I just got a call from my landlord. Apparently I put our garbage on the curb on the wrong day and she got fined for it. There is a space under the staircase that we are supposed to put our garbage that has a huge iron gate and big lock. I'd left my key in my dad's car by mistake. The garbage had dirty diapers in it so I thought if I put it at the curb, it would be okay. Guess not. I had no idea!
So, now rather than reembursing us $150 for the electrician we had to have come out this week, she's telling me to only take $100 off the rent check for the electrician.
My husband is going to flip out. He's going to loose his mind over this one...

Over $50? :confused3 If that's true, he might want to consider some anger management therapy.

I always say, "You've got to do something wrong at least once, to do it right each time after that". I bet you'll never put the garbage out on the wrong day again! :sunny:

I hate when little mistakes cost money like that! I start thinking, "I could've used that money for [dinner out, babysitting, whatever]." Sorry that happened to you.
I hope your DH will understand that it was just a mistake, only 50 bucks spent and a lesson learned, and not something to get upset about.

If he wants to get upset..........tell him that if he had taken the garbage out, this would not have happened.........

I like this response!!

Well its not as bad as getting two tickets for not wearing a seat belt within one year!

You have a right to see the fine, I would make sure it is $50. Doesn't seem like a fine for having 1 bag of garbage out would be $50.

In NYC it very easily could be at least $50. The City has pretty strict rules about garbage....pests of all sorts like to live in it and if it is on the street too early it causes all sorts of problems.

I'd most likely phone and ask the city how much the fine actually is. Curiousity more than anything else. :teeth:

$50 seems like something rather trivial to "lose his mind" over, don't you think?

I'm sure you won't put the trash out on the wrong day again!
