Oh Toodles!!!

I'm going to start our must do list soon:
What was your familes FAVE part of each park?
What was your families FAVE place to eat when you didn't eat at GKTW?

Welcome April!!!!

I just found your trip report and I am so excited that you are going in May. That is when I will be going too and my DH and I will be volunteering at GKTW for a day during our trip! May 9 to be exact. You're the first MAW trip person on the DISboards that I know of that will be there during the trip, so it makes me super excited that I might get to meet you and precious January. What an incredible amount of obstacles she has overcome!

Anyway, I'm excited to hear all the fun plans you have for your trip!

Our fav parts for each park
MK: The magic/atmosphere of each land - for the kids, the castle and fantasyland are a must, but be sure to visit pirates (unless the kids are incredibly frightened by the dark) and buzz lightyear (even if they can't figure out how to shoot, its still fun) and monsters inc laugh floor (family fun)
HS: Toy Story Mania! - By far, our most favorite part. But we also love the shows here, Beauty and the Beast is a must for your little princess, but the show is 40 minutes long.
AK: The safari is by far my favorite. If you and DH are rollercoaster people, Everest is awesome, but for the kids, I would recommend the Lion King Festival show, its a very fun, but shorter show.
EP: Test Track! - But for your kids, I would recommend Innoventions. It'll be a great place to cool off and the kids can do all kinds of hands on type stuff without much wait (think science center/children's museum). Also, the Seas with Nemo and Friends. Very gentle ride with lots of fun visual effects.

Fav places to eat
MK: Overall, MK comes last in our preference for eating. We try to go to a nearby resort to eat instead (the monorail makes it easy to get to the Polynesian for a nice lunch break away from the crowds)
HS: Staring Rolls Cafe has the most awesome sandwiches, hands down! For a sit down restaurant, try Mama Melrose. We haven't been yet, but we're going on our trip. Its italian food and I can't wait to try their flatbread.
AK: Another one we don't each too much at - but we have had a table service at Yak and Yeti. It is a bit more expensive, and I don't think I would recommend it over any of the more fun atmosphere/kid friendly places. I hear that the Tusker House character breakfast is a lot of fun! Counter services places here aren't my fav, but there is Flame Tree BBQ that gets pretty good reviews.
EP: Best gourmet type food in WDW is here with all the different worlds having a unique table service place, but if you're needing a lunch break, go to Sunshine Seasons. Located inside, with a lot of seating, this counter service location has a variety of food, drinks, and desserts for breakfast lunch and dinner (oh wow...that sounded like a tour guide book...yes, I've been to SS a few times!)

Hope this helps and can't wait to read more!

Thanks for volunteering, this all would not be possible if it wasn't for the volunteers. Maybe we will run into each other. We plan on doing the character meets and breakfast every morning. Toy Story is on the top of our list. Last week, January was with her dad at a store and saw man with cowboy hat. She said,"daddy look it a cowboy!":lmao: She watches Toy Story every night before bed. Any tips for first timers to disney?

Our flight schedule: We leave WV on 5/6 at 2pm. We have a 1hr 20min layover in Atlanta. We finally arrive in Orlando at 6:30pm. On the way home we have over a 3hr layover in Atlanta. This is our first time fighting. We heard Atlanta's airport is huge so we have been looking at maps to figure out were everything is. Will it take us at least an hr to find the next gate? It will be so late when we get to GKTW. We will check-in, eat, and get ready for the next day.
Still need to add GKTW activities.
7th-Sea World
8th-(Mother's Day)Universal
9th-Hollywood Studios
10th-Magic Kingdom
11th-Animal Kingdom

Just Post this on another Thread

Well, I was looking around and found Hollywood & Vine. I made ADR for May 9th at 9:15 for Breakfast with Characters from Disney Jr.(Handy Manny,June, Leo, and Special Agent Oso) I'm crying now thinking about this..She loves all of them... I want to thank everybody on here because I would never knew about ADR before going to disney.. Our video camera is broke, but my DH will be buying one for this.. We're not going to tell her. Just go eat breakfast and see what she says because that will be our first day at WDW.

What a wonderful surprise that will be! Tears prick my eyes every time I hear stories about others' children's awe in the face of their favourite characters. I can only imagine my girls' faces. Definitely get that camcorder fixed before going! If she is anything like my daughter, she will want to see her own expression of amazement over and over and over....Glad you found the info!

Finally makeing my way through the PTR's. You are doing a great job on yours!!!! We went on our Wish Trip Sept 2009 so feel free to ask any questions you might have. Though, as you have learned, most of these questions can be answered on WishTrippers.

Just about two months left to go. Funny how time fly's when you are going to Disney!!!!!:woohoo:

All parks with breakfast serving restaurants let the guests in early as long as they verify that they have ADRs already scheduled. They have a list at the gate.

Your girls are beautiful!

Happy Planning!

Thanks... now just stressed about wdw with 10 months old.. I've been read PTR and TR all night and really can't find any with info.. Will places I made ADR for have high chairs? Kaitlyn is great baby. We can go out for the whole day and she enjoys it, but whole week in the hot.. I just want January to have the best trip because this is a trip of life time for her and I don't when we could go back. If anybody traveled with infant please help me? Do's and don't with a infant. Does the car rental place have car seats?

We had no problem getting a high chair at the three ADR's we did so I am sure that they all have some high chairs. You can always call WDW just to be on the safe side.

There are plenty of air conditioned attractions for the family to cool off in. And if it gets to be to much for the baby, head back to GKTW and relax at the pool or other great GKTW areas. You can always head back to the parks later. I know we all want to get the most out of our disney experienc, but who is really having fun when I kid is cranky and having a bit of a melt down.:)

As for the car seat. The car rental place supplied us with two. One for my two year old and one for the 4 year old. I am sure they have baby seats. Talk to your cordinator for more info. They can talk to the car rental place for you or at least give you the number so you can talk to them yourself.:thumbsup2

Awww, how sweet! I remember a story my mom told me about when I was little, every old person I saw, I asked my mom, "Who's grandma is that?" so its so cute to me that she thinks everyone with a cowboy hat is a cowboy! I would watch Toy Story every night too, its by far my favorite Disney-Pixar film!

First timer tips - Its soooo easy to be overwhelmed. When I planned our honeymoon in 2008, I became really focused on doing all the "cool" things that everyone talked about, instead of just focusing on things that I knew me and DH would like. So, consider everything, and then pick the top 3 that each person would like to do. You won't get to see and do everything, but if everyone gets to do their top three things, it'll make for a wonderful trip. And chances are, you'll have some of the same things on your list. :goodvibes

Also, take time to just soak all the sights and sounds in. Last year, I took my in-laws for the first time on a "real trip" (they'd been before, but didn't really go to the parks much as they did no planning, and it was years ago). I had made all these plans for every day, but a couple days into the trip realized that things were going to have to be different. They would want to stop and take pictures of random things that I would often overlook. They enjoyed the minor, little things. So while the list of attractions at a park might a mile long, its not a competition. ;)

BTW, I think that your ADR for Hollywood and Vine will be a super fun experience for January. What a great surprise to eat breakfast with all her favorite characters on her first day in Disney. Talk about a great start!

OH! Here's our schedule for our day at GKTW:
We'll be in the ice cream shop from 12-3 (YUM!), then the game room from 3-5, and then 5-9, we'll be helping out with Parent's night out (I think this is the best idea ever, parents deserve it)! I see you're going to be at HS that day, so hopefully I can hear all about your TSM fun!

I know I can't provide the answers you can get from fellow wishtrippers, but I hope this helps! Sending some encouraging thoughts and extra pixie dust your way today! :wizard:

We are thinking about taking Kaitlyn's smaller stroller with us to disney. It would be better for her to relax in. Also, great for around GKTW. For January, get a stroller at the parks for her. She can take breaks from walking and relax in it. I have a few questions about strollers....Remember I'm a first timer!! I saw a picture on TR, were does the stroller go before a ride? Are they safe their? Also, we are all first time flyers. I've been reading and reading about check and carry-on bags. What is a small stroller carry-on or checked? I read it's carry-on and another place said it need to be checked.. I would love it to be a carry-on because we have layover in ATL...

Thank you, I glad to read that you got two car seats. I read on another PTR that the state of FL doesn't require 3yrs old and up to be in car seat. They both need car seats.. I'm going to wait til' our cordinator call in april and ask about the car seats and the number to call myself. I need to make sure they have two car seats on that day. Did you take a stroller on the plane?

I've found great tsa video that shows how to take stroller on board... Also, found where all the baby stations at each park.

Hi!!

When I've travelled with young neices and nephews, we keep the stroller with us and then get a special tag at the gate. As you get on the plane, you can fold up your stroller, they will stow it for you, and then its there when you get off the plane! That way you can use it right away!!!

What are you most excited to do at WDW? Did you get your dates yet? Your little ones will have such a great time! Are they afraid of characters?

:goodvibes
