Oh. Dear Lord, Boma's

We also just ate at Boma for the first time last week after many visits to WDW. We had the breakfast, which was excellent. The Frunch is out of this world......I asked Albert, our waiter, for the recipe. He took my email address and the next day I had an email from AKL Culinary Dept. with the recipe for Frunch! Now my only problem is how to find mango juice concentrate and pineapple juice concentrate in NE Pennsylvania in the middle of winter!!!!!
Another Frunch fan here! I love Boma for breakfast and for dinner. We have also had Albert as our server a couple of times at breakfast. He is a great CM!

ETA: The recipe I've seen on the web calls for mango juice, not concentrate. As for the pineapple juice concentrate, if it mixes up as 1 can concentrate plus 3 cans of water, maybe you could just use 32 oz of pineapple juice instead of the concentrate? I haven't tried to make Frunch myself. If you do, I'd like to hear how it turns out. Thanks!

Making a ADR for this resteraunt for Feb 5th, my birthday! :cool1:

I currently have an ADR for breakfast. We really are looking forward to eating at Boma and exploring AKL. Do you think I should try to change my ADR to a dinner time instead?

We love Boma too. Especially me and my Mom and Dad. DH tolerates it for us. I really love the soups! They are perfect :sunny: And it is fun to go out to the viewing area and see the animals.

I love Boma's dinner. I've never eaten there for breakfast (yet), but I've heard so much about their Frunch that I had to try it! So, we've got ADR's for breakfast one day in March and dinner on another day! We're staying at CSR, so it's an easy trip over for breakast. :sunny:

Just FYI, it isn't Boma's, it's Boma :)

A word to those interested in breakfast. If you are big coffee drinkers, get a pressed pot of Kenyan coffee. Just a note though: it's best if you like your coffee strong. My hubby didn't care for it, but I guzzled it. I would make a trip there just for that coffee.

I feel so sorry for people who won't try something because it "sounds gross" or looks different. Boma is wonderful and I can't wait to go back on Jan. 30 for dinner and Feb. 4 for breakfast. Actually I just can't wait to get back to Disney.

Perfectly said. I couldn't agree more. I only wish I could agree that I was going back next month, too!

I'll bet it really bugs you when people write about their experiences at that Irish pub at the Poly called O'Hana's!!!

We eat dinner at Boma's last week for the first time. Wow it was great, think it's the best buffet in the WDW. :Pinkbounc

I will be staying at AKL Feb 10 - Feb 12th :goodvibes

I have booked breakfast for our first morning and dinner at the end of our stay :cheer2:

I am sooo glad to hear that many people like the restaurant. It makes me feel lucky to have the ADR's ::yes::

Thanks to all who posted their positive reviews on this thread :flower:

Honestly...both meals are GREAT! But, if I had to do one or the other, I would choose dinner. Dinner has more unique offerings.

Iluvwesties-You are gonna LOVE Boma!

We love Boma for dinner. The first time I ate there it was transporting... I was in a first trimester pregnancy and it was a budget trip so we ate a lot of counter service.. and even the table service I had was disappointing. Of course I was pg so no food could satisfy me. Then on the last night, before the car came at 8pm to take us away from WDW, we ate at Boma... and I think I ate enough to make up for the previous four days. I ate absolutely everything.

Next trip we're trying it for breakfast (we'll have a car.) We adore Boma but always dine there also as an excuse to visit AKL, which we love but somehow haven't managed to stay at yet.

I will never stay at WDW again without eating at Boma at least once. Maybe twice. It's THAT good. Love it. Seriously. I'd eat there on my birthday. On anyone's birthday! LOL :)

Boma is a must-do for us as well. It's delicious and you can't beat the surroundings.

May I suggest you try a market that caters to the hispanic population. I don't know how big (or small) your town is, but we live in Wichita, Kansas and there are several hispanic markets. Even some of our local Kroger grocery stores stock these items in their specialty sections. Hopefully you can locate some - the recipe sounds like a challenge but we also LOVE Boma's - can't wait to go back!!!

Just a little bit of trivia, here, FWIW. DH and I are joining a group of friends for a trip to S. Africa in April. The safari camp where we are staying has an outdoor eating area, surrounded by a stockade fence. They call this area a boma. I noticed drawings/ paintings of a stockade fence on the walls of Boma when we ate there last week.

And I could easily become vegetarian on the Afrikaan food!

That's cool. The quick service restaurant at AKL is the Mara - I forget what that means in African, but its something similar.
