Oh, Just A Few GALLONS of Pixie Dust! - A July/August 2012 TR

The Poly is totally Brady Bunch! Good call Marissa!

I can't wait to hear if you guys liked 'Ohana!

YES! I'm so glad you see it too. Thank you, thank you!! (I just took a bow but I guess no one saw.)

I actually posted it last night! Hope you don't miss it!

Your review of Ohana has convinced me that we DEFINITELY need to go there on our honeymoon! It looks so good and fun! That's so cute that your dad did a dance with you!

I :rotfl: at your one piece of lettuce! So over-indulgent!!!

Wow, really?!?! That's amazing! I hope yall will enjoy it as much as we did!

Hahha I know, one piece was way too much. I should have torn it in half. :lmao:

Read your update with pictures before work. Well, I actually missed the Ohana review, but I'll save that for later.

I like the pictures of the Contemporary pool. When I stayed at BLT I swam at the BLT pool, the Poly pool, and the GF pools. Unfortunately, I never made it to the Contemporary pool. It looks pretty fun with that fountain right in the middle of it.

Isn't it great just hopping on the monorail and being at your dinner destination. :thumbsup2 I have to admit though, I have always wished there was a way to put a path between the Contemporary and the Poly, but there isn't. *sigh*

I hope you enjoy it when you read it too!

Hahah well I'm glad I found them then. I just felt bad that I never got a chance to take them myself! Wow, really? That's awesome. Well, if you ever find yourself back at BLT, you'll have to test out the CR pool too! :thumbsup2 It really was a fun one.

It was definitely amazing! Being on the monorail is the most convenient thing ever. I agree, a walking path would definitely be nice! I guess it would be difficult because of the busses going in and out of MK. :(

It is only 8:55 am and I could eat all of that right now. I just love Ohana. I am so glad that you did too! We went for the first time in 2010 and we will always make that a must from now on.

Good to know that 5:00 was a great time to go. Do you remember if they did any of the kid things at that time? Trying to get our trip planned for next year.

P.S. I like 2 updates in a day :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hahha, I get it! I posted the update at like 10:30 pm or later, and I still wanted it then! Thank you! I'm glad we loved it too. That's a great must-eat place, if I do say so myself! I'll definitely be going back when I'm on the dining plan again!

It really was! Yes, there were kid things. At one point the singing lady led them around the restaurant, and I know they did hula lessons and stuff. Other than that, I'm not too sure. The entertainment didn't start exactly at 5:00, but around 5:30 maybe? I hope this helps!

Aw, well I'm glad! I felt like yall were getting ripped off with that first update, so I wanted to give ya the good stuff. :goodvibes

I agree - the Poly is soooo Brady Bunch! :thumbsup2

Glad to hear that y'all loved 'Ohana! It's hard to believe I was just there this past Friday night. Even though you're not a big seafood eater, I'm glad you tried a shrimp!

Love all the family photos! :goodvibes

Yes! Hahaha I'm so glad you see it too!

Thank you! We really did. Were you?! Aww. I know what you mean! When you get home, your trip feels like it was forever ago... it's so sad. Yeah, I wanted to try everything so I'm glad I did too!

Thanks! I'm glad! :)

Hi again! :wave2: I kind of stink at keeping up with TRs and commenting in a timely fashion. My usual rate could read something like, "You know when you said _______ like, 3 months ago? Yeah, that was really funny!" I lose track, then catch up over and over. I am really enjoying yours though when I am able to catch up! :goodvibes This is definitely a "it's not you, it's me" excuse that's completely true, I swear!

I just had to say that your Ohana update has me so excited for my trip! We'll be there on 11/8 - less than a month! I too LOVED the potstickers. I think my husband ate maybe one or two and I had ALL the rest, no lie! My favorites were the potstickers, chicken, steak and of course the best dessert on property - bread pudding! I'm actually a HUGE bread pudding fan and this is the best I've EVER had.

