We planned a great Thanksgiving trip to WDW this year and now we have to cancel. I live in Georgia, where all that flooding is. We didn't have as much damage as a lot of people, but we have significant water damage to our foundation and basement. $$$$. :guilty: I just can't see spending a couple thousand dollars at WDW when we have so much work to be done. I was going to start a kitchen remodel in the spring, but I think that will also be put on hold until we have more savings.

Ya'll pray that FEMA comes through for us, okay?

Yeah, we're pretty bummed about the whole thing. I hate having workers in my house and it makes my DH downright insane! We might be able to do some of the work, but we'll definitely have to hire someone to waterproof the basement. Sigh...

I talked it over with DH and I think we're going to try to do something close to home. We love to camp, so maybe we'll go camping for a few days before Thanksgiving, since the kids will out of school (I hope! you never know, since they missed 3 days of school due to all the flooding.) It'll cost us less than $150 and I think we could afford that.

And Christmas is only 3 months away.:headache:

i know it sucks, but you're maing a smart decision. After we went through katrina, Disney was the first thing to go, and in the long run, we didn't regret cancelling at all.

Sorry to hear this. We're in Ga too and had some minor flooding without any major damadge. I wondered when I saw the water if that would happen to us, but we were very blessed. You were blessed too, it just isn't as aparent. Maybe a better offer will come when the time is right.

I think you're right. Disney World will always be there. We don't believe in financing luxuries and a trip to WDW is definitely a luxury. We'll stay home and have our regular Thanksgiving. I declare my home a football-free zone, we put up the Christmas tree, watch sappy movies and bake cookies. It's a nice and cozy afternoon. And there's pie!

Oh, we absolutely ARE blessed! :littleangel: We have people in our church who have lost everything they own and they are just shell-shocked. Missing out on a trip to Disney is small potatoes compared to what they're going through.
