Oh, no! Tropical Storm Chris

We're flying in on the 9th. I just want to be able to fly. I don't care what happens once I"m there but I sure do want to get there!

We are leaving Sunday, what should we do? I did buy the trip insurance through Disney, but I have no idea what that means, what it covers, etc. Any advice?

i live in south fl and we were suppose to feel the last tropical storm starting today, and the thing never reached us and we were sunny with a slight breeze and 90+ degrees all day

we have been worried about the heat and the crowds more than anything during our August (week right before school starts) trip. Of course I am praying that there are no serious consequences for anyone, but just this news alone could be a blessing for us. bring on the clouds and the rain and the over dramatic news reports to scare people away and cool that place off. okay, this may look like a feeble attempt to stay positive, but it's working so far - also just wanted to post so I could see my ticker. :woohoo:

My advice would be to go. We went 2 years ago and got stuck in Hurricane Jean. The parks did close that 1 day, but other than that, we had no problems, and that was a bad storm. Please try not to worry, you'll be fine! We are leaving Saturday and we are not letting it stop us!!

We leave Friday and I refuse to worry about it. If it happens to hit Orlando we'll deal with it. If it doesn't and people are scared off all the better.

Just letting you know, it's stronger up to 60 MPH

Having survived last years hurricane this looks nothing more than a day or so of rain. Go and enjoy yourselves.

we leave the 13th and i hope its gone by then and nothign else
please....please....please....please

1) Sorry about that.
2) But, this is Florida.
3) it is also Storm and Hurricane season.
4) You take the bad with the good.
5) Just come and hope for the best.

:sunny: I LOVE your philosophy :cloud9:

Well, if its in the Bahamas already, it should be gone by next week. We are driving down the 12th in the morning. I really hope everything's fine by then.

Go ahead and enjoy.

Poohbear, looks like between the FLorida straits and Cuba for now. It had grown in strength.

Of course that still leaves us in the cone and anything can happen. I think they said S. Florida to just check on it from time to time, but not to worry at this time.

I agree with all the posters about staying positive. It's too far away to tell what will happen, where or when. Plans are made and we need to pray and hope for the best. My only concern will be flying on Monday morning. We are scheduled to arrive in Orlando at 9:00 AM.

Prayers and pixie dust for everyone traveling within the next week :grouphug:

And I believe they are saying if it is S. Florida, it could be as soon as this weekend.

I am mainly worried b/c we are only going for three nights. We only have two full days, if it rains those two days then we are screwed. :(

Bring your ponchos. Good thing about rain, not as many people in the parks.

But I understand, it's a bummer when it rains too much.

I am no expert but they moved the projected path farther south, so it looks like it will pass south of Florida. :thumbsup2

Hopefully it doesn't curve up north to New Orleans after passing Cuba! That would be horrible for them!

Yes, I know, but if it DOES hit here, Publix will be VERY busy with people buying water/tuna/canned milk/sardines/Chef Boy R Dee/fresh fish/Meat/Milk etc........ :sad2: :rolleyes1 I was going to "play hookie" from work, but if it does hit, I may not be able too....... :sad2:

As long as the airlines are flying, I'm there. :goodvibes Just try to stop me!

Oh, we'll still go. We might be soaked to the bone every minute for 8 days straight, but we'll go. I despise rain. Really, really despise rain. The most miserable day I have had in a long time was the day last January that we went to AK and it rained the WHOLE time. More than 3 inches in that one day. It was our first trip ever and we only had 4 days, so I really can sympathize with those folks who have short trips planned. I'll be cranky and furious, but I have 8 days to go to the parks and MAYBE it won't rain continuously all 8 days. If I only had half that amount of time I would really be cranky and furious! But at least it won't be cold. Rainy AND cold would push me over the edge!
