Oh what a horrible trip!!!! Now for something completely different-Final blast ......

DCA definitely gives a Hollywood Studios vibe. I assume that helped the Imagineers save on design costs. It is a cool theme, though.

I've heard nothing but great things about that Aladdin show. Would love to see the engineering of the elephant!

Loving all your pictures but you are making me realize-----I need to start doing my planning!!! November will be here before I know it and I am no where near prepared.

Aladdin is one of the must dos on my list! The show looks amazing.

So, do I understand it right that they don't do rope drop in CA? They actually open the park and then start letting people in, correct?

Hope you had a great Easter!

Thanks for the map Pat. The place looks huge, but its probably not in real life. Very cool!

Oh, I saw that posted on FB! Have you looked at the open positions? It would be great if a DISer found their dream job!
Thanks for the link!

Bathroom by entrance – remind you of DHS entrance???

IMG_5672.jpg

I wonder if it has the coldest drinking fountains in the park, like at DHS?

My mind wanders as I wait for the show to start. To World Showcase. ;)

IMG_5691.jpg

Pat, I can't believe you said that! ;)

That's an awesome name for a hot dog place though.

This is just a wild guess, but I think that guy is wearing a fake beard and moustache.

Thanks for reminding me about the Aladdin show, I'll have to make sure it's on my list of things to do when I make it to DL. Somebody else reviewed it a year or two ago (my apologies to the DISer that I'm forgetting who posted it) and said the same thing, that it was fantastic.

Just popped in to share... Disney is having a job fair until April 7th

Disney Job Fair link

You know I just had some fun looking through the job postings. When we went to WVU we learned that one of their mechanical engineering students did his internship there and worked on the space mountain refurb. How cool would THAT be?

Lets see how this works. A cell phone picture of the CA map.

Okay this one showed up huge but while I see if I can make it reasonable here goes....

If you look in the lower right hand side you will see DVC and a path - that is the path you come into CA from GCV.

I walked past Condor Flats which has Soarin' and the Taste Pilots Grill.
Buena Vista Street is the new entrance, and I just took you down through Hollywoodland.

For all you PB haters..... I found some things.
If you into your user setting click on albums - you can add back the easy links and organize your photos with options to organize all albums. Kind of back the way it was. Still working on the resizing thing. Seems easy but it scares me. ;)

ETA: Picture still huge. It may shrink on its own eventually.

I may just break out the good camera to get a decent picture.

Okay finally that is better. :)

Thank you for the map! It does give a better feeling for how it is laid out. :thumbsup2. It is still hard for me to imagine how much of the parking lot they took to build this park.

Where is the Disneyland Hotel in reference to the map? :goodvibes

Great shots of Aladdin...ya think Disney could have done a little better job with the beards? :rotfl:

Loving the Hollywood Studios update!:thumbsup2

Sorry I missed this. The Hollywoodland section of CA is neat but a bit eclectic. Walking around CA I get confused. Soarin' in one spot, ToT in another.... :confused3

I didn't reaslize all the sections were named differently!!

Much Like DHS ..... but different. :upsidedow

Oh that show looks like so much fun!!!! I really really really want to go to Cali!

It was a well done show, I really enjoyed it.

I enjoy the shows, so I'm sure I would like this one. I doubt I will ever get out to CA, but if I do, Disneyland and San Diego Zoo are my priorities. And I would sure love to stay at Grand Californian. :thumbsup2

If you ever have the opportunity - DO IT, I really want to go back.

DCA definitely gives a Hollywood Studios vibe. I assume that helped the Imagineers save on design costs. It is a cool theme, though.

CA is a bit DHS and a bit hodge podge it seems. :rotfl:When I get over to Pacific Wharf you will see a whole different look. :rotfl2:

I've heard nothing but great things about that Aladdin show. Would love to see the engineering of the elephant!

It caught me off guard when he lowered down to get out the door. :rotfl2:

I can't wait to go back so I can look for things like that again instead of
"Hey did I just see that?" :lmao:

Hope you had a great Easter!

I hope you had a great Easter too. I hope I can help you a bit. Ask what you need to, I will help where I can.

I never stood out front at CA but also never heard of the entrance have a show so it was not thought of. I will say that Carsland does have a little show and actually a rope drop of its own. I do have pictures of that.

