My first post here!

I just finished making our ADR's for my first trip to Disney in 15 years! We're staying at the Polynesian and I've read great things about O'Hana, and I managed to get an ADR but it means we'll miss our only chance to see the Spectro parade. I've got Le Cellier on the other Spectro night and I'm not giving that one up! I'd rather avoid a mob scene at the parade and enjoy a nice meal, but is it a sin to take a 5 & 7 year old to Disney and not see that parade?

Thanks everyone.

How about trying to get the first available dining time at O'Hana and then take the boat to MK for Spectromagic? Or lunch at LeCellier and then going to MK for Spectro?

If you haven't seen Spectro I wouldn't miss it.

I loved it, DH thought 3 times was too many when we went. LOL (I time was by accident we got caught in the parade route and couldn't go anywhere.)

I would try and book Ohana at a different time. Even right up until I left. Good luck!

and I'm a little spoiled because we go in the summer and it usually happens twice a night. You can keep looking for Ohana times earlier in the evening or you can look at Kona or The Wave which are both good and on the monorail.

I'd rather avoid a mob scene at the parade and enjoy a nice meal...

Since this is the way you feel I would avoid Spectro and go eat because it is a definitely a MOB SCENE and if your kids are like mine they would rather visit attractions than see a parade.

Since you are staying at the Poly, maybe you can try for a walk-in at 'Ohana? I know that walk-in availability is sometimes non-existent but maybe you could talk to the staff at the hostess desk when you check in at the Poly? Tell them you are really hoping to catch Spectro and you're trying for an earlier time? Friendly requests seem to go a long way at Disney.

I'm sure your kids would like Spectro. (BTW, if you find a spot in Frontierland to watch it, it's a little less mobbed. Better viewing than Main St, IMO) On the other hand, and I know this sounds mean, they won't know what they missed if you eat at 'Ohana. If it helps, my DD :lovestrucLOVES:lovestruc 'Ohana. It was her #1 request this trip. The games are so much fun for kids - the singer does a great job! So if you skip Spectro, the kids will still have a nice experience that they'd otherwise miss. I couldn't get a dinner adr :guilty: so we are doing breakfast there (still fun, I hear).

Have a great trip :goodvibes.

If the kids have seen Spectro, they won't know what they are missing. I wouldn't want to miss the parade but if you don't like crowds, you may want to. Either way you decide, you can't really go wrong. Both are great things to do! Good Luck!

Honestly, my kids didn't love spectro. And your kids won't even know it exists if you miss it. So I'd do what feels right for you. If You really want to see Spectro, then change things so you can. If, however, it's not a "must do" for you, then skip it. Your kids are still going to be at Disney; Spectro isn't going to make or break it.
