My fiance and I were so excited when we saw Cinderella invitations on Ebay for a minimum of 99 cents!! It was just 100 invites and envelopes so we figured we could get some generic response cards to put in that would look ok. The price obviously went up, but we ended up winning at a $35 bid and then it was going to be $12 shipping. Not bad for 100 Disney invites and envelopes.

Well, after the auction, my fiance got an email from the seller that he/she made a mistake and the minimum should have been somewhere in the upper $200 range. So now we don't get them. We emailed Ebay and they said this is legit and it's ok for the seller to do this.

We are trying so hard to be able to afford our most perfect day and it makes me sad that this happened :( Plus, I think the upper $200 range is pretty steep for just the invites and envelopes.

Just wanted to vent and to warn others that nothing is ever a good deal if it looks too good to be true. I thought I already knew that, but I guess I was blinded by trying to get my perfect day ;)

PS- If the seller is a DIS member, please don't take offense to this. I'm just really disappointed!!!

Aww I'm sorry-that's disapointing! Maybe you should try making your own invites-I've seen some brides make amazing invitations for less $. Good luck!!

Sorry to hear about that! :sad2: They should have honored the price they posted...

Finestationary.com has a lot of Disney Invitation Cardstock that's relatively inexpensive. Then you can print them yourself at home. Saves you lots of money that a regular invitation shops charge for the invites & printing.

That's where I found my invites, and they printed really easily, and look super cute! If you want to see how mine came out, just PM me, and I'll scan one into the computer.

Good Luck!

Are you sure there's nothing you can do? I would contact eBay again as they clearly state that:

When a seller lists an item on eBay, and a buyer bids for and wins that item, the seller and buyer have entered into a contract. Both members are expected to honor that contract. In accordance with that contract, the seller may not:

1. Fail to deliver an item for which payment was accepted.
2. Significantly misrepresent an item by not meeting the terms and item description outlined in the listing.
3. Refuse to accept payment for an item at the end of a successful sale.
4. Refuse to accept a buyer’s PayPal payment using a credit card if the seller included the PayPal logo in the listing which signifies the seller will accept PayPal payments. Sellers are not permitted to state in their listings that PayPal payments made via credit card will not be accepted.

Violations of this policy by a Seller may result in a range of actions, including:

* Listing cancellation
* Limits on account privileges
* Account suspension
* Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
* Loss of PowerSeller status
* Referral to Law Enforcement

If a seller has refused to complete a sale, and payment has not been sent or payment has been refunded, report the seller. Make sure to include a copy of the email documenting the seller's refusal to complete the sale with the full message text and complete email headers when making your report.

If a buyer has paid for an item and has been unable to receive the item or a refund, or believes the item was significantly misrepresented, they should refer to the eBay Item Not Received process. Buyers will also find instructions that will allow them to contact eBay to report the seller on this page.

After receiving a report, eBay will consider the circumstances of the alleged offense. If a complaint cannot be proven with certainty, it is possible that no action will be taken. Due to privacy issues, eBay will be unable to discuss the result of the investigation.

If a seller is no longer able to complete the transaction because the item is no longer available for trade, the seller may consider contacting the buyer, explain the situation, and attempt to reach an amicable resolution. While eBay encourages the buyer to be open to a reasonable resolution proposed by the seller, the buyer is not obligated to agree to any such proposal.

The page is here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/seller-non-performance.html

I would contact the seller as well and refer them to this page and state that you intend to take action against them if they are not willing to honor their contract.

I'm sorry that happened! I would be completely frustrated too! My fiance and I had a hard time finding candles that fit our candle holders, and had to practically fight for a response from someone on ebay who was the only one we could find that was selling candles that fit our holders. It was so frustrating....we eventually bought regular bees wax candles that we will have to "carve" a bit to get them to fit in the holders.

Mostly ebay is great...but there are some total "bleeps" that sell on there too. Sorry you had to deal with one, but I know you'll get the right invites...and they will probably be prettier than the ones you saw on ebay. :)

We read all that too and that's why we contacted them. They said that the seller posted (way at the bottom in teeny tiny print) about 2 hours before the auction ended or something that the price was changed. I think they should have to contact the highest bidder if they are making a change! However, we had already bid and had set it up to automatically rebid for us, and we weren't checking it constantly so I don't think changing it that close to closing should be allowed. Especially since it was Pacific Time and we are Eastern time so it was like 3:00am or something here when it was changed!

