Oh come on - now the disney dining number is disconnected?

I have gone to WDW every year since 2001 and used an 800 # to make my reservations for my trip. It has taken 7 years for WDW to shut down the 800 line. It has become a convenience to me. And I think that is all of any of us maybe are saying really in a round about way. Yes we have been spoiled all these years by not having to pay long distance charges. It will now have to be an adjustment that we all have to accept whether we like it or not.

I for one cant understand why people complain about calling the 407 number. MOST people these days have a little device called a CELL PHONE ;) . How hard is it to use it to call disney dining? Then you wont have to worry about long distance phone calls on your house phone. Dont wanna waste minutes? Call during your free nights and weekends. They are open 7 days a week 7am - 11pm, EST. Surly you can find time after work to call during nights. Being that DH and I only have cell phones and no house phone, I always call Disney dining from my cell phone and while I might waste 20 minutes a week of my shared 500 minutes a month, we still have A LOT of minutes left over. Infact we have over 1000 roll over minutes just sitting there collecting dust. We are with AT&T.

But anyways..people need to stop calling the toll free number. IF Disney wanted you to call the toll free number they would have placed that number in their brouchers and on their website. Instead you find the 407 number. Imagine what the TA have to go through. They probably get weekly calls/emails from Disney giving them a new phone number to call for dining.

Just be glad you can call at all. Disney dining could very easily disconnect the whole ADR line just as easily for them to set it up and people just have to grin and bear it and make their ADRs when they get to Disney. You know what they say. Dont take things for granted. One day it might be there and the next it might be gone. And you never knew what you had until you loose it.

Put yourself in Disney's shoes. Say you owned a theme park. And you had 2 numbers. One for the public and 1 for TA. And all of a sudden the 1-800 # for the TA started going around and all of a sudden a bunch of people starting calling that number instead of the public number. And you started having to pay out a hefty phone bill for the 1-800 number. How would you feel?

I'm not at all upset about the toll free numbers being disconnected. I'm irritated that so many people jumped on the OP and starting blaming Disney's price increases on a small amount of people who used an "unpublished" number. Didn't Disney profits for the 2007 fiscal year end up being around 2.7 billion dollars? Yet in January 2008 they still made their normal price increases (fine I understand the concept of inflation) along with astronomical price increases on the strollers, hard ticket events, and the dining plan (hidden by the no tip and no app included anymore line). Disney raises their prices because we will continue to pay whatever price they set. Not because a small about of internet users took advantage of a toll free number. Okay, I'm getting off the soapbox now. Why I let non-issue things like this suck me in . . . I guess I'll never learn! lol!!!

I am asking nicely.......why do we have to debate everything....

Now I could probably go in here and give out points or warnings, but I think the best thing is just close the thread and move on....

C'mon, let's answer nicely and stop the constant debating.l
