This is getting ridiculous - now I can't get the 1-800-711-4344 number to work - there goes my daily call to find out if LTT has any openings on 9/7 for dinner.

I thought all those 800 numbers were disconnected a few months ago...

Why can't you just call the Disney Dining number meant for the general public?

There is no toll free number for the general public.

The reason that the numbers keep on changing is that they get leaked here, and Disney changes the numbers because they get too many calls.

I would LOVE if they had one for everyone, but at this time they don't.

Why should you asume people should call and pay to sit on hold? While some of us can afford that, others cannot.

Furthermore, if he/she is calling from work, they may not be allowed to dial long-distance.

Amazing how quick you people are to snap at others to defend a vacation spot.

I would guess that Disney decided that due to the abuse of some people who call every day, sometimes more than once, they feel they cannot afford the phone bills.

This is why I use a TA. I always seem to get the dates and times I want with only making one call to her!

I agree. Why on earth would anyone care if the OP wanted to save a little money by calling a toll free number? There are some people on here who get into a total snit because other DISers are using Disney toll free numbers. It's no skin off their back - I just don't get it. Who really cares?

Because anything that effects Disney's bottom line eventually effects OUR bottomline... and I dont want to pay more so that other people can save. Sorry.

I'm wondering who can afford sit down Disney restaurants, but can't afford a evening/weekend rate long distance call. I'm thinking that anyone in the situation not to be able to afford the phone call might want to rethink Disney. Even if you are going for "free dining" you need to plan on spending a LOT MORE than a long distance call on tips.

Disney does NOT PUBLICALLY provide an 800 number to Dining. The 800 numbers into Dining have all been special use numbers that have been leaked to the public. So they don't often last long.

Disney restaurants are full even if they require a long distance call, there is no business incentive for them to provide and pay for a public 800 number.

You don't sit on hold (generally) late in the afternoon.

There are plenty of times during the day one can call and NOT have to be on hold. Sure if you choose to call at the busiest times of day you're going to have to wait.
As far as calling from work- wait to call until you're not at work. Simple solution.
And FTR what vacation spot are you speaking of :rotfl: That makes no sense. I call the 407 # that's meant for the public to make thier ADR's. I don't need to try to cheat the system to get what I want :worship: Like someone else said, if one doesn't want to pay for a phone call, then hire a TA to make your adr's for you. I'm sure you'll save a ton of money on that 3 min phone call ;)

And then you have those who get in a total 'snit' because they can't use the toll free numbers that aren't even meant for them to use.

The small amount of people who are actually in the know about the very few toll free disney numbers that are left out there, could not possibly affect anyones "bottom line" to the point that some people are taking it to here on the DIS. Now, $31.00 for a one day rental on a double stroller, no more tips included in the dining plan, almost $60.00 per adult to attend a hard ticket event. Those things are actual issues that effect the average WDW travelers bottom line. The miniscule amount that it cost Disney to pay for the couple of current non-published toll free numbers is almost a non-issue. Certainly not one that dictates numerous people making nasty snide comments to the OP about. It was just rude and unkind for posters to jump on her and any of the others that have posted on this subject as if she was personally making their next trip to WDW unaffordable.

Totally agree. It is no one's business which phone number anyone uses or why. If you (collectively) aren't contributing to their finances, MYOB.

As for the bottom line, how about you start by not using any of Disney's water (no showers, no towels, no soaps), heck, don't even turn on the lights or the a/c because G-D forbid they have to pay a bill...and just think, you'll be doing something "green" for the planet, now that whopping $1 savings can be passed on to you for your next vacation.

Give me a break. People with gripe about anything.

There is no 1-800 dining number available to the general public. If you had a number that worked for awhile, just be glad you got those calls for free for whatever period it worked.

In all seriousness, this is why I now use a travel agent. The long hold times and the phone charges are a thing of the past.
I call Kelly's 800 number, she calls Disney and then calls me back.

I don't waste hours of my day, and no phone charges.

I even moved my reservation to her after I booked with Disney. She sent me a form, I signed it, and now she has control of my reservation. And makes all calls for me. And it doesn't cost me a dime. I wish I had known about her last trip :)

If anyone wants her contact info let me know, Magical Travel rocks!
(She even called me last week to tell me she checked on the new room code for August, I didn't know she would be calling to save me more $$...she ROCKS!!!)

While I don't really care either way which number people use, I don't think the OP should get upset about not being able to use a number that isn't meant for them to use in the first place.
