Ok so first I cheated, bought the store pie dough.....baked it no sweat threw away all the stuff...who would know but me and you guys! LOL!
Then I made my filling, decided leave the crust in the oven to filll...poured it in a wee bit full....pushed the shelf in....pumpkin pie splat all over...can I tell you it isn't very pretty on the floor or worse in the oven drawer!?!?!?
luckily I had a "dog" pan under the pies or I would have had a house full of smoke!
So much for me being Martha this year! :rolleyes1

 I'm sorry about your pies! I had to laugh, though. My mother couldn't make pie crusts & always bought them - either the mix or from a local bakery. And I can't remember too many pies that did not cook over! So burnt pie is an odor with which I'm very familiar. :teeth:

My excuse for not baking pies is that I'm diabetic. ;)

Mmmmm, pumpkin pie baking....smells good to me! Burnt pie or no, I wish I was having pumpkin pie this Thanksgiving. I love it, but I think I'm the only one who does. If it were up to me, I'd take a spoon to the pie, and just level that sucker off! (I love even not-so-done pie too! )

My dear friend Mrs Smith made a pie special for me. ;)

As far as the rest of the meal, luckily I'm married to Mr. Martha. :)

thanks for the chuckle...although I am quite sure you were not laughing when it happened. We are all such nuts, striving to be the perfect holiday hostesses...it sounds like you were having the same type of day I usually have when I decide to get domestic... :teeth:

I can remember a Thanksgiving in my much younger days when a ball of pie dough ended up on a wall in the kitchen, where I threw it, after wrestling with it for quite awhile. Store bought pie dough is my friend, keeps me from scaring my family. :teeth:

I am crazy enough to make homemade cranberry sauce but that Pillsbury Dough Boy makes my pie crust.

LOL at the pie crust on the wall. :rotfl2:
