I think that we both have valid points and that is one of the reasons this issue is so fun to debate. If it was cut and dry then who the heck would even care to discuss it? This thread would be pretty darned boring if that were the case.
You seem so convinced that I haven't read the thread. Like it's totally inconceivable to you that I could have read it and come to a different conclusion. That's what I don't get!
At last, Suri Cruise is revealed - but is it enough to save Daddy's image?
LEE-ANNE GOODMAN
September 06, 2006
TORONTO (CP) - After months of speculation about her very existence, Suri Cruise has been unveiled on the glossy pages of Vanity Fair magazine alongside her beaming parents, mega-star Tom Cruise and his girlfriend, Katie Holmes.
But is it enough for Cruise to undo the damage he's caused to his career and reputation after a year of couch-jumping, love-professing, Scientology-espousing and Brooke-Shields-baiting?
At first glance, not yet. Instead of silencing caustic celebrity-watchers, the photos of the 4 1/2-month-old infant, with her thatch of thick dark hair, prompted even more ridicule Wednesday about the allegedly publicity-mad ways of her father. The shots have also raised further questions on gossip blogs and websites about Suri's true parentage.
Among the observations?
-Suri looks older than she was when the photos were taken.
-Suri looks like two different babies in the October issue of Vanity Fair - just like the sets of twins television and movie producers routinely use to portray one infant character.
-And one of those Suris looks ... well ... Asian in descent.
"As much as everybody was hoping she'd turn out to be an animatronic Cabbage Patch Kid, the truth is she's just flat-out beautiful. And possibly Asian," reads a post on the gossip website The Superficial (www.superficial.com).
Canadian gossip chronicler Elaine Lui, the woman behind Lainey's Entertainment Update (www.laineygossip.com), agrees.
"The child is absolutely adorable. Gorgeous, actually," she writes. "But then again, perhaps I'm biased? Is it just me or do you see a subtle trace of my people in her features?"
Lui, in Toronto to cover the Toronto International Film Festival for CTV, says Cruise has a long way to go to mend his seriously wounded public persona if the hostile buzz on the web is any indication.
"Today, the debate is already raging all over the Internet - who does the baby look like, does she look like the parents, does she look like any of her ex-boyfriends, how old was the baby - these photos were apparently taken in July and some people think the child looks too big to be only three months old."
But Lui says Cruise is on the right track following the charm offensive he's been mounting in recent weeks. In the days after Paramount's Sumner Redstone stunningly severed ties with one of Hollywood's biggest stars because of the actor's bizarre behaviour, Cruise is apparently trying to repair his image.
He sent Rosie O'Donnell a bouquet of flowers as she began her stint on The View on Tuesday, and he's apologized to Brooke Shields.
Shields famously sparred with Cruise after he publicly assailed her for going on antidepressants following a bout with postpartum depression. Scientologists are against psychiatry and psychiatric drugs of any kind.
Shields revealed this week that Cruise came to her home recently to deliver a "heart-felt" apology for his attack - albeit more than a year later, and shortly after he was publicly humiliated by Paramount.
Nonetheless, Lui says, Cruise is playing his cards wisely.
"He's fighting back - he's salvaging what he can and he's doing it quite well," she said.
But she adds there's one absolute necessity if Cruise is to completely rehabilitate his image: he has to stop talking publicly about Scientology. (My note: but we all know he CAN'T stop talking about it. It's part of the whole religion & his thetan level, right CathrynRose?)
"We are all religious and we don't push it on other people, and the way he did it was really offensive to other people. As long as he doesn't talk about it, he's going to be fine."
She adds that beyond the sneering celebrity tabloids and gossip websites, Cruise is still extremely popular among a large demographic of women she calls the Minivan Majority.
"When he did the couch-jumping on Oprah and all of us were watching in horror, there were women in the aisles on Oprah screaming and practically fainting," she recalls.
"These are women who believe that celebrities really are just like us and there's no such thing as a spin doctor. They still love Tom Cruise, and people should not be writing him off."
TOM CRUISE (allegedly): Please DO keep "debating" with the trolls. It will be "fun" when this thread gets shut down by the Mods. Forget the amazing timing, that after 89,000+ views & over 2200 posts, now that pics of Suri have actually appeared and people are posting side-by-side comparisons to Kate's last 2 boyfriends, inflammatory posters suddenly appear with what start out to be normal looking posts at first, but turn out to be the ONLY thread one has posted to in the last 2 days.
Posters like these have amazingly, coincidentally been showing up on all other Suri-Gate forums, now that the pics have been released and people are getting too close to possible real theories. All the bickering has turned many of the regulars away - sliding what should be one of the hottest, fun Page 1 threads to Page 4. It will be beautiful when all these threads are closed all over the Internet before the nationwide release of Vanity Fair on September 12 and more people would have seen the pics of Chris Klein than have seen my last 2 movies.
Without these threads, no side-by-side comparisons, doctors weighing in on Suri's size & weight for 4 months old, Kate, Suri, the other kids & I can go back to playing in the front yard. I tear up thinking about it. It will be beautiful, just beautiful... until we need to manufacture a new media event.
ummm...BTW, I'm only 5'7".

It took quite a bit to find an issue of Vanity Fair. I walked around the city for quite a bit. I finally found myself in front of the Scientology/Dianetics Center here. They were standing out front holding the mag saying I could get a free peek if I sat & chatted with them. I figured, I'd go in, chat, not sign anything & take one for the Team.
They sat me at a table next to one of those Playskool blue toy thingies and kept offering me some punch to drink. I refused of course. But after a while, because I was so parched from wandering around the city, I thought a couple of sips couldn't hurt. It actually had a super sweet, medicinal taste, like cough syrup. I actually didn't want more than a few sips.![]()
Ummm, that's kind of the last thing I remember... I looked down at my watch & it was suddenly 2 hours later. I don't know what happened! And there was a huge, thick book lying nearby with my name on it.

As for the Suri pics, all I can say is, "She is the most beautiful, amazing baby I ever saw. Quite normal looking. She has a head full of very thick, black hair.

Yes...and it makes sense. If she had been preggo by Chris Klein, she would have told him. After all, They were together for 5 years, but she was only"dating" Josh for maybe two weeks and then... BOOM...Tom Cruise. I think if she were to have gotten pregnant by Josh Hartnett, she might not have known until she had entered into a girlfriend "arrangment" with Tom. Luckily for her, that kooky Tom, rolled with it and thanks to an at home ultrasound, to keep check on baby's growth, no one knew exactly how pregnant she was. I'm figuring late December birth and padding until it was convenient to give birth to you know who.![]()

BeckyEsq said:She was never cute and all-american. She was just a damned good actress. She should have won an emmy!! LOL
poppinspal said:I have to disagree. MTV once did a show where they followed her around and I couldn't believe how all-american she was.
poppinspal said:My other thought about Katie(I refuse to drop the I) is how freaked out she must be. I'm only a few years younger then her(I think) and I just keep thinking if I was in her position I'd be feeling pretty trapped. The best day of her life will be the day she gets away from Tom.