I love all of your Full House references. I can't really sit through an episode now but just remembering how much I used to love it is great! I think we're around the same age and it sounds like we watched all the same things (Home Improvement, Brady Bunch, Friends, etc.) so I totally get all of your connections. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to more!

Hey! Welcome back! Aww, please don't feel like you have to make excuses! I totally understand. I'm definitely glad to hear from you though!

I'm so glad! Wow, that's SO SOON! I won't lie, I'm a little jealous. :p Hahha that's AWESOME. Next time I go, I probably won't feel the need to taste everything... so I have a feeling I'll be eating plenty of those pot stickers. They are SO GOOD. Like seriously, why can't I have them for dinner? :sad1:

Thank you!! I'm glad! Well, we might be! I'm 23 (for a couple more weeks). I never watched cartoons until I was in like, second grade or something. So I always watched the shows on Nick at Nite and TV Land, and of course TGIF!!! Good times. I miss those shows. Anyways, I'm glad you enjoy the references hahah. It's nice when people can relate!

I'm glad you're caught up!! Please don't feel bad if you get behind again, I totally get that it happens! Thanks for commenting! :goodvibes

Great Ohana pictures! We just made an ADR there for January and it will be our first time eating there. Can't wait, it looks delicious, especially those chicken wings. mmm I've been drooling over pictures of those forever!
Looking forward to more updates from you! pixiedust:

I am going to stay at the Polynesian and eat dinner at Ohana our first night on my upcoming trip! Thanks for all the great pictures! I'm already way too excited but you just increased it even more!

Oh man, Marissa.... I want to go there. I mean, I wanted to go to Ohana before, but now? Now I have to!

And my dad feels similarly about the tiki men at boutiki. You know the one in the front enterance of the store? I'm pretty sure I have a picture of him posing with the chief, like he was captured by him. Hilarious! (or maybe just to me?)

:rotfl: I'm afraid of fish too!! I think we are the same person! I can't even explain how much seafood and fish freak me out!

OMG I love the Polynesian!!!!!!!!! It's so beautiful, and I miss it so much!

WOW. Ohana looks absolutely amazing! I love pot stickers so much, and that bread is wonderful!!!!! Ahhhh, I want to go so bad!! :hyper:

Hi Marissa, I am Finally all caught up on all the updates I missed while I was away and seriously your vacation just seems to get better and better:goodvibes

I, of course being me, have forgot almost all of the awesome things I wanted to comment on so I guess I will just have to try and wing it.

That cupcake looks amazing at Contempo Cafe...It's one of those things that you just get home from the world and are depressed that you didn't have one while you were there...Yes it looks that good and I don't even like chocolate.

Your morning at DHS sounds like so much fun! How bizarre that the wait time was off by that much, but it seems to be the norm sometimes. If you can believe it in our entire vacation Toy Story Mania was one of the only attractions we never got to as everytime we tried it seemed to break down or such.

Love the pictures of you guys in the sci fi car....too cute! Morning is definitely the time to take them apparently as it looks like you guys have the whole area to yourselves.

I laughed at your friends reference about the dessert containing no meat. Why is this funny? Because I actually understood it. I have only ever seen one episode of friends in its entirety and if you can believe it it was that one lol which greatly amused me that I actually knew what you were talking about.

Yay for the drawing class! Seriously one of my favorite things ever at WDW. I don't think your drawing is bad at alll....you should have seen my tinkerbell if you think yours is bad...I didn't even take a picture it was that bad.

The polynesian is seriously the greatest resort ever...and I agree that the smell is amazing! I think you gave the perfect review of Ohana, everything there is just so delicious. And i laughed when you said that no one goes to Ohana just for the salad...lol I'm a vegetarian and our waiter basically told us that same thing when we ate there this trip. I love that salad so much that were serving it and the pineapple bread as two things at our engagement party next month.

And now that I have seriously practically written a book I think that's everything that i wanted to say other than the fact that your TR is AMAZING and I am loving getting to read every update:thumbsup2

It's only taken me 3 weeks but I'm finally all caught up :D yay! We never ate at Ohana sadly but we did eat at Konaand man do I know what you mean about the Poly smell, it was so good! I was fascinated by that place! Loved it! Your food looks amazing, I'm definitely adding that to my list for when we go back, although none if my family are big peanut butter fans... Are the noodles really peanutty?!

