So I've been looking at Volcano Bay vlogs ahead of our trip.
There are two slides I am questioning about called the Oh-yah and oh-no?
At the end they have "drops" one is 6ft and one is 4ft, into a pool. The video I was trying to see if the pool was really deep and it looked like a sign said 10ft?
So do people wear lifejackets on this one? I've heard both answers but I am wondering if someone who has actually done it could answer. I would imagine the life jacket would scratch the slide or slow a person down. My son is 20 and autistic, He LOVES water slides (even the ones I say oh no to), BUT he doesn't know how to swim. Yes we've tried, for 15 years we've tried, so please no comments to "just get him swimming lessons" it isn't going to happen.
So is the pool for those slides as deep as I thought it said and can people wear life jackets?
I am not as concerned about the other slides because they stop and like a thin stopping gate or a more shallow pool and on a raft.

Also are ALL of the slides on the tapu tapu system? What about the two lazy rivers? (one with a raft and one with a life jacket? If the lazy river with a life jacket deep?)
As my son has "issues" I have heard that wait times can be super long and you can only tapu tapu one ride at a time. Not sure what to do in between those times with him.??

There also looks like a LOT of slides. Is it possible to do most of them in one day? (I say most because I'm not going on that straight not shooting one and I don't think my son will be either)

Please and thank you in advance

Before even getting on line for Oh ya and Oh no a team member will ask you if you are a strong swimmer so I wouldn't recommend someone who cannot swim to ride those. The water is 10 feet deep and you will need to be able to swim out of the water on your own.

Unfortunately I don't know if you're able to wear a life jacket but I would assume no.

Both lazy rivers do not require the tapu tapu so you can enjoy them anytime.

Cannot answer as an offsite guest but I've been able to do every slide when I had early park admission by staying at one of Universal's hotels. During the busy summer months it's an hour but during less busy times it's only 30 minutes.

I would just skip the 2 drop slides, the lines can be long even after your Tapu time since the previous person needs to swim clear before they let each subsequent rider go down. And he would need to be able to swim clear of the landing area regardless of a life jacket. It's deep, you cannot touch the bottom and you plunk into the middle with no sides or ropes to grab onto (it has to be deep enough for people to drop into without impacting the bottom). I really don't know about wearing a life jacket on the slide but I have heard that the lifeguards there typically have to "rescue" multiple people each shift; I would not want to have to be rescued if I couldn't swim. There are plenty of other slides to enjoy.

The lazy and fast rivers are separate from the Tapu - they are great to do while waiting on your next Tapu time to be ready.

Any slide without a wait will be listed as "ride now" - you can just get in line for those any time, including while waiting out an another slide's Tapu time. Early in the morning or later afternoon, or on chilly/slow days, lots of slides might be "ride now".

The idea with the Tapu is that it is a virtual line... rather than standing on the stairs in the sun for an hour wait, you wait 50min doing whatever else you want (lazy river, eat, wave pool, lounge, "ride now" slides, play with interactive Tapu features), then wait 5-10min in the physical line. So you can only be in one virtual line at once, just like if you were physically in line that whole time. But the wait is much, much nicer.

Nope. Skip those slides! I am an average swimmer, pools, lakes, ocean close to shore. I did the smaller of the drops and woah. You plummet into that pool. I’m tall and I didn’t touch the bottom which disoriented me and I quickly realized SWIM, I wasn’t gonna hit the bottom to push off it. They ask you for a reason.

I don’t even think it would safe to wear a life vest on this- or a number of their slides. Might want to contact Universal directly about what rides you can wear a life vest on and which ones you cannot.

No, the fast lazy river that requires a life jacket is not deep. It just moves quickly and there is one spot where they release some waves, if you happen to be looking in the wrong direction you can get some water in your face!

I have been to VB many times and skip the Oh No and Oh Yah slides now. The Taniwha Tubes (4 tube slides for 1 or 2 people) are often Ride Now. The Krakatau Aqua Coaster is a lot of fun and the one I recommend doing the Tapu for. The line is often shorter first thing in the morning so I head there first to ride, sometimes multiple times, then tap to get a later ride when the line grows. The rivers and wave pool are ways to kill time between rides. You can also walk through the volcano, there are a few places with special effects in there.