Thanks for the map Pat. The place looks huge, but its probably not in real life. Very cool!

I need to get the camera out and take a better picture. I really had a hard time finding a map online so I hope it does help people who are going to get the lay of the land.

Marking my spot:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hey, that was my spot!!! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I just keep think of the EPCOT dog path when I see that.

I saw that posted on FB - have you looked at the open positions? I didn't bother, but it would be great if a DISer found their dream job!
Thanks!

I browsed around and it was neat to look at but I did not have enough time to really look. :coffee:

I wonder if it has the coldest drinking fountains in the park, like at DHS?

I meant to check but the bathroom tile distracted me. :rolleyes2

Pat, I can't believe you said that! ;)

I thought so. Stopped dead in my tracks to laugh and of course take the picture.

:scratchin You may be right... :rotfl2:

Probably Brook? In fact she is still there :rotfl: She is the reason it was on my must do list.

You know I just had some fun looking through the job postings. When we went to WVU we learned that one of their mechanical engineering students did his internship there and worked on the space mountain refurb. How cool would THAT be?

I had some fun too looking. Not sure I am quite ready to pick up and move but man it would be fun.

Thank you for the map! It does give a better feeling for how it is laid out. :thumbsup2. It is still hard for me to imagine how much of the parking lot they took to build this park.

I hope to get a better picture up soon. Hard to believe it was parking lot myself.

Where is the Disneyland Hotel in reference to the map? :goodvibes

At the bottom of that bad picture the last red arrow on the right points in the direction of the Disneyland hotel. It is down and on the other end of Downtown Disney I believe. The Grand Californian is adjacent to Grizzley Peak at the edge of the map where the DVC is.

Great shots of Aladdin...ya think Disney could have done a little better job with the beards? :rotfl:

I was surprised as "cheesy" as they were.

Okay, I see it - "Hotels of the Disneyland Resort". Now I can picture exactly where CA is and how it is laid out. I wonder if there is still an entrance over on the other side where the original Disneyland sign and entrance used to be...at the set of lights. The old Hyatt Garden Inn was across the street..but on the same side as the entrance, about a block or so down, is the Candy Cane Inn.

Hope I will like it - although since I am not good about change, it will take time to accept and really like CA. :rotfl: Our second WDW visit was the January after EPCOT opened, we rode the monorail around but did not go in until the following summer visit. ;)

Thanks so much, Pat!

Loved your horrible TR, lots of great pictures & prose.

I like seeing the pictures of Disneyland, I don't think I will ever get there. Disneyland was the holy grail for me ever since I saw it on the old Wonderful World of Disney tv program.

I think I saw the Candy Cane Inn from the shuttle but that's it.

Hopefully you will like it and while I think CA is very eclectic and a bit scattered in a way eacch section has its own charm and identity.

Glad you enjoyed the horrible trip. I sure did. :)

DL and CA were different and yet very familiar. I hope I get to go back and be able to relax a bit and catch details I missed. :goodvibes

Back in the Hollywood Studios section. By the Mad T Party.

The ride- typical dark ride and blurry photos.. ;) It was enjoyable and I like Monsters but may actually choose the Laugh Floor over this ride simply for the laughs and variety factor.

WDW is getting something Monster-ish, isn't it, when they add to Hollywood Studios? Maybe not the exact same ride, but if we're lucky, something a little better. :) (And as for the Hollywood part of Studios, I think I heard that that is getting chopped, too. I said MGM long ago and then graciously changed to Hollywood Studios without any trauma. I pretty much say only Hollywood now - just my own habit - and now they're taking out the H in DHS and reducing it to Disney Studios. I don't know if I will do as well with this name switch. :upsidedow

I have heard a few rumors - one about a Monsters ride and one about Carsland coming to "the studios"

Have not heard of the Hollywood going away but I guess in Florida it makes sense. :confused3

Interesting signs Pat!!!!But none beat the Doggis Path!!!!:rotfl2:Have to find that in October !!!:)

The queue in the Monsters ride was cute. I did NOT see a doggie path in Ca.
The doggie path in EPCOT is a MUST do!!! I will see if I can find out where the ones are in each park.

Mike & Sully to the Rescue looks adorable! I think I need to ride that some day. Monsters Inc. is my favourite movie!
