Hello all! I've decided since this is a special trip for us I want to document it as best I can. What better way then a trip report?!

The characters:
In this PTR/TR you'll find Sam and Aaryn, siblings separated by 8 years but we've always been best friends. Last year I (Sam) went solo to the World and really wanted nothing more than my brother there with me.

That’s me Sam, on the left! (can currently be seen sporting bright blue hair)

When I'm not planning trips to the world I manage 1 of 5 cupcake storefronts in Indianapolis. I love my husband, television, cheese, dogs, and traveling. My favourite Disney Character is Stitch, My favourite ride at WDW is Expedition Everest, and my favourite Disney snack is the butterfinger cupcake from Starring Rolls.

The other character in this trip report is Aaryn, on the right. (can currently be seen with shorter darker hair and an unfortunate goatee)

When he isn't planning trips to Disney with his sister he's attending high school and involved in all things music. He loves playing any musical instrument he can get his hands on, chinese food, and rain. His favourite Disney character is Ariel, his favourite ride is Haunted Mansion, and his favourite Disney snack is cheese sauce from Cosmic Rays!

The time:
We'll be there September 7-14th! An entire week of fun!

The place:
We'll be staying at Pop Century. We were originally booked at Port Orleans Riverside but switched to save a bit of money. We love Pop though and have stayed there several times.

The reason:
2013 was a tough year for us and 2014 hasn't exactly been kind either. This trip is a much needed vacation for us both. Our last trip together was in 2009 and it actually turned our horribly so this is also making up for that.

The plans:
I'm trying to make this trip as special as I can so I made an ADR at Tokyo Dining for us (Aaryn loves Asian food) and we're going to a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party! I had hoped to book a tour but that fell to the wayside as I'm financing 95% of the trip on my own.

We've got 55 days to go! 27 until I can attempt a BOG lunch reservation. I've started compiling a list of things we'll need for traveling. It's getting so close!

I'll be making the last payment on our package on Friday! With that out of the way the only other necessity will be a flight back home. Womp Womp!

We decided on our MNSSHP costumes. Originally we were going with Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World but we saw some Mike and Sully hats at Party City and had to change our costume! We decided to pick up some plain blue and green shirts from Michael's and keep it simple. Here is the design I made for our shirts.

Hi! I thought I'd hop on over! It will be fun to catch up on your planning when I get home from my trip! :rotfl:

I love those caps!

:wave2: Welcome! I've never done a TR before so this is new to me! Hopefully I can be as entertaining as yours!

Aren't they cute?! I think they're actually for kids (they're a little small) but we couldn't resist!

As of today it's all paid for! We just need return flights which we will hopefully get in two weeks!

:cheer2::banana:party::dancer:

Other things that aren't necessities:
-Memory Maker. I'm only taking my iphone 5s, not my camera and I had intended to get memory maker a long time ago so we easily had pictures together, but I decided against it. Then I remember individual pictures are like $15 so one from each park, plus a few more would easily be more than pre-purchasing it! Plus you get ride photos which are always fun. So long story long, I think we'll still get it but not until possibly late August.

-A fragrance for our room so everytime we smell it we remember our trip together. This idea came from Tom and Sarah at Disney Tourist Blog and we thought it was brilliant. It may be a little hard for us because we constantly use candles of all different smells! (though we'll be getting a wall plug-in scent thing) I think we may go see what we can find this weekend.

-Shoes! I semi-need another pair of sneakers. The pair I wear now aren't falling apart or anything, they're just a few years old. I haven't decided if I'll actually buy new ones or not.

and that's basically it! We actually don't need a lot of travel items which was a nice surprise!

This post went from exciting to boring! :rotfl:

Woo hoo! Paid in full is such a nice thing! Congrats! I got memory maker too, but I'll be bringing my camera on my trip. I think I would be completely lost without in, and really, it's been literally a nightmare of mine in the past that I forgot my camera.

Congrats on a $0 balance!

