Oh no!!

Just got back from 10 days at the Fort (site 1510) and started seeing love bugs when I left day before yesterday. I stayed overnite on the way home in High Springs at O'leno state park and the area was infested with them! On my way in a while to the local car wash to try to spray them off (once I unload about a thousand pounds of stuff from the Element). When I got to the state park for the night had to clean the windshield before heading out the next morning, could not see where I was going! North of Ocala on I-75 will probably be pretty bad in the evening, the morning I left they did not seem to be out yet.
Trying the dryer sheet tip before I head to the car wash, the front of the Element looks all black and fuzzy at the moment with spattered bugs.

Well....we are officially infested in Polk County. Had to wash the front of my Mariner after I got home from shopping today.

Uck Bugs!!!

I've found the dryer sheet method for removal works best if you wet the dryer sheet with you wash water and just wipe over then area you want to clean first, lit it sit for a minute or so then go back and use the dryer sheet as a scrubbing rag, they come off pretty easy. Works every year on our vehicles since we live down here in the love bug capital, Florida. By the way if you google dryer sheet uses you will find thousands of uses for the things.

Hey, I just got me a Mariner. Sangria red. First Ford product ever.

I bought mine last year. It's light sage. I named her "Sadie". She's been a great little truck. I only hope she lives up to her predecessor, my 1997 Eddie Bauer Explorer. 160K miles and the only thing I did to "Big Red" was replace a power window motor and one serpentine belt.

your way should be clear. I think I got most of those dratted bugs with my van!

We left the Fort yesterday and only picked up a few on the ride back down I-4. So far the bug crop is very light in the Tampa area. Little rain this month may have something to do with it.

For those of you traveling from the West, I can tell you that I just did a round trip from the Tampa area to Tallahassee over the past weekend, so up and down the Gulf coast, and no love bugs to speak of. I have seen a few flying around, but when I made this Tallahassee run this time of year in years past, my vehicle would be plastered. So far, this year seems to be down year for our little friends. :thumbsup2

Our car didn't catch any on the way over or back, but we were swatting them away walking around the World Showcase Thursday.

They are in swarms today on the East coast by Daytona. This is the 1st I have seen of them over here this season.

Just got back late yesterday. The love bugs were out in FORCE at All Star. I had to finally leave the pool because they were all but covering me within 2 minutes of getting out.

Animal Kingdom was especially bad. There were lots of unfortunately people on the tram on my way out of the park that had, umm, put an end to their love. They somehow got in my shoe and ended up in the car.

Oh no. That's where we're heading tomorrow.

I guess if I can psych myself up to ride Everest (I'm a ride chicken - I've never ridden it), I'll have to be sure to keep my mouth closed and not scream. :rotfl:

My DD reports bad love bugs from a round-trip drive between Tallahassee and Gainesville on Saturday. So that is north of Gainesville on I-75 to I-10 and then west on 10 to Tallahassee. She said her car and windshield were covered.
