We just got the "relocation call" that POFQ will not be open for our trip in March. (Actually we are scheduled for March 6th and I guess it will be reopening on March 21st).

They basically asked what upgrade we would like?! I asked if we could get the Boardwalk and they said YES. For $33 more than what we were paying a night at POFQ. Is that good? I think it is.

YIPPEE.

Oh my that is fantastic
have a great trip

I think you will LOVE the Boardwalk. Location, location, location. And the Luna Park pool is okay too (Can't comment on the pool slide--that was in rehab during my stay).

That sounds like a GREAT rate to me! Enjoy the BoardWalk--it's one of our very favorite resorts. :)

I would have done it in a heartbeat! Sound like a good deal.

Ok, so now where do "hope" to get a room? Are there any "bad" locations at BW? And, how far are the rooms from the villas (my brother and his wife and kids will be staying in a villa for 1/2 of the week we are there, which is why I requested it). Details, Details, Details, bring it on!!

Oh, no- that's TERRIBLE!!!

(wanna know why? :teeth: )

You're being doubly spoiled. Now you'll ALWAYS want to book a deluxe, and you ALWAYS want to have such an awesome location!

An extra $33 over a moderate price is a great deal for the Boardwalk. Have a great trip, and remember to wear your lime green!

WOW...you hit the JACKPOT! It will be hard for you to EVER go back to any other resort after your stay at the Boardwalk! It's an incredible resort. :sunny: There are truly no BAD locations in the BW. When you arrive, inform the front desk associate of your brother's plans (BWV), and how you would prefer a location close to them. This should not be a problem. I love the POR too, but prefer the DELUXE accomodations of the BW, etc. Congratulations on your tremendous fortune, and the irony of being able to relocate/upgrade to the same resort as your brother and family! ::yes::

Congrats on the great deal! You will LOVE the Boardwalk. It's our very favorite resort!!!:teeth:

Wow, what an upgrade!!

Just make requests that you will feel comfortable with-smoking/non-smoking, close to an elevator if you need it, etc. and leave the rest to them. I think you will be happy with pretty much any room at the Boardwalk.

Enjoy!!!!!!

Congratulations! You definitely snagged a great one!

Boardwalk is basically one big building, with the villas taking up one 1/2 and the Inn rooms in the opposite direction. There's also some separate townhouse-type cottages that are incredibly elegant, and cost $$$$$. It's very possible that you could be at more than a 5 minutes walk from your family, but that's still a lot closer than POFQ. Enjoy!

Location at the Boardwalk isn't as big of a deal at the Boardwalk as it is at most of the other resorts. The Boardwalk Inn rooms are over the restaurants and shops between Spoodles and the ESPN Club. At $33 per night, I'm guessing it's going to be a standard room. When I stayed there in December, I asked the desk clerk just to give me a room with a decent room--some rooms over look rooftops or a loading dock area. I had a room of a garden, a partial view of the quiet pool, and a view of the Illuminations fireworks. I could see the top of some of the buildings from of the world showcase as well. I was on an upper floor (I think the fourth, but I can't remember off the top of my head).

I never made it to the pool during my stay. It was really cold there that week, so I didn't want to swim.

Oh, and the best part of staying at the Boardwalk is that's where Jellyrolls is located! It's a dueling piano bar, and it's loads of fun. It's 21 plus, so you can't take the little ones, but if you can fit it in, I highly recommend it.

The pool is great, with a giant slide that looks like a wooden coaster. The slide was too much for old me but my kids LOVED it. The whole area is very festive and there's a great bar/lunch place right there. Lots of action. There is also a lovely quiet pool. We spent a day here with friends who were staying at the Villas and my kids just LOVED it.

Have fun! What a nice surprise...

you lucky duck... some of us are paying the big $$ to stay there! :teeth:

Now you should read the BWI- FAQ thread. Some have listed room #'s and views, and reviews.

You'll be there about one week after me, I'll post a BWI review when I get back with room #.

:sunny:

Can anyone tell me when looking at the BW map, which side is for the "inn" rooms and which side is for the "villas" AND which part of the map would be the way to head to Epcot or MGM?

The Inn is over ESPN, Spoodles, FFish etc.. The Villas are over BRG and the shops. The walk to MGM is on the Villa side, Inn side closer to Epcot. As you look from the lake toward the resort, Inn on the left, Villas on the right, lobby in the middle. The luna park pool is on the villa side.

Hope that helps. :sunny:

Great deal! The boardwalk is my second favorite resort. BEACH CLUB is the best though!

Congratualtions!!!!!!!!!!! You have been sprinkled with a VERY BIG dose of pixie dust! That is an incredible deal. Relocations produce some incredible rates--you gotta love it! We got the Poly and the YC for $116.00 per night last yr over a relocation from POFQ also!
You will LOVE staying at the BWI. I am a DVC owner with BWV as my home resort and we absolutely love this resort. This is by FAR our favorite resort location on property.
Have a wonderful trip!!
