Yippee! Snagged one from OMC on their BF weekend special! Should be here in a few weeks. I'll hang on to my E for as long as it holds out (Santa is bringing me lots of new carts!), but now will also have all the capabilities this new Silhouette Cameo offers. I've been reading lots about it on Two Peas, and can't wait to give it a try. ProvoCraft just really ticked me off when they sued SCAL, etc. and I started scoping out what other options were out there for die-cut machines. The Cameo seems great - hope it lives up to the hype! (Even DH seemed impressed with it as I showed him my research.) I got the Cameo and a $25 download card for $236 - no tax and free shipping.

We'll be sure to report back on the Cameo. The eCraft was tempting, too...no mats! But, we decided to go this way. There seem to be lots of images available through the Silhouette store - regular cuts and print and cut ones, too. (I can use my own color printer to do any color images/designs and then run them through the Cameo to make a cut around them. Z2H saw a fun Dumbledore figure we thought we might try as our first test of that!) I'm sure we'll keep the E around for a long time to come, but it will be nice to try this system. I *really* love that welding is built in! That is how I do 99.9 of my titles/headlines, so I'm especially looking forward to that.

please let me know if my files work for you with it - been wondering how the different machines work

I'd be happy to - your stuff is totally beyond amazing! :worship: It should - the Cameo is SCAL-compatible. You should really think of becoming one of the artists whose stuff is available there. They don't have Disney cuts there (now/yet) - probably licensing issues involved. But, you are so talented, I'm sure you could create other great original things people would pay for. Most images are listed for .99, but most folks do subscriptions that make them lots cheaper. Not sure how payments to the artists work, but might be interesting for crafty people like you to look into... Just a thought!

licensing issues - no one is going to mess with Disney, which is why I don't sell. if I could sell we would be in WDW staying at all the fancy hotels with Deluxe dinning (still eating quick service;) )

actually I make what i want to make & I'm happy, which is alot better than trying to be rich & famous

A friend of mine went from the cricut to a sillouette to a cameo. She said the cameo is a tad bit quieter and she just loves all she can do with it.

Enjoy your new toy!

But, you're already famous around here! :lovestruc And, we're ALL happy (and scrappy!) I'll be sure to let you know what works once we get up and running with the Cameo (can't wait to try your Sorcerer Mickey!). Not sure when I'll actually get the bugger - OMC says I'm "mid-December" and then the holidays will be upon us. But, I'm sure I'll grab time to play with it at some point!

Pam, does the Cameo work with SVGs?

YEP! Apparently, there are several different ways to do it. I'll know better once we get going, but the choices seem to be:

-SCAL(3) - might be able to get a free upgrade from 2, and it seems you can run both versions so you can run both an E and the Cameo;
-convert using Inkscape;
-Silhouette's "Designer" software ($50) that lets you easily use SVGs, make rhinestone patterns, etc.

We love SCAL - but we'll see what method is easiest/best for us. You, my dear, are such a wizard at this stuff - you'd figure it out in a snap! We might take a bit longer...!

Oh please, you and Z2H are far more computer literate than I am! I really like the idea of NO mats on the eCraft. I'll have to do a little more research though. Can you buy images from Silhouette that are compatible on other machines?

I want a Cameo so bad! The cuts that are available from the Silhouette store are just beautiful and so flexible. Then I can also use the Kerry Bradford designs, which I adore!! and it works with SVG files and there's lots of freebies of those floating around!

Reddy, I would love to try some of your designs once I finally get a Cameo...I so admire your work.

Please post a review, Pam, I'm very interested in your feedback!
