Oh dear, a new worry.

This was a bit of a shock last night when I went to renew my passport, which runs out in September. Regretting not doing it last month as I originally planned.

I did and I'm sending off the old passport first thing tomorrow.

My passport runs out in September also, not planning on travelling until next year but will renew next month online anyway. Just want it out of the way & one less worry.

So cross, just found out that they stopped general renewal of passports on March 24th with little or no notice and certainly no readily available information, even travel experts have been saying that. Had I known that I would have tried to renew it a lot sooner, just in case. Looking like September is well off the cards now, oh well, I was of the opinion of it only having a 5% chance of going ahead. There's going to be a massive backlog when they start up again.
I'm not disappointed as such as I do have contingency plans for next year. All the same I did the application online last night with the digital photo and I have no doubt they will take immediate payment and I'm sending off my old passport off 9am tomorrow morning. You never know.

I applied on 24 March and a new passport was returned on 30 March. Very quick turnaround.

I think the passport office is in Swansea so not too far from you, just not sure if you can do on the day anymore

I don't know if that would be classed as essential travel. I've sent the old passport off and did an online application, so now it's just sit and wait.