I love your drawing of sorcerer mickey! It's not bad at all! I wish my family were more into drawings I would have loved to have done that! And Mmm those cupcakes, they look so good! We tried the red velvet one at Starring Roles and it definitely defeated me too, I split it with mum and she devoured it! Haha

Can't wait for more :)

Oh Ohana, how I love thee! I'm so glad you guys got a chance to eat there! I agree that the bread pudding is heaven on a plate, and I don't usually like break pudding either! I'm glad you guys had such an awesome experience!

Its it the greatest just to get on the monorail and hop to the Poly! Oh contemporary, you are the greatest! :thumbsup2

Yay, I'm so happy you had a good time at the Poly. I love every square inch of that resort. When Alex and I were there 2 weeks ago, we stopped by the Polynesian, just to spend a few minutes in the lobby and soak up the music and smells. :rotfl:

Ohana sounds delicious! Those pot stickers and bread pudding look amazing....I'm glad you were happy with your meal choice. The whole afternoon/evening sounds really relaxing and enjoyable. And kudos to you for even trying the shrimp. You have more drive than me!. :rotfl2:

Thank you! Oh my gosh, that is SO EXCITING. I'm seriously excited for you. It's such an amazing restaurant! Yes, the chicken wings are amazingly good. And the pot stickers are better than they look! When I saw pictures of them I didn't think they ever looked all that good, but I was so wrong. YUM YUM YUM.

You're sweet! I don't know when my next update will be up quite yet but it's nice to know someone's looking forward to it! :goodvibes

I am going to stay at the Polynesian and eat dinner at Ohana our first night on my upcoming trip! Thanks for all the great pictures! I'm already way too excited but you just increased it even more!

No way!!! You're staying there? Incredible! Have you stayed there before? Have you eaten at 'Ohana before? Okay, that was a lot of questions. I'm so excited for you though! And you're very welcome for all the pictures! I'm so glad I could help you get more excited. And thank YOU for reading and commenting! :flower3:

Oh man, Marissa.... I want to go there. I mean, I wanted to go to Ohana before, but now? Now I have to!

You must!!! You absolutely must! If I had to recommend only one restaurant it would be 'Ohana!!

Hahha we clearly have awesome dads! HAHAHA that sounds too funny! :lmao:

:rotfl: I'm afraid of fish too!! I think we are the same person! I can't even explain how much seafood and fish freak me out!

OMG I love the Polynesian!!!!!!!!! It's so beautiful, and I miss it so much!

WOW. Ohana looks absolutely amazing! I love pot stickers so much, and that bread is wonderful!!!!! Ahhhh, I want to go so bad!! :hyper:

Girl! We seriously are! Hahahah. I'm so glad you get it!

It's so awesome! You're so lucky to have stayed there!

WOW IS RIGHT. It is completely amazing. I mean, wow. The pot stickers were unbelievable. I just wanted all of them. AHH YUM. I just want to go eat there right now. So freaking good. You NEED to go!!! You should definitely go on your next trip maybe!!

Hey! I'm glad you're all caught up! Hahha yeah girl! And I'm not even halfway through yet!!! :woohoo:

Hahha that happens to me all the time, so it's totally fine.

You don't like chocolate?! Well, we'll talk about that some other time haha. But yes... that cupcake was just out of this world. I mean, I DO like chocolate but still. It was the best!

It really was! It gave me a whole new appreciation for DHS, which to be honest, I really needed! It was really crazy how off the wait time was, but it was amazing! OH NO! That really makes me sad because I love it so much! Although I didn't get to ride in December either so I get it, but ugh I was sad about that hahaha. Hopefully it'll be good next time!

Thanks! Yeah, I think it was getting close to lunch time, so we were in the right place at the right time I guess!

Well first of all, you need to watch more episodes of Friends! Seriously, best show ever. AND, I'm so glad you got the reference!

