OH NO!!!:scared1: This cannot happen NOW!:scared1:
We leave in 2 weeks for WDW!

She slipped on some spilled water and fell on the hardwood floor! :headache: She came up screaming and holding her wrist. I looked at it and it looked a little crooked...until I compared it to her other wrist, then it didn't look so bad. I am a paramedic with 10 years experience so "work me" kicked in. DH and I kept thinking "It can't be broken. She's moving it OK, it's not that swollen, she stopped crying..." Then, I started to recall all the little ones I have dealt with that had broken arms. Most of them weren't crying, moving their broken arms and weren't too swollen. Although I am SURE it isn't broken, I need a little pixie dust!:wizard: We would kick ourselves if we didn't get her checked out and it turned out that it was broken. So, DH is at the ER right now with her. I had to stay home with DD5 since DD3 wanted daddy to take her to the doctor. I am praying that it isn't broken. She was doing fine when she left the house and she is such a little trooper! I think she could handle a broken arm better than mommy and daddy could.

:grouphug:

Keep us informed! I'm guessing and hoping that your initial training and gut feeling were correct. You've done the right thing to have it checked, though.

Lots of pixiedust: and :grouphug: to your daughter. I hope all goes well at the ER and your trip to the world takes place as planned!

Here's a hug :grouphug: and some pixie dust pixiedust: pixiedust:
Hope all works out okay for you

Hopefully it doesn't turn out broken. My DD fell of her bike and seemed fine. Didn't look bad until 2 days later. Took her to the ER then and crack in her wrist. Boy did I feel dumb..... Luckily you're getting it checked out.

 Sorry for your worries - I know how you feel - but kids are like Bumbles - they bounce back! She will be fine and you will still have a great trip! I promise!

My DS fell from the monkey bars when he was 4 and had a TERRIBLE break - his little forearm was in a Z shape. In fact, the surgeon said it was the worst break he'd ever seen without the bone actually breaking the skin.:scared: Of course I had that pit in the stomach and ringing in the ears thing going on...but he was just fine within a day or two. It happened the day before 911 so I will never forget it...and DH and I were to go to Hawaii in a couple of weeks for our first ever trip w/o him. I wanted to cancel going but we didn't. He really bounced right back and went right on with life as if nothing ever happened.:flower3:

I hope it is not broken.

My daughter broke hers right before our Disney trip and she did get lots of attention from the characters and CMs. It did put a damper on water activities but we went to the spaa for a pedicure insteed. GF has a first time pedicure for little girls.

I just talked to DH. He said that DD is no longer complaining about her wrist, now it's her hand and pinkie finger. They took some X-rays and said that the preliminary readings show no fractures!  DH is there trying to tell the nurse that his "paramedic wife insisted that HE take her so that HE is the one that looked silly when nothing was wrong." I told him that I would be the one to look bad if something WAS wrong and she DIDN'T get X-rayed.

So, it looks like everything will be fine. Thanks for all the support. You guys are all the best!:grouphug:

I am glad that there are no breaks! I hope that she heals fully before your trip! Have a great time at the world!

Glad to hear she is okay. We went in August and exactly one week before we left, my DD4 was up all night complaining that her stomach hurt. She couldn't sleep and was doubled over in pain. Her symptoms convinced me that she had appendicitis and we wound up taking her to the ER at 4:30 in the morning. Turns out she had a urinary tract infection. I think as a mom you just tend to think the worst when they get sick, but better safe than sorry.

Enjoy your vacation!

Whenever I go on vacation, I just pray that everyone will be healthy and happy before we leave on our vacation. We went to WDW and the DCL in February and about two weeks before we left, my mom called me and told me that my nephew(whom we had spent Christmas with) had scabies at the time(no one knew he had it at the time). Apparently, those little bugs can crawl underneath your skin, reproduce, etc., but not show up as a rash right away. My kids had sat right next to my nephew on the couch watching a movie on Christmas Day! Later that night, I look at my daughter and she is frantically scratching her legs. I look at her legs closely and she has little white bumps all over her legs! We were leaving for WDW in 2 weeks! I was imagining her suffering with this, passing it on to us and then to everyone else in WDW and the cruise ship.

At the doctor's office the next day they determined that it was not scabies at all but rather a common skin ailment due to dry skin. What a relief! So I certainly know what it is like to have a potentially sick child right before a major vacation. Of course, I come down with the worst flu in years but am just thankful everyone else was o.k.

Hope it turns out well.pixiedust:

Always better to check. So says the mom who dragged her kid all over WDW with an abcess in his lung.

Hope all continues to go well for your little princess: and sending positive thoughts your way. You made the right decision having your daughter checked by doctor ::yes:: so your mind will be at ease and you all can enjoy the trip.

Have a great time pixiedust:

Children- they keep life interesting!! But would Disney be as magical without them once you have them? Enjoy your trip and be safe!!!!:yay:

We had our Spring Vacation booked in 2006. Then, one of our sons was told he needed double knee surgery and it was scheduled two weeks before we left!!!! We used a wheel chair for him. Yeah, it slowed us down a bit, but we still had a great time!