One thing my Mom and I do for trips is go to Bath and Body Works and get antibacterial hand gels and soaps in our favorite scent and then take it to WDW with us. I definitely have Disney scents that I can use that take me right back to Disney in my mind - Aqua Blossom and Dancing Waters! :) I'm currently using the Dancing Waters hand soap as our trip is approaching in less than 90 days. I have an extra one to take to WDW with us. Then we'll use it for about a month after the trip too.

This being a fall trip, we'll probably bring something pumpkin scented as well!

Welcome everyone! Thanks for joining in! I think I've subbed to everyone else so far! Should I update the title every time I make a new post? These TR's are new to me. Does everyone do a separate TR and just link to their PTR?

Tonight was successful! We got the scent Pink Sand from Yankee candle as our room scent and I am so excited! I also got some glow stick bracelets for the halloween party. (Target and Michaels have them for $1!) and hair dye. I know I mentioned I have blue hair but I don't think I mentioned my brother wants to dye his hair green before we go! He goes to a liberal arts high school so they don't mind at all. :)

I had to get another shirt for our costumes as well, I messed the other one up! Transfer paper can be confusing!

That's actually really smart! I glanced at this thread on my phone before I went out so I added this to the list. You touch so many things that others have touched. I bought the scent "cool melon lime" from Target (it's Purell). I didn't even think of getting something pumpkin scented, that sounds awesome. I haven't been in to BBW in a long time! What does dancing waters smell like?

I took my camera last year (I have an Olympus Pen Mini epm1) but I didn't use it as much as I thought I would and my phone actually takes pretty decent pictures. The Olloclip is a lens system that has a fisheye, a wide angle and a few macros. I also downloaded some cool photo apps like a slow shutter one so I can get fancy! You take much better pictures than I do though, I'd be sad if you didn't take it! :thumbsup2

You can update the title if you want, or not. I think it depends on the person. I update my TR title every time I post, but not my PTR. I always do a separate TR and link to my PTR if I have one!

Dancing Waters is very fresh smelling. It is very similar to Aqua Blossom. It smells like fresh ocean water with a flower thrown in. :goodvibes I smile every time I smell my hands after washing them.

I agree with the PP it is up to you if you want to update the title on your or not. I do just to let people know when I updated last.

Pink sands is one of my sister's favorite scents (not the one going with me) and it does smell really good. I like this idea but know we would run out of scents. However I will suggest this to the sister who is going with me and see if she would like to do this. :goodvibes

Thanks for the tips! I may update it since I have people following along now. I also think I'll just start a new thread for the TR and just link this! I tend to ramble so this one could get long. :scared1: :rolleyes1

We ALMOST picked Sun and Sand (I think that's what it was). It smelled like suntan lotion! I think Pink Sands was unique enough we won't be able to find anything like it elsewhere. Plus we never shop at Yankee so it'll probably stay special for us. (In fact I don't think I've been in that store but once when the mall opened 8ish years ago)

They also had a bacon scented candle AND a grass one! Wild! Would you ever buy those scents? (I admit I liked the grass one hah)

Hopefully my next update will be our daily plans, I'm not a commando but I like to write everything down for peace of mind!:upsidedow

All that is up to you! You're in control of your TR and your PTR!

Oh fun! I don't have an iphone, and my phone takes okay pictures in bright light, but I'd be lost without it too. But don't worry, It's all packed up and ready to go as my "personal item" for the plane!!!

Some of you may have seen in Missy's TR's she has special bows for her Minnie Ears. These lovely bows come from Magical Ribbons and I bought some last year. I think they're a fantastic subtle way to theme your outfit a little. I have a MK park map, a Philharmagic, a Paperman, a SSE, Tardis, and Rafiki.

With this update I bring you some of our daily plans. I am an over planner but when it comes down to it I usually end up throwing my plans out the window. I just like to know all of the options I guess. I tend to ramble so I'll make this as readable as possible and probably in a few different posts!

All of our days are based around EASYWDW's crowd calendar. We have a QS dining plan, I'm hoping we'll use it for breakfast and then "Linner (late lunch/early dinner). We can use our snacks for other times we're hungry or even for hoarding treats for home. I KNOW even the QS is going to be too much food for us though.