Thanks for making me smile :teeth:

Make sure you leave feedback about that transaction so this doesn't happen to other bidders.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this! Don't worry, I'm sure something will work out. It's just not right for people to misrepresent things when selling on eBay. :hug:

We are doing pink and green as our colors. Is it weddingy enough? I feel like the stationery seems too silly and fun and not elegant enough, however, we are NOT elegant people so it might fit ;) Is it all on cardstock and will it be thick like normal invitations?
Well, I think it's cute! If your not very formal people, of course it would be ok! It's your wedding and if you like it, that's what's important...besides, they say that the invitation should set the tone of the event, if it's not going to be ultra formal, then why have that kind of invitation. I think they're very cute! :goodvibes

Karen these are totally my kinda invitations too - I guess I'm not the elegant type either LOL - they're great :thumbsup2
Sorry about your ebay experience.

Those are the ones I used for my wedding shower! :cheer2: It is cardstock, but a little thinner than regular invites. I think I have an extra one if you want me to mail you one. They are super cute...

I think those invites are cute! And who says they have to be fancy?! Your invites should reflect your personality, and if those are what you like, then they are the right ones. :thumbsup2 Mine weren't fancy. They were home made, and looked crafty....and reflected exactly who me and my fiance are.

I realize you've probably moved on at this point or may just not want to deal with it anymore... But they can't do this according to eBay rules.

With less than 12 hours left on an auction they are only allowed to do the following:

If your item has already received a bid/purchase or ends within 12 hours, you can only:

* Add a second category.
* Add to the item description.
* Add pictures using eBay Picture Services.
* Add optional features to increase your item's visibility (for example, bold).
* Reduce the start price of your item. (You will not receive credit for the difference in your insertion fees.)

They CAN NOT increase the price by inserting a comment at the bottom. They could have ended the listing early to correct the mistake. Again according eBay:

If you cannot complete your listing as planned, you can end your listing before the scheduled date. If there are bids on your item, you can cancel them.

Reasons for ending listings early include:

* The item is no longer available for sale.
* There was an error in the starting price or reserve amount.
* There was an error in the listing.
* The item was lost or broken.

Timing Matters

When there are 12 hours or less remaining and the item has a winning bid, including a reserve met bid, sellers cannot make any changes to the listing, including:

* Ending the item early. Sellers may cancel bids, but not end the item unless the item is being sold to the high bidder.
* Adding to or changing the item description.
* Converting the item to pre-approved bidders.

Also, it states clearly that:

Note: Sellers are not permitted to cancel bids and end listings early in order to avoid selling an item that did not meet the desired sale price. This is considered to be reserve fee circumvention. Although there are legitimate reasons for ending a listing early, abuse of this option will be investigated.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/end_early.html

Anyhoo, I'm sorry for butting in. It just irritates me to no end that a seller would do that - particularly to a Disney bride!! Regardless of what happens or what you choose to do, I'm sorry this happened to you. It just sucks!

Thank you! We quoted all of that when we sent a second letter to Ebay, they have yet to respond :rolleyes: I have not moved on...this still really irks me!!!!!!!! Is there any other recourse I can take besides leaving negative feedback???

Well, you can open a dispute as well as report the seller here:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/using-dispute-console.html

You could also try contacting the seller once more and quoting them eBay's policies adding that if they are not willing to comply that you are going to seek every avenue availble to you. Once the auction closes it is a legally binding contract and their actions (adding a tiny line about chaning the price to the auction) is NOT allowed nor does it affect the contract in anyway. Whether you choose to follow through or not, it may be enough to shake them out of their arrogance and actually complete the transaction. I've run into a few problems on eBay but I've never had to do anything beyond quote eBay's policies and make a few threats.

What ever happens, good luck. And I hope one mean nasty seller doesn't cause you too much stress when this should be a wonderfully happy time for you!

You are so sweet! Thank you! I actually just emailed the seller again and quoted the stuff you posted and then wrote 'so let us know where we can send the $36 money order.' :rotfl: Think that'll work??? ;)

Yay! :thumbsup2 I hope it works! Be sure to post when you get their reply because now I'm curious!