The drawing class is so much fun, definitely! Oh man, I think Tinkerbell would be hard! Mine probably wouldn't be great either. But thank you! Hahha I mean I know my Mickey isn't like TERRIBLE, but I feel like I could've done better. Not that it REALLY matters, but ya know. :rotfl:

I just couldn't get over that smell! So amazing. I want to smell like that. Oh I just figured vegetarians wouldn't even go to 'Ohana hahah. HOW are you getting that bread for your party? That's awesome!

I'm glad you're caught up now! Aww, thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoy it so much, it makes me so happy! :goodvibes

Hooray! Right?! That smell... oh man. It's perfect. I bet Kona was really good too though! Believe me, the food WAS amazing! Yall must go! Well, to be honest, I'm not even sure! They're worth a try, but you don't have to eat them, and the good news is that the noodles are only one small part of the meal there. :thumbsup2

Aww, thanks! Hahha yeah, it's kinda growing on me! Yall should try it out next time! It's not too time consuming, and it really is a lot of fun! Hahah yeah, I could not finish that thing! It was great though!

Thanks for catching up!

Oh Ohana, how I love thee! I'm so glad you guys got a chance to eat there! I agree that the bread pudding is heaven on a plate, and I don't usually like break pudding either! I'm glad you guys had such an awesome experience!

Ahhh, yes! Me too! I don't even understand how that bread pudding is that good. I've never enjoyed bread pudding before that night because it usually grosses me out! Thank you! We really did. :goodvibes

YES. It is the greatest thing ever. I will miss the Contemporary so much next time!

Oh gosh... it was. It just really was. I can't even explain how amazing the pot stickers were... ahhhhhhhhhh yum!!!

Hahha thank you! I'm just so brave.

Mmm... I love the smell of the Polynesian! And I know what you mean about feeling very Brady Bunch-esque! I attribute it to the open backed stairs.

I don't get the hot towel thing either. I got once on a plane to Switzerland and I had no idea what to do with it.

Your lei is so pretty! And now I see where your Twitter picture comes from!

Thank you! Oh my gosh, that is SO EXCITING. I'm seriously excited for you. It's such an amazing restaurant! Yes, the chicken wings are amazingly good. And the pot stickers are better than they look! LOL actually I am taking on a huge undertaking and making all these disney recipes from the park. I've been experimenting with many of them and am so far happy with the results so hopefully it stays that way and that i'm not ready to pull my hair out the day of the party. Luckily the bread recipe is not too complicated...my biggest worry right now is actually the breakfast lasagna from crystal palace...that one looks extremely complicated but alls well guess I will just have to try and see

Isn't the Poly beautiful? Those stairs always reminded me of the Brady Bunch too! The Poly is amazing, but you can definitely see that it's very 70's! :thumbsup2

OMG your 'Ohana update....:crazy2: That was probably the best, most detailed 'Ohana review I've ever read, and now I cannot WAIT to go there again! I mean, I love 'Ohana, it's one of my favorite restaurants, but now I'm even MORE excited! For noodles and dumplings and meats and BREAD PUDDING!!!! YUM!!! OMG...4 weeks need to go by and I need to be in Disney World NOW! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Isn't it amazing? Ahh, I want my house to smell like that. And myself. YES! I'm so glad that people get what I'm saying! I wondered where the Bradys were hiding the whole time. :rotfl:

I'm glad it's not just me! So far, nobody seems to know. Either that, or they just don't care to explain it. Hahahah. It was nice, but luckily I'm not TOO much of a slob and my hands never got dirty enough to need it. When I did go to use it, it was cold. :confused3

Hahah well thanks! I have it proudly displayed in my room. It's clearly very important. Yeah, it's my twitter picture! Good call! :goodvibes

Wow, that's awesome. Good luck girl! I wish I could help! Did you get the recipes from the Delicious Disney cookbook, or some other one? I really want a Disney cookbook and one that has that bread recipe is definitely worth my money!

YES. It really, really is. HAHAH I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Great minds think alike, I tell ya! I think the 70's vibe gives it character! I love it!