Last September when I went alone I had a park hopper so I didn't feel compelled to go at RD, but I didn't end up using my hopper more than twice and that was really just because I knew I had paid for it so I wanted to use it. I like the hopper option but Aaryn only paid for most of his food and his flights so my budget was tight.(although I just got a raise woo!) I decided against the extra cost this year. Therefor our plans include getting to the parks a little earlier to maximize our day.

  • September 7th:
We have a 12:45pm flight. We live very close to the Indianapolis airport so we won't have to leave terribly early. We both usually get up around 9 anyway so I think as long as we're fully packed the day before we can sleep in as long as possible! We're supposed to arrive around 3:00 I believe, it's a direct flight.

I'm counting on it not taking too long to get on a ME bus and then to the resort since it'll be mid-day but you never know with them! I think we'll probably grab something to eat once we get settled into our room and the head to Magic Kingdom. Although knowing us we'll be too excited to eat just then and want to get going asap!

Magic Kingdom was supposed to have EMH until midnight but that was canceled, but the park will be open until 10:00pm so that's not awful. I actually think it might be better because we'll get a little more sleep as I'm planning on some earlier park days this week.

I made FP+ reservations for us for the evening. When I went in to make FP+ selections I wanted to make sure we got Toy Story, 7dmt, and Soarin for sure. Everything else was just extra!

  • Philharmagic 6:30-7;30. I know it's not really needed but it'll be in refurb the rest of our trip so I want to make sure we see it.
  • Peter Pan 7:30-8:30
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train 8:50-9:50!

I'm guessing we'll stay mostly in NFLE this night but I KNOW we have to make a stop at POTC for sure. That's usually our classic first ride. (can't you smell it now?!)

  • September 8th:
This is an EPCOT day! I'm aiming to get there as close to opening as possible. This is also the day I made a reservation at Tokyo Dining for 6:30. We ate there on our disaster 2009 trip and it was one of the few good memories. The park is open until 9:00 and we plan on staying for every minute! We may do Illuminations this night since we'll already be in the WS for dinner.

Fastpass+ are:
  • Soarin 10:35-11:35
  • Captain EO 11:50-12:50
  • Maelstrom 10:35 - 11:35

I'm really not concerned with missing the last 2 fast passes. We have very little interest in Captain EO. I may play around with times for all of our FP+'s sometime soon. I may use the Maelstrom one to force us to go to WS, especially since we'll be having dinner there. I always struggle with just staying in Futureworld but then I always regret not taking more time in WS!

  • September 9th:
This is MNSSHP day! The only reason we'll go to a park this day is if we can't get a later flight on departure day. We have 7 day tickets so should we need to go to a park to use a ticket we'll go to AK. You can start getting into MK for the party at 4 I believe. I think we may go to DTD and do some shopping. Neither one of us are big on DTD and I know it's going to be kind of crappy due to all the construction.

I almost want to add a 1 day ticket to our reservation so we can do AK since we'll only have 1 day there and I LOVE AK! but that's money we don't really have and I don't want to be going going going all week. (plus i don't know when we'd get to DTD)

FP+:
  • Peter Pan 5:05-6:05.
You can't make FP+'s for the evening since it "closes" at 7:00 but I at least wanted to make sure we could do Peter Pan.

I'm not really sure what our plan of attack for the party is. Last year I went alone, didn't do any characters but did trick-or-treat. I'm actually not a big character person so I just took advantage of the Magic Shots and the short lines. Of course Hallowishes is kind of worth the price alone. I had a really good time so I don't feel like it was money wasted. I think I want to do a few characters but I am awkward in those situations. My brother would love to "meet" Jack and Sally but I don't want to wait in line for 2 hours for that. I don't think he would either.

This is where I'll leave off for now! I may do another update here in a bit but I should get back to work. :)

Hi Sam!! I'm Ann and I followed your link from the September planners! I think it's awesome that you and your brother are going together! I love your Monsters hats and the t-shirts are cute! Your days look awesome so far! Can't wait for another update!!:dance3:
