are all good, the Luau is a great show with good food. Ohanas is better food in our opinion.