Oh my gosh! That's a huge compliment, thank you so much!!! It's definitely my favorite! Yum yum yum!!! I'm jealous that you get to go so soon! :p

disboards won't let me post. 3rd time trying...
sorry I missed the beginning of this tr! I'm here now though. few random comments after this morning's tweet:
I call them Mickey Mice too!
You have to be a 4 yr old boy to appreciate Lights Motor Action
I call them mickey mice too!

We also had a view of this lovely Tiki man licking a torch.

SDC13132.jpg

This is beyond awesome...I mean really!

Next time Ill allow myself at least TWO leaves of lettuce. ;)

Walkin' on the wild side!

Ohana doesnt mean broccoli.

Words to live by!

I dont really understand why I took this picture. Im guessing I thought it looked cool.

SDC13134.jpg

Oooooh, flaunt those mad photography skillz, girl!

He said: I dont do one. Two or three. :teeth:

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: I love a good CM!!

I was gonna eat some dessert (WEARING MY LEIS).

Life would be so much better if leis were mandatory dessert wear!

Then we found this happy Tiki man! He was just so happy. My dad was a happy Tiki man too, so he went and made a new friend.

IMG_3362.jpg

Your dad is more awesome than the torch-licking Tiki man!!

I just had to stop in to tell you that I am still here and LOVING your trip report. :wave2: O'Hana looks so freaking delicious! Of course, I had seen the photos on your mom's FB page, so I knew you had gone and had been eagerly awaiting your thoughts on it. :hyper: When I read your review, I immediately e-mailed my husband and told him he needs to decide when we can go back to WDW. He would LOVE O'hana and I would love to surprise him with it. :cheer2: Plus, I haven't been in The Polynesian in years and feel the need to get there. :beach: Also, they have Kona coffee at tThe Polynesian and my husband is a coffee junkie! :coffee: So yeah. Just had to let you know! I can't wait to read more. :thumbsup2

All caught up! *breathes heavily* Wow, I really did miss out a lot. Sorry I haven't been around much to comment. Ugggggghhhh... anyways, looks like a fun trip! And I swear your descriptions of food are making my mouth water. And, though I may have said this before on here, I don't know, SOOOOOO jealous of you staying at BLT! It's just so... pretty. Well, before I go on way too long like I usually do I'll just end this as I always do: Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

FINALLY sitting down on the couch, in my PJs, and my first stop on the DIS is your TR, because I've been dying to hear all about Ohana!

I do love exploring the Poly! It has fond memories for me from when I was a little kid going to Disney. One of the memories I remember was doing the Luau, then my brother and I sneaking into the pool and going down the slide over and over again.

That bread looks so good! I would probably eat it all and then yeah, be too full, haha.

POTSTICKERS ARE MY FAV. Seriously, I'm in love with them.

Haha I'm not even joking, this TR update is going to be the reason I order chinese food this weekend. :rotfl: Those noodles look so good.

I love when I get a hot towel! Either during a long flight or dinner, I always appreciate it. Gets your hands nice and clean, haha. I always find it super refreshing. But I agree, if they cool off then they're kind of pointless.

AHHH THE STEAK! I bet that is so tasty. The chicken looks super good, too! And it's all neverending?!

I heard the Hawaiian lady could be kind of annoying, was she bad at all? I'd never be able to get Matt to go up and dance, haha.

OH EM GEE. THE BREAD PUDDING! It's way different than the one at Raglan Road, which is my favorirte dessert in all of Disney, but that is seriously right up my alley! OMG it looks amazing.

Soooo maybe we will end up at Ohana afterall! Well, if there are any reservations. Your meal looks absolutely fantastic!

disboards won't let me post. 3rd time trying...
sorry I missed the beginning of this tr! I'm here now though. few random comments after this morning's tweet:
I call them Mickey Mice too!
You have to be a 4 yr old boy to appreciate Lights Motor Action
I call them mickey mice too!

