Oh Boy! Looks like a 2006 MYW discount is in the works

I just got off the phone with CRO making ressie for our March vacation. Very, very nice CM. She even checked my name against any possible pin codes for those dates without me asking her to do so! Anyway she did tell me that Disney plays the number game to determine when to send out those rare pin codes. If advanced reservations are looking below expectations then they send them out in a flurry. She also felt positive about additional discounts and pin codes even for March due to Easter not being till mid April. So for all of us March 2006 folks lets keep our fingers crossed. :)

Angel16,

Lets see if I can shed some light on this.

For my Feb reservation I used BRP:

BRP or Best Rate Program is a section on the WDW online system where AP holders can go on and book there reservations 60 day's in advance and it will pull up the best rate that you can get for that time. This eliminates having to call over and over and over trying to get an AP discount. Sometimes that discount is really good and sometimes there isn't any discount. It just depends on your timing.

For my December 06 reservation I used AAA discount:

With the AAA discount all you need to get this is be a AAA memeber and then depending on what time of the year your going and where your staying you get a curtain % off each night of your stay. This is subject to AAA discount availability just like with any other discount.

Thank you Jason and WendyPooh, I really appreciate your help. Your explaination was excellent.

We just returned from a fantastic trip to WDW. :cloud9: We spent two weeks there. We stayed at The Polynesian for the first week. Then over to AKL CL for the second. We had a AP, so our savings was pretty great. But our AP's expired last week. I know I can still renew it, however we do not plan on returning to WDW until late Nov early Dec. 2006.

From reading some other posts it sounds like dates after Thanksgiving 2006 are filling up already. What is the best way for me to go?

Should I book room only with a AAA discount and wait to buy my AP until later next year? We would like to get two trips out of the AP. We live out west and don't go more than once a year. OR Should I hold off booking and wait until I buy the AP and hope for the BRP to be available and dates and resorts available?

I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Angel

When it says "when you buy a base ticket...", I think its safe to assume they mean as part of a package (i.e. including the room). My guess is though that they will release a room-only code along with these new package codes. I'm just guessing since that's what they have done in the past.

And is it just me...or does "free hopping and water parks" not sound like such a great deal? I mean, if there's a room discount, it would well be worth it, but we're only buying 2 Adult passes and we hadn't planned on doing the water parks (it's JANUARY!! :cold: ), so it would only save us about $70 really. Am I missing something??

When you purchase a MYWpkg. are you paying rack rate? So the only discount is getting the free upgrade to a hopper? I have a room only ressie with the 10% AAA discount. Never done a pkg. before so not sure how they work?

Yes the MYW package is rack rate for now. We're all hoping that you get the ticket upgrade AND a room discount with the package. We still don't know what the code will be.
Pkgs can be canceled up to 45 days before the vacation without penalty, whereas room-only is five days. I wanted dining, so I had to book a package.

harleyquinn,
Can you (or anyone else) please tell me what the penalties are for cancelling MYW packages. Does the penalty amount or percentage increase as you get closer to the check-in date?

Thank you
Suzy V.

That's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying. I'm hoping for a room discount too because park hopping and water parks aren't enough for me. I have old PHP tickets with one waterpark visit left that I plan to use and I was only going to get passes with hopping, nothing more.

If you cancel 44-6 days prior to your vacation, you have to pay a $100 penalty. If you cancel 5 or less days before, then the penalty is is $200.

Yep, sorry I was lazy. :p :upsidedow (we need a lazy smilie) I meant 45 days without a penalty. Thanks for clarifying!!

I think both packages through Disney and AAA have the same rules.

We have just decided we think we are going to plan a trip for the last week of January - the first week of February. We want to book the MYW package - discount or no discount. Should I call now and book our package and then just call back when the codes are released??? Or would I cause more trouble than it is worth? We plan on staying at POR (a family of 5).

Please let me know what the best way to do this is - usually codes are released around the time we decide to go and it works out fine. I have to make sure I can get into POR since we are a family of 5 and can't afford the deluxe rooms at AKL (we usually stay at AKL, but since my youngest is now over 3 - we have to do something else) and we do not want to have to get two rooms at a value.

Thanks so much for any and all help! Lisa

If you want POR with or without a discount, definitely book now. No point in waiting, in my opinion. Once the code comes out Nov 3 (supposedly), call CRO with the code and ask to apply it to your reservation. Chances are, you'll save a bunch of money, but by some chance you can't get the code, you'll still have your room before everyone starts calling to take advantage of the special.

I reserved 3 rooms (room only, ASMo) for Jan 31-Feb 5. The travel agent I used will automatically contact me with options once the discounts are released. I figured that I at least wanted to block out the rooms. Rate was $85 (Tax included) for preferred room with AAA discount. I'm hoping they repeat the free dining package, but I've read a lot of posts telling me not to hold my breath.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure I would be able to apply a code if I booked now. I just tried calling about 10 minutes ago, but it was too late - I forgot about the hour time difference! I will just have to do it first thing in the morning...a great way to start a day!!! :goodvibes

By my calculations, the hopping and plus visits are a discount fo $80.00 per person...I guess it's not a "great deal" if you didn't want those options, but remember that the plus visits are valid for DisneyQuest, Pleasure Island, water parks and the Wide World of Sports. Think of it like the free dining as a chance to experience something new for "free." If that's what the offer ends up being, anyways :confused3

I don't know. Might work for some people. Won't do much for me. I never go to Disneyquest, and Pleasure Island you can walk around for free, just not inside the clubs.

I haven't heard anything about May. Sorry

But, Free Dining wouldn't upset me at all!!! LOL

We always park hop, so for us, it would be like getting free dining!! and then some...
i like the idea of making the smaller tickets non-expire, so you have those H20 parks for when you go back in more hospitable weather. (i wouldn't do it on a 10-day though, too much) but up to 7 days, it might be worth it.

Free dining, even for one person, is worth about $30 a day.

Free park hopping is only worth about $30 for an entire week.

We are booked through AAAwith a package deal with dining, if a code comes out will we be able to have our AAA agent apply a code or will we have to cancel everything and go through CRO? The only discount we got with AAA was a little on the room but it wasn't much. So I am looking for anything else that might save us a few extra dollars..thanks for the advice.

For the last code (this fall) a special AAA code came out shortly after the general code. (I think, it seemed like it was at least a week later, but maybe no one figured it out til then?) There's another thread about AAA doing more with Disney for discounts for their customers. Your AAA agent SHOULD get this code for you, but you will probably have to call him/her to get them to do it. Unlike agents that specialize in Disney (like Dreams Unlimited) most AAA TAs don't seem to know much of anything about the ins and outs of Disney travel.

You might want to call your TA now and tell them about the rumors. Maybe they'll then keep their eyes open for you.
Good Luck!
