Oh me oh my!! Am I getting cold feet? Am I just anxious?! Is this what I really really want to do? Oh my gosh and my move in date in on July 8th! Am I just confusing myself? I'm a mess!! :(

Dont fret, cold feet is natural. My DH and I have wanted to move for so long the day it happens I know I will pass out. The worst that can happen is that you wont like it, but at least you know you've tried. There is always the same path home that took you to where you go! Good Luck...I will and have been living vicarioulsy through your posts about moving! Prayers are with you and your children!

Fantasia, I've watched with envy as you've made all your plans.
I think cold feet is normal and that you'd be goofy if you DIDN'T feel that way............

look at it this way too, what you're doing ISN'T permanent. You can always move back or move somewhere else if you want to!

The only thing in this life that should be permanent is death......everything else in life can and should be flexible. (JMHO)

Good luck to you!

Fantasia, I just replied to your other post. Which apt did you finally choose?
I hope you decided to go with Hunters Creek. You will love it there!

This is going to sound ridiculous but do it, it works for me all the time.

Flip a coin and if what comes up disappoints you then you know that you really wanted the other.

Remember that you're just renting too, sign a short term lease and if you don't like it you can always move back home.

Christmaself, Do you love in Hunters creek? My neighbors are moving from CT this summer. They have had both houses and decided to move down south. They are like my DS8 and DS11 second parents I get teary every time I think about them not being outside.

I lived in Hunters Creek from 1996 until this past last June when we moved into Windermere. (Just a few miles away)
My kids all went to Hunters Creek Elementary as well as Hunters Creek Middle School and my oldest went to Cypress Creek high School but graduated from west Orange when we moved.

The location of Hunters Creek is great as far as shopping and WDW, the people are friendly, (everyone is from somewhere else)

The only complaint I personally had, was the Homeowners Association is a bit whacko, but that won't affect anyone in the apartments.

Thank you guys for your well wishes. And thank yousss for sharing your thoughts and infos. You guys are greatly appreciated.

ChristmasElf, I responded to your post on my other post. Thank you. I heard that Windemere is also one of the great place to live at in Orlando area. Metro West, Windemere, Winter Park and Hunter's Creek are the ones I keep hearing from the people that lives in Orlando. Good luck on your new place!!

palmtreegirl, that's it! Maybe that will solve my problem! Just toss the coin and see what my reaction if the coin doesn't flip to what I want it to be, then that's probably what I want to do! :)

Geezzz...I have come this far and I am double guessing myself! I did my little research, I just started to know the roads there, and the places to shop plus telling people down there that I am moving!

As far as my kids, it doesn't matter, they just go where I go. I do ask them and their replies are "Where do you want to live Mommy?" and "I will go where you go."

Good luck, I know how hard a of decision it is to make, we came really close to moving to Florida but in the end chose PA instead.

I, too, would be scared to death to make a move like that. But your kids are right...as long as you're together...everything will be alright. Sending some courage and good move vibes your way!!!

Just remember- if you don't like it, you don't have to stay there forever. I have read many of your posts in the past, and you have always sounded SO excited about moving to Florida. Just do it!

Thank you everyone for giving me some lift. I just hope that I am making the right decision. I don't do too well when it comes to changes. The biggest change in my life is when my husband passed away.

The only thing in this life that should be permanent is death......everything else in life can and should be flexible.
You are so right, I have choices and life should be flexible.

palmtreegirl, just curious, what was the reason for picking PA over FL? Thanks.

There were a variety of reasons but I the deciding factor came down to not wanting to leave my family.

Shortly after we decided to move to Florida my grandmother died, whom I was very close to. At first I was still set on moving since I've always wanted to live there & I love the warm weather and of course palm trees. ;)

DH got a job offer, we'd decided on a place to live(Hunters Creek) and we were all set to move when I started havings second thoughts, does this part sound way too familiar? lol So we really started thinking about it again, after a lot of thought and a coin flip we decided to move to PA instead.

I decided that life was too short and who knows how much longer my parents( and DH's parents) would be around and since we're so close and my kids are incredibly close with both sets of grandparents, I wanted to stay close to them. My parents have a vacation house in the same community we live in now and are going to be moving here this summer for good & my sisters also on her way here.

It turns out that my intuition was right about this being the place to be because my Dad was just recently diagnosed with Parkinsons disease, thank goodness were still close by because who knows how long he'll be in good health. I don't think I would've been able to handle being far away at this point.

It doesn't mean we'll never leave though, I think that ultimatley we will move one day but for now this was right decision for us. We have NO regrets but I'd be lying if I didn't say *what was I thinking* when it was -11 this past winter! ;) So for now to satisfy our need for our Disney fix and warm weather we bought into DVC. :teeth:

Sorry this got so long and good luck with your decision!

Fantasia,

I had so many opportunities in life to make a move like yours and I never did it. I really have huge regret in my life. At least if you do it and you don't like it, you can always go back. I say forge ahead missy. You'll be my hero!

you'll be fine and will look back and wonder what the deal was!

When we take chances in life ,it makes us more confident to do other things!!

cold feet, yup it is normal. I am in the middle of a move also, only from Central to South Florida, but I keep going back and forth between excitement and "what am I doing!!" I have been in Kissimmee for 5 years now and finally felt settled and I up and take a new job in a new area. I expect cold feet and doubts, I think that comes with any move.

As others have said, no move has to be permanent. At least by doing it, you will not regret not taking the risk. This is a great area and there is lots to do. Good luck with it all. Wish I was still gonna be around to meet you, but I will be in South Florida by the time you get here.

You sound just like me! I freak out a bit everytime I even think about our upcoming move to FL.  You hang in there, it'll all work out for the best!:sunny: :sunny:

From someone who has recently moved to Florida, every move has its ups and downs. I am covered with bruises from lifting boxes and falling over things, but I'm really glad I'm here. Other than the problem with our dog being scared by the everyday thunderstorms, things are going pretty smooth. Everyone we've met has been so friendly. We are slowly finding our way around. Exploring is really fun! Good luck to you!

I have read your posts beginning with the loss of your husband. Now you are making a decision that will change your life. It is time for you think about what is best for YOU... Do you really think that the move will help with your healing process and closure? If the answer is yes, then go for it. It is your time. You appear to be a young woman who has strengths that you probably don't realize that you have. Use those strengths and get on with your life. Enjoy what you have. Your children will adapt to the change. A new home, a new school, a new life. And for you, a new start.
Good luck and God bless. And as far as those cold feet, get a thick pair of socks. Seriously, go for it and don't forget that if God closes a door He always opens a window.

I think it is always scarey doing a big move like that! I envy you and I wish we were able to follow our dream about moving to Florida after DH was able to retire from the police department. Our dreams went away for quite a few years with his father passing away and him needing to stay here in Arizona to take care of his mother. I hate the desert and I really really wanted to move to Florida! Oh well.......

I wish you the very best and keep us posted on your move. Good luck and I know you will do well with this. BTW, your children are so adorable!
