Ok, I'm ready to throw in the sneakers....I finished a half marathon on Saturday and did horrible! My body just wasn't cooperating, infact I did so lousy a 80 yr. old woman, pushing a oxygen tank, passed me!:scared1: I swear I couldn't believe it. She was pushing her tank in a baby stroller and I was running to try and catch up with her, but never made it. Seriously, you guys should kick me off the W.I.S.H. team!

OK, I am not sure you read what you typed but you .....

YOU FINSIHED A HALF MARAHON

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I think that is great,

I WISH and Pray taht I can finish the princess half.

I love the saying "Winners never quit and quitters never win." You won because you crossed the finish line. Bad days are part of being human. So many times we are harder on ourselves then we need be. Celebrate your finishing the race. I am proud of you. Please don't give up. You being able to finish a half marathon gives me hope. It is going to take me over a year to train for a half marathon. Keep going. You never know whom you can inspire.

Congrats on your half marathon!!!!!!!:dance3::dance3:

Remember the WISH motto

Dead last finish, beats did not finish, which greatly trumps DID not start.

Be proud of what you did, we are all proud of you:hug:

You did it! :thumbsup2 Did you run that race from one town to another in the mountains of CO?
Let's get together and snowshoe around Christmas. I'll be staying at Copper for a few days-I've never snowshoed but am going to try.

YOU FINISHED and in this lousy summer heat.

Bedsides, she had help. She never would have pssed you without the tank of O2 :confused3

HEY, STOP THAT!! You finished a half in August!!! Be proud. I can barely even face the outdoors now and certainly not for that distance...

And you know what, your oxygen dragging lady may have had a secret life as a hard core competitor for years... :rolleyes1 (Much like the old guy pushing the walker who came within steps of beating me and my mom at the Donald half...;))

Ha,ha...we really don't get alot of heat here and zero %humidity, but it was in the 70's that day. lol

The half started in Georgetown and went to Idaho Springs, Co. Really pretty course that followed the Clear Creek, so I got to see a few fly fishermen in action, which was cool.

Joan, where in Copper are you staying? I love to snowshoe, it's alot of fun and great exercise....keep me posted.

I realized that after doing so many halfs and a few fulls that I cannot complete the Goofy in 2012. My original goal was to do the Goofy, then do the DL half to get my coast to coast medal. I think I'll just do the Princess, then the DL half, instead of the Goofy. I'm just in too much pain the next day and doing a full marathon after a half, would be too much. That's ok because the Princess looks like a fun walk.princess:

You need to do the Princess...It was my first half and now I'm going for the C2C. You can do it!:thumbsup2

We're staying at Copper Junction 23-28 of Dec. I was looking at the free snowshoe activity. I get so cold riding the lift.

Joan, Copper Junction is across the street from us...you're closer to B lift?

 Been there, done that! At my very first half at WDW, I didn't do as well as I should have, could have, but I managed to finish in the awful heat and humidity...with some time to spare. My body ached, my feet had 4 big blisters...I was a mess. Later that evenining Steve (DH) looked at the results and, while laughing, told me that a 75 year old lady beat me by 15 minutes. I remembered a guy with crutches passing me but I didn't remember her. :rotfl: I got my revenge, though. I took a racewalking class a few weeks ago and although I was slow at it, I did beat the 93 yr old in the class. ;)

Hang in there!

Did ya push her into the bushes as you passed? Rubbin is racin:scared1:

Congrats on your finish!! You did it! Please don't be discouraged!

For my first half in WDW it took me 12 miles to catch and finally pass an elderly gentleman walking with a cane. I could tell from the way he swung his "leg" that it was artificial...yep, only took me 12 miles to pass a one-legged geezer (no disrespect meant - my XFIL used an artificial leg).

And I know you may be sick of hearing this, but you finished a Half!

There are a lot of us (myself included) who can't wait to say that!

Congratulations :thumbsup2 on your accomplishment.

I would have complained to officials about that old lady doping with O2. Gave herself a super edge over the whole field. That's just wrong. I think a 2 year ban from events is appropriate. :rotfl2:

Monte - you finished girl! Be proud!
We all have days that leave us feeling like we coulda, shoulda, woulda done better. But the fact remains that you got out there and covered 13.1 miles.

Congrats! :cool1: :cool1:

I just had to chime in because I was lmao:lmao: This past Sunday I ran a 10 mile race and I was third to the last person to finish, and like you I was ready to throw in the towel. :confused3
But then I thought about it and I would have never finished this kind of race one year ago. I'm sure just like you, I have come a long way from when I started and we need to continue because every passing day that we train makes us stronger. Keep it up :thumbsup2 Congrats!

Awesome job, Monte! You did it!! It doesn't matter where you finish it just matters that you finished!!

ha,ha,ha...thanks guys, this is why I love the W.I.S.H. team!
I've seen this little old lady at 2 other races and she's beaten my friend twice, so it's kind of a standing joke to try and beat her. Up until mile marker 8 I was maintaing a 14 min. mile, but after that I couldn't get my speed back up. I think this little lady was doing a 16 min. mile, which is awesome. If I see her in Oct. (next race) I'm going to say hi to her and congratulate her. I think it's so great of her to still be participating in marathons at her age!:worship:
