If you spend any time here, you've probably seen my ranting about ATA's web check-in and their talent for taking away my carefully selected seats. We use web check-in to save time at the airport and also to get exit rows. Due to late paperwork and other ongoing problems, we keep getting to the airport and finding out our seats were mistakenly reassigned to someone else, and it's been an ongoing battle to get them to honor our home-printed boarding passes.
We went to Orlando last weekend, and the woman at the check-in desk said we had the right seats, although she couldn't guarantee they weren't double-booked. She printed out boarding passes for us just in case, but she said there are constant problems.
Once on the plane, we settled into our favorite seats and no one else tried to claim them. It was so nice after four flights in a row of being moved or else battling to stay. Then a couple took the row behind us, and the man said, "I want to apologize in advance if I bump your seat during the flight." I looked back, and the poor guy was a GIANT! Crammed into a regular seat, his knees were nearly under his chin. After all the turmoil to get my favorite seat, I just couldn't keep it when I could offer relief. I offered to change seats, so he sat next to hubby and I sat a row behind, next to his wife. I have short legs, so it didn't matter as much to me, but I'm sure he was glad to have the comfort. It just seemed ironic because I pitch a fit when ATA takes away that seat, but then when they finally left me in it, I ended up not sitting there anyway!

That was ironic Barb and also very good of you.

I'm an alum of that school across 31 from duLoc BTW!

LOL! Barb - just admit it - you are just a really good person!

DH is tall and I know he appreciates any extra leg room.

Barb.....YOU are a super nice person.

I dunno...you'd be hard pressed to convince the ATA MCO gate personnel that I'm "nice!" They cringe when they see me coming because they know I'm probably going to ask for a supervisor and force them to talk to the web office in Indianapolis on my cell phone. :jester:
But as for giving up the seat, I like to think that any normal-sized person would have done the same. I had something the poor guy needed a lot more than I did, so why not do a favor for someone else when you can. :D
