We have been planning a big family trip (14 people) to Disney for this December for 2 years now. We have a beautiful 2 year old daughter but guess what I just found out? I am pregnant! :earseek:
I am so greatful for this VERY unexpected blessing. But I need some advice. I have a doctor's appointment booked for the 15th of this month and will ask the Dr. then but should I cancel our trip? A little background: I have had three miscarriages before our beautiful DD blessed our family - I actually had my first miscarriage at three months at Disney on our first day there. Dr felt it may have had something to do with the flight in my case. So we are totally not flying. I guess we will drive down and stop half way in North Carolina (anyone know any really nice inns there? Not a motel 6 kind of girl). DD was a high risk pregnancy with bleeding throughout. My question is at 7.5, almost eight months, if the doctor says it is okay, would you go? Thanks in advance!

I would definetly talk to your doctor. He knows everything about your previous preg.. Having said that, I know that if I already had one miscarigage while traveling to WDW I don't think I could go back again and truley enjoy myself while pregnant. I would wait unitll the baby was a couple months old and then take a trip...Just my opinion

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! I don't think there's any way your doctor will tell you it's okay. Not to fly or drive at 7.5 - 8 months, and especially with your history of high-risk pregnancy. Doctors routinely advise no travel in the third trimester, even with no prior history. You can't take any chances. I've also had miscarriages so I know the pain of that loss, too.

You will be disappointed about having to reschedule the trip but, OH MY, how wonderful is the news!!!! This is WAY BETTER than a trip to WDW. Just think how happy DD2 will be to have a baby sis or bro. Pick a new date for whenever you think baby #2 will be old enough and enjoy your pregnancy.

My in laws was treating us to a trip in 2002 (just like they are this year - 10 more days) to Disney World. I found I was pregnant 3 months before we was to go and I didn't want to cancel mainly because my then 8 year daughter had never been and I didn't want to cancel her 1st opportunity. Well needless to say I was in a wheelchair the whole time and I was anemic. I was so anemic that I had to have an emergency blood transfusion as soon as I got back it was dangerously low even though I was taking iron and followed my doctor's orders to the tee after that I had an awful pregnancy where nothing seemed right they even gave me another blood transfusion when I was 8 months. Surprisingly I am not anemic now and can keep wait on the doctor's think it is a miracle. My daughter (2 1/2 yr) is wonderful..

But my point is on my very 1st trip to Disney I was very disappointed I didn't see the magic and I think it was because I was pregnant and had to take it really slow and the morning sickness was awful plus part of the time I was in a wheelchair. If you could I would wait until you had the baby. Just so you would enjoy it more.

I went years ago at 7.5 months pregnant. It wasn't a high-risk pregnancy. The doctor said just don't go on any rollercoasters or anything that spins alot ( no teacups for me). I did pretty well. Got tired, but we'd just take a rest when I needed to--or I'd take a rest and dh would go do something with the kids.

If you feel good, and the doctor says it's okay, I'd go. If the doctor is concerned, I'd postpone the trip until the baby is 2 or 3 months. (Next trip we'll be taking a two month old.)

And, CONGRATULATIONS, children are such blessings.

I would take the wait and see approach. Each pregnancy is different and this one (and I hope it is) may be a breeze.

But if you have any doubts, cancel. Since it is such a big family thing, it might be worth cancelling now and rescheduling for the Spring, just because people will need to book airfare, etc.

Congratulations! How exciting!

I would probably postpone the trip if possible. If this is a big family trip, it would be great for everyone to enjoy it, not to say that you wouldn't have a good time, but you wouldn't be able to do as much.

My DH is an OB-GYN and he said, "Ask your doctor," of course. However, he did comment that taking such a long car trip is not a good idea at 7.5 months. You would have to stop quite often to walk around (keep your circulation going). Also, what if you did have some problem and you were stuck out in the middle of nowhere?! When I was 7.5 months pregnant, I wasn't even taking a 2.5 hour car trip to my in-laws, and that's with a normal pregnancy and traveling with an OB.

Good luck.

C*O*N*G*R*A*T*U*L*A*T*I*O*N*S!

What an expected, but wonderful blessing! :)

Obviously you & your doctor are the people who know and understand your situation the best so I would go with whatever they are telling you.

I lost my DD during my 8th mth of pgncy and I look back each day & wonder if I had only done this, or not done that, etc.....it is not worth the risk, IMO.

As someone else mentioned, you'd have to stop so many times along the way and with the changing weather (at least here in the NE) in the winter perhaps postponing until you can travel with your new baby might be the best option.

Wishing the best of luck with your pregnancy and for a healthy baby! :wizard:

Welovedis - so sorry to hear about your DD - big hug from me.
Jackie - hugs to you for your loss too.

You all have convinced me and I will rebook the trip for the spring if my family is willing. My sister was going to have a two month old anyway so I am sure she won't mind waiting.

Thanks again!!!

CONGRATULATIONS :cheer2: In my opinion WDW can happen any time. A baby is more important. Me personally, I would not risk the pregnancy. I know I am going to get Boo's for my next comment but your child is only 2 years old and she will enjoy and remember WDW so much more if you wait till she is a bit older and has a sibling to share the excitement with. :earsgirl:
