Oh Boy! Looks like a 2006 MYW discount is in the works

Hopefully 2 weeks from now we can all say that we saved a lot of $$$ Only 13 more days...come on Nov 3!!!

I am hoping that we get more than just a Park hopper and extra's discount. We are booked with AAA (with Michelle Shears who is wonderful) for Jan 16 to the 21st at the WL so I am hoping for a big discount.

...my espn just kicked to ya'lls thoughts because I just made a note to not schedule work that day. :rotfl2:

I think in a lot of ways this is just useless speculation. Fun but useless. Here is my 2 cents worth of useless but fun opinion. I think Free Dining is not gong to be offered. Even though Disney may have realized how successful it was, it did put an awful strain on most restaurants and that is not an easy fix. Also several people who weren't staying onsite have complained that you could no longer walk into any restaurants. I'm sure Disney dosen't want any unhappy guests resort guest or otherwise, so that will take a while to figure out as well. I can't really see them offering the water park thing to a mass of us either. I have never been in jan where more than one water park is open. Also when we did do the water park (the one that was open and there were 3 then) the snorkling thing was closed and there was NO reduction in price. We just had to suck it up. So all that being said, I think there will be a discount that is just a general package that includes room, tix and dining that will be 15-20% off. Like what the AAA room only discounts are currently. I have also been in Jan when there aren't discounts/package deals. STILL I'd rateher go with no discounts and NO CROWDS like it usually is in Jan. I don't want crowds. I am willing to pay for less crowds. I actually think that the "new thing" will probably be the newer fast pass idea that has been floating around...ie more for those who stay at more deluxe resorts. I don't like this idea too much because you don't really need fast passes in Jan, plus it seems like a cruel social hierarchy slap in the face. But remember, last Jan is when they started the extra magic hours in the evenings in all of the parks, so maybe they will come out with some really new idea like that. It will be well awaited and interresting for debate on these boards I'm sure!!

If Wilma causes the damage they are expecting inland (heard one guy on TV say Orlando could be hit very hard with winds and flooding) we may see some great rates.

I am SOOOO with you on this one! We were there the first week of Oct. & it was much more crowded then our previous visits in Oct. & I was really hoping for light crowds in Jan/Feb.
But either way I will be happy being there & being with my sweeties!

Can you please send me a PM with Michelle Shears number? (I have a AAA contact here in Indiana but sadly she doesnt know much about Disney.) I saw other nice remarks about Michelle Shears, but I had no idea how to find contact info for her.

TIA!

(Anyone else that has her number please feel free to PM me as well)

I'm waiting too! Taking my DF and her 2DS for the first time and they could use any price break they can get.

Hope it's a good code. Pixie dust to everyone!! :wizard:

I'm hoping for a birthday trip in January so a discount may make my wish a reality! :flower:

Outstanding! :rotfl:

In all honesty I have a liberal budget for this trip. If there is a discount I can use, I will put more toward Katrina relief...

We are so blessed to live this lifestyle!

God Bless,

Bill

I say this with the utmost sarcasm- our losses here in WDW are your gains! Let's hope for the worst here so you can see those great rates!

Just subscribing. We have ressies for MYW + dinning for 2/1-2/7 thru AAA. It's a decent total, but would LOVE to save more.

My only worry: my local AAA agent who is handling my vacation seems to know VERY little about Disney. Is it okay to call her (have to make payment anyway) and give her the heads up about this so that she will be ready to apply the possible discount if better? I am positive she won't know about it otherwise.

I hope the hurricane doesn't do ANY damage. I'd rather pay the highest rate then have the lowest rate at the cost of limbs and lives. I'd hate to see any damage done to anyone just so I would gain.

:sad2:

I hope that was made as an observation and not a wishful thought!

Has anyone ever done this? I am thinking about e-mailing Sue Piscaturo of Small World Vacations and asking her if she can save me any money over the package I booked with Disney Travel. Would she figure it all out and tell me even if I joined AAA? I am confused about all these pins ect. I just know I can save money somewhere. When I called Dsiney, they didn't even want to break down my package for me, like what I'm paying for tickets, dining plan, ect.Our vacation isn't until March 18 so I still have time.

Any of the Disney specialist agencies should do this for you.

If you joined AAA, you would only be able to book room-only with separate tickets with those agencies (or direct with Disney), not the dining plan - only a AAA agency can book a package with AAA discounted rooms and the dining plan.

And speaking of AAA agents! Ugh. I just called mine to make a payment on my package. I told her about the POSSIBLE deal coming out. She knew nothing about it. I asked if they (the agency) would receive info about the code/discount...she didn't know. I told her that I could do nothing if anything comes out, that only she could make changes to my ressie. She said she has never had this happen, where a code/disc. came out. That AAA has the best rates in the industry. She is clueless.

She said she would ask about being notified of discounts when she calls to make my payment. We'll see.

I am nervous. If I have to notify her of the discount after reading about it here, I worry that by the time I call her (after 9) and then by the time she calls, I may miss out. Ugh!

I wonder if AAA has any openings? I think I could easily do her job...better!

Thanks Disney Geek 2000! I'm going to leave everything as is before I screw something up!! I'm worried enough about if everything will go OK with Magical Express ect. !!
