It will have been three years, but we're finally going back. We booked yesterday. Please may I share:

So, we're going to stay at the Raddison (at Manchester Airport) - we are toying with two nights before - one for spa treatments and a little pool time (DS9 is obsessed with swimming!), the second day to visit the viewing park and Trafford Centre.

Then, we're booked on the (now Virgin, previously Delta) flight to Atlanta on the 30th July. There's a Delta connection from Atlanta to MCO. It is the first time we have flown indirect - I'm sure to have loads of questions closer to the time....but it was so much cheaper!!

We then check in to Hard Rock for 5 nights, followed by 14 nights at the Contemporary.

We've got a full sized car (that should be big enough for the 4 of us right - 2 adults, DS16, DS9). All tickets bought - 14 day Universal and 14 Day Disney UK tickets. Free dining.

We're going to visit the Airport this weekend to walk around - how sad is that!!!

Anyway - we are completely excited and so looking forward to the planning (althouth DME scares me senseless!!!) Speaking of which - we have been given a 6 digit number to link to MDE - it doesn't seem to work!!!

Congratulations :)

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but a full size car won't ever fit the luggage for my family of four. We tried one year and had to upgrade in the hire car place. We take four full size cases (as large as Virgin allows) and four carry on bags. We always have to rent a 7 seater van or a 7 seater SUV to fit the luggage or two of us use ME from the airport with half the luggage so we can manage with a smaller car. That won't work if you're staying at Universal first though. This will also be our issue next summer so I'm going to have to suck it up and pay for the big car.

You will leave the Radisson just about the same time we check in :)

Happy planning!!!

How exciting! Don't worry about the airport thing, if I lived closer I'd totally do that ha ha!

We're just finalising flights, think we leave to go to Disney as you're returning. But also going indirect because it's SO much cheaper plus I kind of like getting off for a walk round half way.

In terms of the car when we rented we got a 4x4, it was pretty big but not a massive amount of boot space, we got 4 large cases in plus 4 carry on bags, but I think it involved us sitting with one big one the back seat. But I guess given it's only to the hotel and then from Universal to Disney you might be able to put up with it. You could use DME to go from Disney back to the airport. DME is the best thing since sliced bread and very easy to use.

The 6 digit number could take a few days to connect to your account so don't be alarmed, mine didn't work for a good week then voila.

I would not get worried about the car and bag room. We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 Children (16&14)

We have three full size cases between us and a smaller one - if I can drive up to Heathrow in my Ford Fiesta and fit us all in then I don't worry about the hire car.

If you can get your cases in your own car you should have no problem with your hire car - from my experience.