That's okay. :goodvibes

I did appreciate Lights Motors Action. I thought it was really cool, but I just don't see myself being all that excited to see the same exact show again now that I've learned the secrets and how they do the stunts. But that's just me.

Hahah it's a good name. Glad you're here!

This is beyond awesome...I mean really!

Walkin' on the wild side!

Words to live by!

Oooooh, flaunt those mad photography skillz, girl!

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: I love a good CM!!

Life would be so much better if leis were mandatory dessert wear!

Your dad is more awesome than the torch-licking Tiki man!!

Hahah I'm glad you think so!

Always. ;)

Especially at 'Ohana!!!

Well thank you!!

It was too funny!

Ain't that the truth! I might have to start a new trend. Do you think I could get away with that at Narcoosee's?

Aww, he is pretty awesome!! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

Aww, thanks! I'm glad! Oh my gosh... it WAS so freaking delicious. Seriously! Ahhh that's awesome! I hope he'll decide that the answer is SOON! I bet he would really enjoy it! That would be so cute! Oh yes, I've been wanting to try that Kona coffee! I  coffee! Haha well thank you for letting me know! I appreciate it. :goodvibes

:mickeyjum

Uhh, YEAH you did! :rotfl: Juuuuust kidding. But really, it's totally fine. I get it! Hahah I'm glad you're enjoying those food descriptions... I aim for the drool. :lmao: Yeah, BLT was just fantastic! It basically can't be topped. Maybe you'll get to stay there someday too! :thumbsup2

Thanks for catching up! More coming... soon??? Tomorrow??? We'll see, ahahaha.

FINALLY sitting down on the couch, in my PJs, and my first stop on the DIS is your TR, because I've been dying to hear all about Ohana!

Hooray!!!

I do love exploring the Poly! It has fond memories for me from when I was a little kid going to Disney. One of the memories I remember was doing the Luau, then my brother and I sneaking into the pool and going down the slide over and over again.

Aww! That's cute. HAHAH no way! That's awesome. What delinquents yall were.

That bread looks so good! I would probably eat it all and then yeah, be too full, haha.

Just do what I did! Make sure you taste everything before you eat more than one portion of one thing, or else you might end up being way too stuffed! But yeah, the bread was amazing.

POTSTICKERS ARE MY FAV. Seriously, I'm in love with them.

Well let me tell you, those pot stickers... holy cow. I just want some right now and always.

Haha I'm not even joking, this TR update is going to be the reason I order chinese food this weekend. :rotfl: Those noodles look so good.

Mmmm... it's been way too long since I had Chinese! :rotfl:

I love when I get a hot towel! Either during a long flight or dinner, I always appreciate it. Gets your hands nice and clean, haha. I always find it super refreshing. But I agree, if they cool off then they're kind of pointless.

I just don't understand it! Like I really want to know what it's supposed to be for! Do tell! I'm just too un-fancy for that I guess!

AHHH THE STEAK! I bet that is so tasty. The chicken looks super good, too! And it's all neverending?!

The steak and chicken were my favorites because I'm not a seafood person, but if you are, you'd probably love the shrimp too! And YES. They just keep asking you if you want more!!! It's insane... ly awesome.

I heard the Hawaiian lady could be kind of annoying, was she bad at all? I'd never be able to get Matt to go up and dance, haha.

Yeah, I heard that before I went there and I'll be honest, she was a little much. However, we basically tuned her out, and she's the one that gave me the lei sooo... I forgave her. I've heard that sometimes it's a guy too, and he ISN'T annoying, so yeah!

OH EM GEE. THE BREAD PUDDING! It's way different than the one at Raglan Road, which is my favorirte dessert in all of Disney, but that is seriously right up my alley! OMG it looks amazing.

It was the first bread pudding I actually enjoyed! It was SO GOOD. That bananas foster sauce was a really good addition, and the ice cream on top was delicious in itself! Basically it's a winning dessert.

Soooo maybe we will end up at Ohana afterall! Well, if there are any reservations. Your meal looks absolutely fantastic!

If not this trip, maybe the next one! DO IT DO IT DO IT.
