Oh, my poor brother and sil, they had an aweful trip to WDW!

SIL is a teacher, and for her 40th birthday decided she wanted to go to WDW with her family over spring break (her birthday isn't until October, they were celebrating early). So, they decided to drive down with my nephews age 5 and 3 and spend 5 days at WDW. The stayed at the BC with the dinning plan, the whole deal.

I talked to my mom today, and she said that my brother talked to her last night, and said that DN5 got the flu on the drive down. A few days later he felt beter but my brother and DN3 then got sick. I guess they didn't see anything other than the hotel room or the pool for most of the trip! The DN5 spiked a fever on the drive home!

I'm going to call them tonight to get more details, but I feel so bad for them! They were really looking forward to going, and now that both DB and SIL are each getting their Masters, they won't have time for a big trip again for several years!

I can totally relate to the flu bug and a WDW vacation. At least my drive home was only 90 minutes.

That is too bad that happened to them and hopefully they can have a do-over sometime in the near future.

I feel so sorry for them too!!

I can relate too, DS's first trip to WDW was when he was 1 1/2 yrs old and he caught the flu bug too. Luckily for him, and us, it only lasted 2 days. I stayed in the room with him and DH took DD to the parks the 1st day and then we switched on the 2nd day. Thankfully, no one else caught it!

That was how my cruise went last spring. My youngest DS was very sick for 3 of the 5 day cruise and I also had the stomach flu the first part of the cruise. It was horrible so I know how your brother's family feels. Believe it or not there will be a few good memories they will bring back.......I hope.

Oh that's horrible! There are few things much worse than being sick on vacation (being stuck in the hotel room, all that $, being sick, being sick, being sick). Horrible!

That is horrible and hope they are feeling better now. Are they still sick? Hopefully they'll be able to go again.

I met a really nice man in the laundry room at the Dolphin on our last trip in February. I felt just awful for him--he'd come for a conference and brought his wife and infant dd with him. The dd got dreadfully ill with a high fever. They'd taken her to the emergency room and were told not to fly until she was stabilized and her fever came down. So, they'd been stuck in the hotel room for the entire trip and couldn't go home with their sick baby.

My DS was hospitalized in Moscow, Russia when we were there with a staph infection in his nose. DH and DD stayed at the $300 per night Marriot while I stayed at the hospital with DS for 4 nights.

I can feel for your brother and his family. I had wanted to see so many things while we were there. DH is not a traveler and the biggest part of his time there was venturing out to a department store for something to do when they couldn't be at the hospital with us. Since he couldn't read the street signs and didn't speak Russian, he was afraid to do anything with DD. At least they had an indoor pool so he could swim with her for something to do.

I look at it as a reason for us all to go back to Moscow someday. Besides, the kids will appreciate the Bolshoy Ballet more when they are older, too.
