Oh i could cry--free dinig pin to MY email, MY address, but my friends last name!

I have been having this probem too. We raveled with my DD & her husband a few years ago. I booked both rooms with AP rates; both reservations were linked. Started getting PINS for them after that- my email but thier last name & address. When I call, the CM tells me they are not listed on my email or account- just DH & I. One CM suggested I click the link in the PIN email to stop getting emails at this email address. She thought that might stop the ones in DDs name but that I would still get them in my name. I didn't do that yet coz I always have a trip booked & don't want to have trouble with those.

So DD is now divorced, gone back to our last name. DD has moved into her own apartment- ex has the house. Guess what shows up in my email Thursday? The free dining PIN-- DD's married name but her new apartment address. I have absolutely no idea how they got that. DD has never gone on the DW website, has no account with Disney, no Disney Visa, has not ordered the DVD or anything from Disney.

Meanwhile, DH & I both have accounts on the website, I have the Disney Visa, I play on the website & book vacations regularly. Of course, no PIN for me since 2010 or so. I'm thinking of calling or having her call & change her name back to our last name & our address. Maybe then I'll be able to use future PINs. What do you guys think? Will that work?

I am not sure exactly how to solve the problem, but I wanted to share what I was told. I got a pin in my email under my grandmother's name. I was not allowed to use the pin since it was in her name. I asked to have my grandmother's name removed from my email address because I don't want to keep getting pins that I won't be allowed to use. The CM had to look under my grandmother's name (even though she does not have an account with them). There the CM found my email listed as a secondary email for my grandmother. The CM said that I must have asked for my grandmother's reservation to be cc'd to me when we traveled together, so my email got listed as secondary for her. Why Disney is sending a pin code to a secondary email, I don't know. In my opinion, that just makes more problems like this happen and it upsets people. Anyway, the CM removed my email from my grandmother's name. I don't know if it will work, but that it what I was told.

Thanks! When I made DD's reservation, I didn't know thier email addresses. I just thought they'd need their home address. And because the reservations were linked, they probably do have my email under her name, too. I didn't think of that. I just think it's freaky that they have her new address, when she moved there well after her last trip, or since she's had any contact with Disney for that matter. Where would they have gotten that?

I'll have to call & give them the PIN. Maybe they can look under DD's profile & delete my email, if it's there. Of course, it's possible that neither 1 of us will get PINs then.

And I agree. Every time PIns go out, there are lots of posts about getting PINs sent that people are not able to use because the names & emails don't match up. Not great customer service.

I do think that it helped me tremendously that the code was linked to my home address, not just my email.

I just wanted to come back and update! We got to use the code!

I called and explained that I recieved an email with a pin code to our mailing address and my email, but another family's last name, friends that lived with us briefly while their house was being built. He said, "Okay, we aren't going to talk about that anymore, and I'm going to just manually input the code based on your household address and we will just keep going." :rotfl:

It went all the way through, I have my confirmation number and everything! I will still be nervous til I get my email, but I'm so excited!!!:yay:

And ... That is the Magic of Disney !! pixiedust: So happy for you. :jumping1:

We also were able to use a pin code that was in my dad's name but attached to our home address. This was for a trip we took in May of 2010 and we had called a few months prior to check and see if we had any pins. They found the free dining one and we were able to use it. The CM told us that because it was attached to our address, it was ours to use despite not having our name on it.

helped a co-worker plan a trip several years ago, including ordering park maps for her son using my Disney account. Started getting all e-mails from Disney Destinations in her name. Finally got one for her that I wanted to use so I sent an e-mail to Disney Destinations outlining the issue and asking that my e-mail address be returned to me. A couple of back and forths later, I was told the problem had been corrected and, for my trouble, she let me use the pin code I wanted. Said I'd still get a few in the wrong name but the issue was fixed. Fast forward to a year later and I still have the same problem. Again I e-mail (attaching copies of all the previous e-mails) and ask for help fixing the problem. This time I get Internet support and they scrub the name out of my account. I call CRO a few times looking for Free Dining pins in my own name (this time hadn't gotten 1 in the other name either) for Dec but no luck. A week later, I get a call from Guest Services offering to help me book my FREE DINING reservation - got POFQ Garden View!!! I said "but I don't have a pin!" she said "you have me"

Point of the story, if it came to your e-mail - call and ask to speak with Guest Services - they are miracle workers!!!

PS - Just got another offer in my inbox for the other person!! Hey, if it gets me free dining every year, they can keep not fixing it!!!

Wonder what it cost to legally change your last name? LOL....hey, I'm just sayin'!
