As I listen to the Podcast of DIS I miss DL SO BADLY!

DBF and I were recently discussing our next trip (because the last one was SO long ago:lmao: )

I know that DBF and I missed some things when we were in DL however, should we cut our losses and do WDW for the first time and wait till 2012 to go back to my happy place? Will I like WDW?

For the people who have done both, should I wait to come back???

I LOVE WDW! I would go there any day over DLR but it's soooo freaking far to fly and therefore much more spendy! WDW is amazing, it is like living disney 24/7...stay on property and you never leave that magic. So much to see and do. Wait for DCA to be finished and in the mean time go to WDW. Then returning to DLR will be a nice change. If money is an issue than DLR is still a good place to go :)

That's a tough one. Being one of your DL correspondents, but one that missed getting a chance to tell the listeners more about herself, I have a really unique perspective on this. I started out as a WDW girl. 5 trips a year. Now, we go to DL more. Part of it is travel, since we are DL local, but part of it is pure pleasure.

You need to ask yourself what you want to get out of your vacation. Do you want a small "quickie" immersion or a total head-first dive? The two locations are different vacations entirely!

Also, I really don't agree with everyone's comments about wait until 2010 or 2012. Frankly, 2010 sees the opening of Harry Potter land in Universal FL. I would rather save WDW for that year to include a stopover there. You have to remember that right now - there are really only 2 attractions down in DCA - The Wheel of Death and Golden Dreams. They haven't even taken the Stinger or any of the other Paradise Pier attractions down yet. Just because there's an empty lake that never had any attraction in it, doesn't mean the park isn't functioning.

It's up to you what you choose - the DIS will be here to help you plan it all, but don't base not going to DL on what you are hearing now.... The guys failed to mention in the podcast that the reason the parades are down is due to refurb of the trolley tracks on Main Street. That's why the fireworks aren't happening all the time, too. If they have a chunk of Main Street down for rehab, then where do people cluster for fireworks. Fantasmic - which is normally closed right now, is open every night. Then, it gets it's rehab when the street is done at the end of the month. Simple normal rehab. Parade will be back, then, too.

Decisions, decisions......

I will say that WDW requires a whole lot more planning, like a million times more!!! That was very hard on me. You also need a lot more time at WDW to get as much out of it so if you have a week or even two its great, if you only have 3-5 days do DLR.

Over all it depends on what you want out of your trip, if you really want to try something new do WDW if you really want to go back to DLR then do it and don't let a few refurbs stop you! Either way enjoy the Disney magic and have a blast!

I didn't know that! I LOVE HP!

Truthfully, I loved DL so very much. When I was there Main Street was alerady getting refurbed! I didn't mind it! And truthfully, I didn't mind that the Sunwheel was down however, I don't think that we'll be able to get back until late in the year or early next year...

You suggested the first week in December on the podcast correct?

I'd reverse your plan. Go to DL now and WDW in 2012. PP mentioned the planning involved and the up and coming HP park and waiting till 2012 would allow you time to plan and the HP park will have one year under its belt.
Get your DL fix!!! That's just my humble suggestion.

Yeah, that's what I'm leaning towards.... Truthfully I don't have to make a decision right away! But just knowing that I am going back will make me feel sooo much better... I've caught the bug, and I've caught it bad!

Am I the only person on the DL board that doesn't think WDW takes more planning than DLR?? I think people make it out to seem much more intimidating than it is. JMO. :)

I think there is a definite case of DSE-itis in the air!

I dont know about the planning for WDW since I have never been there. I can say that it seems and looks like it would be very overwhelming for me to tackle, but I am sure if I were in the position to be able to go to WDW just once in my life, it would be a task I would happily take on!! But you have to understand - I get overwhelmed just trying to figure out my PS's for DLR, and that is on a much smaller scale!!!:lmao: :lmao: I agonize and plan and stress and try to schedule everything 'just so' to make sure everybody is happy, and I go back and forth over several DLR restaurants to pick the best ones at the best times, etc. And then my brain locks up and I have to leave the plans alone for a while and go back to them later!! I am terrible at making final decisions! Plus, I am not good at multi-tasking. I have to devote all my thought to one thing at a time if I am going to do anything successfully. So because of these issues, I think planning for WDW would be very daunting and stressful for me, personally, but maybe not so much for everyone else!! But again, if given the opportunity to go to WDW, I would certainly take on the challenge of planning and try to have as much fun in the process of planning (because it can be very fun too!) as I could.......while I was agonizing over my ADR's for meals and trying to choose from 100 restaurants and however many character meals!!!:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl:

That is a pretty great week and there is a chance you could see the Candlelight processional, too. It was the first weekend in December last year, so I would think the timing should be about the same this year. Make sure to watch the board (if you are coming that weekend) for the dates that tickets to the dinner packages with reserved seating go on sale.

Since I hate making ADR's and hate the buses at WDW yup its way tougher for me, but I think it depends on how you tour and how often you go to either coast. The first time can be a HUGE shocker if you don't plan. Unless you are lucky and walk right in on your dining and only go for a one day tour for WDW, then its easy :)
