i thought i understood that if i stay at bwv i was able to use bc/yc pools as long as i was on disney property.
that was one of the advantages of staying onsite--at least i thought so!!
also, is it true that if i do not want to use disney transportation i can drive to the parks w/o paying parking costs.:smooth:

If you are staying at the BWV you cannot use the pool at the YC/BC/BCV. You can only enter the pool area at certain places and they check your resort id to make sure you are staying at the YC/BC/BCV and give you a wrist band.

If you are staying at the BWV you can drive to the parks and not pay for parking. When you check-in at the BWV they will give you a praking permit to put on your dashboard and you will be all set.

If you want to valet at any of the resorts it is $6 not including tip.

I think it's a common misconception and that CM's should tell people at check-in to not use other resort pools.

One other thing...If you are staying at the BWV on DVC points you will be able to pool hop. In the past you were allowed to pool hop to the BC/YC pools. When they opened the BC Villas, however, that option was taken away. The Beach Club increased its room inventory significantly when the villas opened so the pool will be that much more crowded on a regular basis. DVC Members who are staying on points can still pool hop to other Disney resorts but are not allowed to use the YC/BC pool or the AKL pool.

Guests paying cash at any Disney resort are not allowed to pool hop to other resorts. The only acceptions are the All-Stars (guests at one may use the pools at any All-Star resort) and Port Orleans (guests at PO Riverside may use the pool at PO French Quarter and vice versa...although portions of these resorts are now closed for refurbishment so all bets are off).

Hope that helps.

As was mentioned, DVC members can't pool hop to SAB (the BC/YC pool) or the pool at AKL (I think the prohibition against pool hopping at SAB began way before the BCV were built, but don't remember just when). During busy times when pools are expected to be at capacity, DVC members are not allowed to pool hop either.

Yes, pool hopping to the Poly is allowed! The only exceptions are SAB and AKL pool. We just joined DVC at BCV and pool hopping was one of the deciding factors for us. SAB was one reason we wanted BCV. Pool hopping is not allowed if a pool is over crowded, but our kids want to try all the pool we can! BTW, I read about the rules against pool hopping in one of the guidebooks many years ago. I am surprised how many folks don't know! Disney should do a better job of informing them.

Pool hopping to SAB was sometimes restricted (during busy times) before the BCV but ended for good when they opened in July. We were able to use the option many times before that and miss it now, but understand the reasoning behind it. We'll just have to use our points to stay at BCV from time to time.
